Gas Price Gouging in BC!!!!

Comparison's to Europe? How about other countries that export oil? Saudi's, Columbia, others is like 8 cents a gallon.

BC is almost the size of Europe or a good chunk of it anyway.

High gas prices strangle rural communities, having a car, driver's license or farm equipment is not a luxury or a privilege, they are necessities. We don't even get the tax relief we are supposed to when buying fuel for marine, (no road taxes) or farms here. Only a few gas stations have farm gas.

Another big distinction from Europe is the mountainous terrain, sure they have bumps, (England) but not like BC, BC is fairly unique for it mountains and lousy highways system, even our freeways look like a kid with a crayon just scribbled on a piece of a paper but that is a different post.

There is no way prices should be this high, there is not justification. And I am pretty sure Vancouver has more electric vehciles than any city in the world. But they can't go to Edmonton, Calgary Kamloops and back

WTF.

We are paying on average 1.30 cents a liter, in Toronto they are under 0.98 cents, Alberta is cheaper and even in Washington state with the exchange they are 0.96 cents a liter Canadian funds. That is over $40 dollars a tank for 100 a litre fill up.

Does the BC government need more revenue so they are letting the gas companies gouge us again?

Is it because we are distracted by the Corona virus news, why is this gouging not news worthy?

Don't blame the gas companies, they are making the same profit no matter where they sell it.  Thank the government and their inability to run anything, including refining and taxation.  The government wants control, they suck at everything, and people keep asking them to get bigger and more involved. We are all doomed.

What a surprise, energy companies taking advantage of B.C. consumers and our governments (federal and provincial) no giving a F@#$.

I guess they expect B.C. to help pay for their new pipe-lines whether we want them or not.

Oil prices way down and gas here is going up in price so yes we are getting screwed.there is absolutely no doubt.

Close all gas station "CONvenience" stores down. Have it be a gas station with pay at the pump only, save on employee wages? If you can't buy your rolling papers, cigarettes, chips, pop, gum etc at a grocery store, not my problem.

My issue is simple...to this Dumbass anyway!

When a gas station has a tanker truck fill up their tanks, the station should not be allowed to change to price on fuel (usually increase) until then next tanker truck comes. Do stations not pay a fixed price per tanker!?

I just find it crazy how they can jump the prices all over the place from the same tanker of fuel. Imagine if grocery stores could make changes to all their products on a daily or hourly rate...

Also, the whole go electric or hybrid...If that catches on don't think for a second that Electric companies won't catch on and start jacking up our Electric bills. No way they will keep the same rates if people are charging their vehicles at home on the regular. They will just want their piece of the pie like the gas companies!

Europe has plenty of mountains. Actually, the sketchiest mountainous roads I’ve ever driven on were in Europe. As for the gas prices, you are preaching to the choir here. It’s not fair that we have the highest fuel prices in North America. It’s been this way as far back as I can remember and at this point its become a part of life living in this province.

Horgan is doing a far better job then that scumbag sellout Christy Clark ever did. And I don’t even vote NDP.

Agreed.

CC was bought and paid for. I am actually surprised with Horgan, I also don't vote NDP but he has done a pretty good job imo so far.

Oil prices are plummeting, we should be paying closer to 80 cents per litre right now, across Canada.

She sold everything off to China and destroyed our housing market.

Our housing market being so strong is what drives our economy.  Horgan took tolls off bridges, even though he’s supposed to be an environmentalist.  That’s a super duper hypocrite.  Socialism doesn’t work.

true, but my wife and I just bought a place. our broker told us that 99% of her clients in the last 10 years have had to have help from parents or family. That shouldn't be the case.

I understand our market is unfair to young people.  Don’t know how to fix that.

Ban anyone who is NOT a BC resident from buying any property in BC. Move to BC, become a day in day out contributing tax payer and contributor to our communities. Not just come here from around the world or from another province with your wealth.

The Okanagan where I reside is a beautiful place, the market went thru the roof when many Albertans moved here with their oil $ and raised the prices to an insane level. Those same people then avoid ICBC by using Alberta residency to plate their vehicles and pay far less for the same vehicle as someone else who also lives in BC but does NOT have somewhere in Alberta to use as a way of saving insurance. Not to single out the red plates, but the Asian increase around here has been huge as well, so they have brought there wealth to raise everything also.

Europe doesn't have mountains?

Ok, that's strange...cuz I swear I've heard of like the Alps, Carpathian, Appenines...

Huh. Weird.

Saudi Arabia declares price war with OPEC.

In BC gas jumps to $2.00 per litre!

BTW, I have a picture from 2011 from London.

Back then gas there was 1.37 per litre.

Now its 1.238 per litre. That's in pounds.

That's about $2.13 per litre Canadian.

Yep, gas average in Europe right now is like 1.85 USD/litre.

Ooooooooo the Canadians have it so bad.

People come here because it’s the best. It’s s capitalist system.  Prices will reflect the demand.  There are lotto fans other places in Canada with very affordable housing.  Maybe people who can’t afford to live here should consider moving to those areas?
