BMorrison 7
The Canucks don’t have an easy schedule the next five games. This right here is going to show this teams true colours. Are we gonna come out with an empty tank or are we gonna do everything and anything possible to gain advantage and push other teams around to fight us in to that playoff spot. About the only coach in Canucks history I’d rank below Willie would be Bill Laforge. 1
Popular Post *Buzzsaw*
Kinda expected this result after the Blue Jackets completely outplayed the Oilers last night and came away with nothing. Torts would have them come out hard. I am not a fan of his coaching, but he actually has the Blue Jackets playing well considering the injury problems. Columbus is a big physical team and he is coaching them in a style which fits their profile. Canucks outplayed Jackets in the first two periods but let them off the mat in the third and Columbus mostly closed the game down except for EP's individual effort. Was a good opportunity for the Canucks... with Columbus missing half their team to injury and it being the backend of a back to backer. I know a lot of people are going to blame the loss on the defense, but that would be wrong. Main problem remains the system... there is more than enough scoring talent on this team to put up two or three goals a game... but with Green's system they are too dependent on the powerplay and lucky bounces on shots from the point and when those don't happen, the system can't manufacture goals. Very few goals scored on the rush due to the fact Green's system does not provide support to the puck handler when he crosses the opposing blue line. Canucks also held onto the puck too much when they did have scoring chances... didn't shoot enough. Anyway, the team is going with this coach till either they make the playoffs or miss them... the decision will be made after that. I hope they don't keep Green around if the team squeaks in and then loses in the first round. 1 2
Popular Post 189lb enforcers?
I’m mainly just cheering for QH to win the Calder these days. The Canucks lack an identity, big time. They lack in several, obvious key team aspects, which indicates a managerial issue, IMO. The roster doesn’t have the right mix and the coaching doesn’t appear to instil a pack mentality. It was worth a shot, Benning. I don’t blame you for unloading both barrels last summer on cover fire for your two superstar kids’ seasons. If Aquaman doesn’t mind, then nor do I. Nave
Really impressed by Pettersson's goal. Wish they hadn't scored the second goal so that would have tied the game.
J-23
This team needs a Torts like coach. No passion or intensity besides a few, Miller, Tofolli, Hughes and Petey at times. Edited March 9, 2020 by J-23

AnotherCanucksFan
Anyone who has followed the Canucks for a long time remembers 2011 and going the Stanley Cup finals against Boston. In the 8 years since Vancouver lost in the finals, they have lost in the first round 3 times and missed the playoffs 5 times. I looked back at the 2011 team and was reminded that the players were older and had extensive playoff experience. In the 7 years prior to the 2011 Finals, the Canucks had lost in the Lost Conference Semi-Finals 4 times and missed the playoffs 2 times. When the Canucks reached the 2011 Finals, here's a sample of some of the key players age. Top scorers: Sedins 30, Kesler 26, Samuelsson 34, Burrows 29, Erhoff 28 Defense: Bieksa 29, Luongo 31, Sami Salo 36 The 2020 Canucks do have some players who are in their late 20s or early 30s likes Brandon Sutter 30, Loui Eriksson 34, Jay Beagle 34, Jordie Benn 29, Tyler Meyers 29 and Alexander Elder 33, but the players with the most points and the defense with most points are young. 2020 Canucks ages: Scorers: JT Miller 26, Pettersson 21, Horvat 24, Boeser 22, Virtanen & Gaudette 23. Defense: Hughes 20, Notice if we look at the age of the 2011 top players vs the 2020, they are at least 2-5 years away from the age when the 2011 were in their prime. Keep in mind that most of the Defense are much older than Hughes and it's an issue. The Sedins joined the Canucks as rookies in 2000. Kesler joined the Canucks as a 19 year old rookie in 2003. Bieksa joined the Canucks at 24 in 2005. Burrows was 24 when he joined the Canucks in 2006. Luongo joined the Canucks in 2006 at age 27. By 2011, the core players had been together a minimum of 5 years and a max of 11 years. How many seasons have the current core players played for the Canucks: Pettersson 2nd, Miller 1st, Horvat 3rd, Boeser 3 1/8 ( only played 9 games 1st season), Virtanenan ( played with Canucks in 2015 but really has had 3 fullish seasons ), and Hughes Rookie / 1 year. So we have the core coming together this year while several key players only joined this year. Yes I hope they make the playoffs, but consider how much better than they can be next year from this year together and building from it ( regardless of whether they make the playoffs or not ). DarkGhost
I was at the game and...well it was pretty sad to watch. - Way too many of our players are looking to force passes when they should be trying to get shots on net. There were literally a dozen chances that turned to nothing with a turnover. - Hitting the net seems like climbing Everest for these guys. So many shots off the mark and brutal tip in attempts. - Horvat’s line has been playing like garbage for weeks and they all look like offence will never come from there again. Get Loui the F off this line. - So many lazy plays resulting in turnovers it was cringe to watch. 5 or 6 times a period it seemed like a forward would rush through the middle with the puck only to turn it over. Looked like a rookie playing NHL 2020 on All Star thinking they can just skate through 5 guys to score. Overall...the Canucks didn’t look like a team hungry for the playoffs. Unfocused and apathetic were two words id use to describe their play for most of the game. 0 urgency until it was too late. At some point this has to fall at the feet of coaches. Way too many times this season we’ve watched the Canucks not be “ready” for a game. Green doesn’t seem to be able to get these guys engaged when they need to the most. 3

StiffStick33
Imagine Green telling the boys to be patient with the puck and take the high percentage chances ONLY. Focus on zone time and forechecks, our chances with come when we’re patient. **I mean the passing has been great. Tape to tape; Zone exits were squeaky clean in the first. And then you have Petey averaging like maybe .5 shots in the last 3 games.
Hairy Kneel
I can hear the clock ticking on Green's parking spot. If JB really wants a jump, and to try add energy and to try and make the playoffs, now is the time to make a change. The team doesn't seem to be playing for Mr Greener. Probably a nice enough guy but not getting the job done. Malholtra and our goalie guru are the only coaches cutting the mustard. DarthMelvin
Green stated 2 things that were true. He stated that they were kept outside. And were reluctant to shoot. Lets hope as a coach, he will change that up next game. If we see that and he sees it... well then...
Dats hockey
It’s bad enough Loui is even on the team, but the fact I see him in our top 6 repeat makes me want to put my head through a wall. Green give your head a shake he isn’t a top 6 player he’s barely a bottom 6 player

Lol shouldn't the last 6 games already showed the teams true colors? It's relatively easy mtl ott cbs x2 ari we ended up 1-4 in those games against teams we should beat and 1-1 in 50/50 games tor and col... the compete level in those easy game were questionable.. either shows up for 50mins... or 10mins.. never a 60 min effort
