Apparently in Toronto McMaster they figured out what makes up the Virus and in Saskatchewan they have a vaccine ready to test on animals. Amazing what we can do when hockey is cancelled.

it's like when a man loses his sex drive.  He can solve all sorts of problems.

If you recall, after 9/11, when the NYSE re-opened there was panic selling and the market had its biggest single-day losses in history (at the time).  However, it didn't take too long for the markets to turn back around and they went on the biggest bull run in history.

A market crash like this presents an opportunity.  There will be bargains to be had and the market will start to climb back up again.  Apparently they are already back up 5% this morning.

In the words of Douglas Adams, Don't Panic.

Yah if you have money that you haven’t invested, now is the time to go hard and invest as much as possible giving you a huge return on new investments.  I’m a young guy so I only had like 5k invested and I knew there hadn’t been a market drop in forever so I was waiting on that and now that it has I’m going to be tripling my portfolio to strike big when the markets rebound.  Actually a good stock I’ve heard from a friend who’s pretty rich to invest in is BMO.  They dropped 40% way more than the rest of the market and their yield is 6%.  Therefore you’re guaranteed a 6% return on your investment plus whatever you get from the market rebounding (which it will cause it’s a bank).  So in the next year you could end up getting a 100% return on your investment today and that initial investment you lost, it’ll be back in a calendar year.

Big Bucks are probably less vulnerable to this disease than most.

They tend to have a very good sense of self-preservation - know when to self-isolate.

And tend to avoid high traffic areas.  Rutting season has passed, so they'll take even less chances, be even lower risk.

Technically, you would have only lost money if you sold.  And if you sold, well then that's on you.

If it was an extreme flu it would be an actual pandemic. The Flu has killed between 25 and 50 thousand people between Oct 1st and Feb 29th.

Back to reality for a second here people,  after this current situation passes - and it will pass one way or another - reflection is going to allow us to appreciate what we really value in our lives and what our priorities really should be.  No game on, how about spending time with family/friends?   This is coming from an admitted sports addict so no, I'm not just a 'casual' fan that can simply walk away from my sports and move onto something else to occupy myself with little to no change in my life - but we as fans have to accept that there's zero control here, zero.

omg you're so right. I just found out my wife still lives here

Covid-19 is a pandemic (WHO has declared it a pandemic).  If we don't take extreme measures this Covid-19 will easily surpass the deaths associated with annual Influenza.  The mortality rate for Influenza A & B is about 0.1% whereas the mortality rate of Covid-19 is about (as far as we know now) 2% to 3%.  That's 20 to 30 times higher than Influenza.  Please inform yourself from reputable sources.  Here are some good web sites:

Its the precautionary actions we take NOW that prevent things from getting insane LATER. Imagine the bitching and moaning if we did nothing and the numbers were exponentially higher.

Don't worry. Sylvia Browne predicted this years ago. She wouldn't lie to us would she?

“In around 2020 a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe, attacking the lungs and the bronchial tubes and resisting all known treatments. Almost more baffling than the illness itself will be the fact that it will suddenly vanish as quickly as it has arrived, attack again 10 years later, and then disappear completely.”

I thought it was Dean Koontz that wrote that... someone is f__king with people.

This covid 19 has only been onus for few weeks now in british columbia but who knows really how long its been around...just like a forest fire people you need to cut it off...so no hockey fans in one place no bars no theatres no gatherings period will do this as experts say...sacrifice our sports our luxuries for a little while and things will get better...message to prime minister ...if you want to help us out the folks that need money for temporary reasons...just send out electronically to everyone cause time is what matters....no point in getting any financial help if it takes months..
