Skates very well and has really strong all around abilities and skills. Was an absolute stud at the NCAA level, boasting quite the list of accomplishments for his collegiate career: I mean, it doesn’t get much better than that for a college player. Definitely one of the better UDFAs coming out of the NCAA this year and a player worthy of a contract. Wow good find. How did we sign a guy like this? Phil_314
Did some browsing also of Hobey Baker finalists, seems like a good number of them end up at least having solid or tweener careers (Brendan Morrison, Gaudette, Ryan Miller to name a few), if not outright becoming regulars or stars (Eichel, Gaudreau...). Hope Marc's on the upper end of that spectrum and becomes at least a regular for us. https://www.uscho.com/faq/hobey/

There are enough NCAA players joining the Canucks and then finding success at the professional level to actually make this organization an attractable signing destination. Good job on the organization on creating this reputation though.
DeNiro
I’m pretty sure Weisbrod is the college guy when it comes to scouting. He seems to have a lot of knowledge when it comes to those programs.

Ooops I meant Delorme. I thought we were talking about him for some reason. I posted the article stated that not long ago must of slipped my mind somehow.

I think the point about the organization holds water though - over the years they've gotten Tanev, Stecher, MacEwen, Eddie Lack, (Burrows), Rypien - among others - all undrafted free agents....hard to argue with that = a pretty decent track record. Makes me laugh at the same time, because I've seen more than one "death by a thousand contracts" type smarmy articles whining that the team was wasting too many contracts on fringe undrafted free agents (I believe MacEwen was the target of one of those armchair articles, maybe Molino another). In any event, if they're batting better with the undrafted UFAs than they are their average mid round pick - and it seems that could be the case - that is a pretty damn good result overall. DeNiro
Wonder who the other college free agent Benning is targeting is. The most obvious one would be local kid Jordan Kawaguchi from North Dakota. I hope it’s his teammate Matt Kiersted though. We could use more D men in the system since we have so many question marks there right now.

I'd be willing to bet it was Mackey or Poolman, they would have been decent D men to roll the dice on, but now that's not happening.

He'll either become a Brogan Rafferty late bloomer or he'll be a one year AHLer like Griffin Molino. He seems to be a late bloomer so I'm hoping he's a diamond in the rough like a lot of our recent NCAA free agent signings. Also, I'm assuming his and Lockwood's deals will start July 1st?!? He will be 25 in September....correct. He will also be 25 in July when his birthday is.

I dunno Benning seems to not go after the most highly sought after free agents. Seems to be a waste of effort when 20 teams are in the mix. Guys like Rafferty, Teves, Kielly and Michaelis seemed to be a little more under the radar. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Kawaguchi though since the chances of landing him are higher. I saw @Ossi Vaananen suggested Josh Maniscalco elsewhere A fluid skating two way physical RHD, with a cannon for a shot? Sounds perfect to me! The more the better, and the higher the chance of hitting on one of them.

SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
Whenever I watch any of those Minnesota State tribute/highlight vids, I think we might as well retire Michaelis’s number now and hang it up with the Sedins.
