I don't think we have the cap space but if Buff's ankle isn't toast that would be a pretty feared right side. 1
Where's Wellwood
I'm pretty sure he's done with hockey.
Drakrami
This guy isn't even motivated to help out his old team or his teammates even though their defense is decimated. Not to mention the Jets are very deep up front and a cup win isn't impossible. What makes you think he will be motivated playing for a new team on a contract with less money? If he didn't play because of health reasons, all the more he won't be playing for a new team.

I.Am.Ironman
He is probably tipping the scales at 325 right now; he's done.

-AJ-
I think he's looking to terminate to retire, not to play somewhere else. He just turned 35 years old and I think he's lost a lot of his passion for the game.

King Heffy
Fitness is becoming more and more important every year. Even if he wanted to come back and got into passable game shape, he clearly doesn't have the drive to maintain his conditioning at the level he needs to. HC20.0
From the sound of it, Buff's all but retired. He certainly had a hell of a career. Makes me wonder though, if Buff had done this sooner, would Winnipeg had kept Myers? They lost their entire right side D in one Summer.

It was just perfect timing for him.
Elias Pettersson
Sadly I think Big Buff is finished. If it was the Buff of 3 years ago he'd be the perfect partner for Huggy Bear. If we want e legit top 4 or top 2 Dman for Huggy Bear then the only way to accomplish that is through trade. We have the assets. I think Benning is looking around. We get Toffoli signed to a long term deal and we will have a crowded and deep right wing side. Lots of ammunition there to pull a deal to get a young D partner for Huggy. Canuck Surfer
Cudo's to Buff for getting in shape & making a career out of it. A great one! But I always theorized the guy dumped by Chicagp? A guy who, despite being supremely gifted, had commitment & discipline issues. He never earned coach Q's trust. Was a breakdown waiting to happen propped in to a leadership role in Winnipeg? I scoffed that it was him who felt entitled to take down Evander Kane on attitude issues. And now just that has happened!
Canuck Surfer
I think the Jets will do better now that his butt doesn't occupy two stalls. And his head space does not take over 1/2 the dressing room.

The guy is listed at 260 on hockeydb, that was his playing weight. The guy hasn't played in over a year and didn't seem motivated to do so, I highly doubt he had the motivation to keep in shape while away from the game. At 35 years old, it's even harder to stay in shape, I cannot see how he can return to hockey and be relevant in any way.

Byfuglien may have bowed out right on time to save himself a lot of ridicule. Edited April 6, 2020 by Me_
