Fanuck
That's a pretty good signing. Young, 6'3" 200lbs+ Centerman with scoring potential just entering his prime. He could be a steal with the cap going down.
SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
Great signing at only $1.2 million.
Phil_314
He's done well in the KHL and also was good in the minors. At worst I think he could be another Nischushkin, which isn't bad at that price tag, plus there's probably more potential.
Quantum
He didn't have a great run with Buffalo and Colorado the last time he was in the NHL. However, he seems to have found his game in the KHL and Columbus has a knack for finding diamonds in the rough recently. Could be a really good reclamation project if this works out for CBJ. Coconuts
I'm hoping this works out for him, Columbus could use a break given the talent they've shed too.
RRypien37
Kid was rushed into the show. Almost PPG past 2 years in the KHL. I see no problem with him being a solid top 9 forward in the NHL right now.
Drakrami
Good signing. Columbus was even in the playoff race after losing those key pieces!

Crabcakes
Parallel development path to Tryamkin who is the same age (25 turning 26 in 2020) with probably better success in the KHL.

mll
^ Lavoie cites article 50.8 (d): (d) No Club or Player may enter into an SPC that does not cover at least the then- current League Year. The foregoing does not apply to an SPC entered into pursuant to Section 50.5(f) above, or to Unsigned Draft Choices or Draft Related Unrestricted Free Agents, who shall be permitted to sign an SPC during the period from March 1 through June 1 immediately preceding the League Year in which such SPC is to take effect. Monty
As someone mentioned, I believe on Twitter. How is this any different than the Leafs signing of Alexander Barabanov?

Barabanov signed an ELC - those are allowed, similar to the Canucks signing Michaelis as an undrafted prospect. It's regular contracts that can't be signed until 1 July unless it's an extension to an existing contract.
