All four Canadian political parties have applied for the Trudeau government's wage subsidy

why? working for a party is a legitimate job. All of them have had to scale down activities and these folks need as much help as any other worker. If people want to get pissed off and cut these people off thats just pure spite.

Not saying anything other than the way it is phrased is bad and looks bad.

As I said, it is for the staffers which are not public employees but technically private employees under the employ of a public servant.  As such yes, they are entitled to the same help.

But optically this looks terrible with the way it was worded

1) Violated ethics:

Not a criminal offense.  At most a fine.  Boo hoo

2) committed political interference during an election:

Umm  provide specifics here.  This is a serious charge so you must have evidence.

3) has committed treason to Canada:

Umm  provide specifics here.  Treason is a serious charge so you must have evidence.

4)  interfered in a criminal case

Umm  provide specifics here.  This is a serious charge so you must have evidence.

5) accused of Sexually harassing a student many years ago.

Umm  provide specifics here.  This is a serious charge so you must have evidence.

6) Also bypassing due political process to try and ban guns.

Nothing illegal with the gun ban.  Other aspects of the plan will require legislation.   If your charge is true, then those parts of the plan would have been put in place now.

7)paying 600 million to media for censorship,

Is this a backhanded swipe at the CBC.  Nothing illegal here

8)etc.

You got more?   That's debatable.  You barely got anything here thats supported with actual evidence, let alone charges that would warrant jail time.

Trump is bad though eh?

LOL! I remember people referring to the Chretien government long before Harper. It's time to move on.  Fun fact, under Harper Canada had the richest middle class.

Anyways, they're all scumbags.

Whoa facts don't work with some people.

I agree with that last point. Harper is also the only PM when asked about a recession under their govt has to ask 'which one?'  ;)

Have I said JT is a Saint?  I think not.  Just because I defend him against baseless attacks doesn't mean I'm 100% team JT.  Just I find team Conservative revolting.

Whatever "crimes" you "think" JT has done, TRUMP has done more.  Way more.  TRUMP's lies and misleading statements should break 20,000 before the year is out.  I'd be surprised if JT has exceeded 10%.  If he has, surely you could post a source.

So yes, TRUMP is scum.

I think this money should be clawed back from their expense budgets.

That being said.

Campaign offices and ministerial/senate staff members DO in fact have jobs that are not in fact government or public positions as they are in fact paid as private employees.  For MPs to look for wage relief for them is visually galling but not actually illegal or underhanded at all.

Again though, that being said.

It pisses me off that at no point in time in all of this have MPs lost a dime of their ridiculous salaries.  It is high time a party get serious about clawing back the amount these people make in salary and expenses.

The base salary of an MP in Canada is $182,600.  You realize that most MP's take a salary cut to become an MP.  One reason why politics doesn't attract the best and the brightest.

This is the biggest part of this.  Yea I understand why all the parties did it because they need their workers to survive but I still don't like the optics of it, especially when its essentially my tax dollars funding political parties which I don't want to do at all.

But it is what it is.

Lol that’s the generic liberal offends us to start mentioning him. I don’t really gaF about him or Scheer, Harper  or any of them really.

I just cant see how people can blindly and passionately defend the Idiot we have in run(ruin)ning our country. He’s an international embarrassment and Hellbent on turning Canada into a 3rd world country.

But I guess non of these communists know an honest day’s work. All the white collars out there, who lap up every socialist  benefit JT hands them.

I liked Chrétien, I thought he was a proud Canadian and stuck up for canada’s Sovereignty. The last not bad Canadian Leader.

maybe we need to stop being led around by the media's interpretation of "optics"?

no kidding. i'm so tired of stories that are supposed to drive me to rage and pick a side before I've even finished the headline. Throw in some murky definition of "optics" and we have perfect storm of BS to be upset over.

Yeah, I'm getting pretty tired of the my faux rage is bigger than your faux rage 'discussions'. Add in some colourful side jabs about 'riding someone's D' (or similar) and you've got modern 'debate'.

Then I start to feel like professor Farnsworth.

Uh huh

So is it communist or socialist

You kinda need to pick a side

And posting 4 opinion columns, an opinion piece from CNN and a wikipedia write up are not in fact supportive of your statements.

You look childish with your baseless oft disproven rants.  Attempting to re-write history based on the whining of those on the right who refused to accept the truth for what it was only makes you look immature.

Just infuriating that we're years on from some of those issues, that the facts are out.  That we know why people got paid, we know some were fabricated, we know where the monies went but people like this guy are STILL ignorantly using Lilley/Levant talking points against the facts to push their ignorance on others.

All without knowing the difference between communism and socialism but certain of the fact a guy named Lilley's opinion is more essential to their beliefs than the facts

some people don't feel secure unless they are entrenched on a "side". I think thats why you see so many conservative rural folks saying ridiculous things about opinions they think people in the city have about the country e.g. If anything city folk almost never think about rural issues.

I think its also easier to yank the chains of social conservatives because they tend to be more about simple principles (or thats what they tell themselves) which is why Khadr comes up so often.
