NHL Attendance 2019-20

Here's the attendance for every teams home games ranks by percentage.  There's a couple surprises in here for sure.  I'm quite surprised Dallas led the league, I'm also surprised there's only a handful of teams with an attendance lower than 90%.  This also shows how large Ottawa's attendance problem is.

Ottawa, dead last, beat out by Florida... Disgraceful:sadno:

By 15%.

The NHL should start considering moving Ottawa to Quebec City.

Make that cheap prick Melnyk sell the team to someone who gives a s**t, that's really all that needs to be done. Move Arizona or Florida to QC.

If Ottawa gets their arena out of Kanata, their attendance issues would probably go away.

Move Florida/Arizona to Houston, and QC.

why the focus on percentages?

don't actual ticket sales matter most ?

montreal leads the nhl in actual attendance (or ticket sales)

ny islanders are last

i'm going to start my own nhl franchise

i will lead the league in percentage of ticket sales

my arena will seat 4

but when i add the 2 extra folding chairs

i'll be at 150%
so my franchise will be wildly successful

Uneven number of home games, capacity % is the more reliable number. if you extend NYI's average per game by 2 games to match Ottawa, then Ottawa is still last.

I like the percentage stat just because all stadiums are different sizes.  Winnipeg has a small stadium but sells out every night.

Having been to a number of Coyotes games, I can say without a doubt that there is no way at all that they are even close to 14k per game.  Too bad that rink is where it is.  The facility is one of the nicer NHL rinks I've been to, just in the middle of nowhere.

Agreed..these numbers look pretty sketchy. Unbelievable they claim markets like FLO & Desert Mutts have higher attendance than the Sens.

Prob giveaway prices in them markets, as well.

The numbers are from ESPN.  I'm guessing they base attendance off of ticket sales, not how many people actually make it through the gate.

https://www.hockeydb.com/nhl-attendance/att_graph_season.php?lid=NHL1927&sid=2020

Here's a graph from hockeydb.  They explain where the numbers are from, "Attendance is based on numbers from a team or league, either released as an official yearly per-game average figure, or compiled into an average from individual boxscore attendance".  Their data looks like it's presented by average attendance per game instead of PCT.  Not much has changed.

Fine & dandy..but they'd damnwell better not steal another rising Cdn franchise to drop into another US market!

How can you have over 100% attendance?

Great freaking question lol. Is this including standing patrons? If it is 113% of capacity for standing guests too I guess that makes sense.

My best bet is standing room.  The attendance was most likely based off of seating capacity.

Too bad  Florida didn't go to  QC. before Roberto retired. I think he may played it differently

Folks in Ottawa better be careful. If they don’t show up then they could lose their team. In the end the owner needs to make some money. They may hate the owner but do they hate him enough to lose their team?
