Popular Post Nail
2018 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 4 "The Defenceman" Edition Ty Smith (LD) The former 1st overall pick in the WHL draft moved up 3 spots, from 14th to 11th in the Midterm Rankings. The playmaking offensive defenceman isn't quite putting up the same numbers as he did last year (62 points in 72 games), but his numbers this year of 31 points in 50 games is still respectable. Rasmus Sandin (LD) Sandin has risen from 29th in the Preliminary Rankings, to 15th in the Midterm Rankings. The two-way defenceman has made his pro debut for Brynas this season, appearing in 17 games and producing 3 assists. In the J20 league, Sandin has 16 appearances and 9 points. Maxim Sharanov (LD/RD) The Russian Offensive Defenceman has dominated in the KHL as a 17 year old, as he is currently 5th in league wide rookie scoring (and the top defenceman). Sharonov has 23 points in 51 games, while playing 19 min a game in a league that many deem the best outside the NHL. Sharonov is currently ranked in the top 10, however he is signed in Russia until 2020 which may see his draft stock fall. Evan Bouchard (RD) Bouchard is a burly defensive defenceman who is currently 2nd in the OHL in takeaways with 62 in 49 games. He has also shown an offensive side to his game, currently producing at a 0.5 PPG clip. It is expected that Bouchard will push to be a lottery pick, however his lack of NHL offensive upside could see his stock fall. Stuart Robertson (LD) One of the many top prospects playing for the Las Vegas Storm U18 team, Robertson may be the most polarizing prospect that could be selected in the top 10. With 32 points in 31 games, Robertson is a high octane offensive defenceman that has elite potential. The problem? Robertson is a small 5'9, and is future for next season is still unknown. How high will someone value Robertson's potential and take a high risk high reward pick? 1 1 4
Master Mind
Nothing is clicking with the Flames this year. On the block: Kris Versteeg, SNP: 25 goals and 64 points last year. Max retention available. Troy Brouwer, PWF: 29 goals and 47 points last year. Jyrki Jokipakka, DEF: bottom pair guy with fun name. Jarome Iginla, SNP: 5 points in 7 playoff games, legend with gas in the tank. Max retention. 1 1

Blue Jay 22
Welcome to Anaheim Mikael Backlund! Today, the Anaheim Ducks completed a transaction with the Calgary Flames that saw Oskar Sundqivst and a 1st round pick part ways in exchange for the talented, Swedish center, Mikael Backlund. We thank @Master Mind for the fair and swift negotiations as always, and wish him and his organization luck moving forward. The objective of this trade was to improve center depth down the middle as we push towards a playoff spot. While parting with a 1st round pick for a 2nd year in a row may be risky, management feels that the time to win is now, with the majority of the core in their early to mid 30s. Mikael will begin his craft on the 3rd line, but could see a rotation with current 2C, Ryan Kesler, should we want to mix up lines. Veteran, Shane Doan, will also step back in after being scratched for several games due to poor defensive play. His veteran leadership and PP edge will be counted on by the club as the season progresses. One thing that is certain is that this Ducks team is stronger than last year, and will look to shake hands, cough, and breathe on opponents come playoff time. With not many assets left and all perceived holes filled, the Ducks are done making transactions before this year's TDL... Anaheim Ducks Roster Rickard Rakell - Ryan Getzlaf - Corey Perry Tomas Tatar - Ryan Kesler - Jakob Silfverberg Nick Ritchie - Mikael Backlund - Leo Komarov Andrew Cogliano - Antoine Vermette - Shane Doan ex: Chris Wagner Hampus Lindholm - Kris Letang Cam Fowler - Sami Vatanen Simon Depres - Josh Manson John Gibson Al Montoya 1 1 1
