Kobayashi Maru
Dallas 2018 Entry Draft Recap The Stars made a bit of noise at the draft trading their 6th overall pick Ty Smith + 3rd for Nikita Zadorov + 2nd (Turned out to be Vitali Kravtsov). Huge gamble by the Stars as Ty Smith could be a very special player one day. Zadorov is one mean piece of business and will help protect the young D and chip in a bit of offense too. Quick recap: 6th Overall - Ty Smith (Traded for Zadorov and 39 overall) 36th Overall - Mattias Samuelsson (Zack Bogosian comparable) 37th Overall - Alexandr Pugin (Evgeni Nabokov comparable) 39th Overall - Vitali Kravtsov (Alexander Semin comparable) 66th Overall - Part of Zadorov deal 87th Overall - Traded for a 2020 3rd Overall the Stars are happy with the future pieces for the team. Fills a lot of different needs and we will work to develop them all in the system. 2

Popular Post Carlutch98
LA Kings Draft Recap As another tough season goes by in LA the progression and strides we made in this upcoming draft is amazing. I'm really happy with our direction and looking forward to bigger and better things with our bright young talent. 2018 Draft Picks: #5 Overall: Ryan Merkley RD #34 Overall: Noah Dobson RD #35 Overall: Barrett Hayton C #52 Overall: Sean Durzi RD #55 Overall: Linus Gidbark G #59 Overall: Nicolas Beaudin LD With our forward core pretty much set for the future it was time to really focus on building up our young d core to compliment a young Sergachev, Mete, Samourukov & Clague. We 110% addressed that by picking up Merkley, Dobson, Durzi & Beaudin. Really love that young core and hopefully they can all stick together and by the young core of the LA Kings future. Along with picking up 4 defencemen we even added Barrett Hayton who is an exceptionally talented centreman who adds to our already stacked centre core. With the likes of Monahan already performing at the NHL level along side Vilardi, Suzuki, Poehling & Chemelevski coming up in the ranks. Adding Hayton to that mix makes our centre core very promising and showing ALOT of promise, for these young men its time to execute. Then we even added a young goaie prospect in Linus Gidbark who can serve as a fringe starter or solid back up to Olle Eriksson Ek. DRAFT GRADE: A- Now as we did address some key positions in the draft i feel like we still could've hit on later round and even earlier round picks, it was unfortunate we fell in the draft but we made the most of what we had. The draft day moves to move down and aquire more picks was very smart and really made our draft successful. I feel like at every pick we didnt pick need as mush as best player. I think we had some really solid draft choices even later in the draft. Now for the future. I'm talking a big game here i just need my young players to execute and come through. Now it'd be nice to have everyone make the NHL but that's not realistic. If we can hit on 60% of our prospects then thats a HUGE success. Popular Post Tanev
Arizona Coyotes 2018 Draft Recap TRUST THE PROCESS - STEP BY STEP Going into the draft with 2 x 1st round picks, 4 x 2nd round picks, and 2 x 3rd round picks, we knew this was going to be a big draft, and it did not disappoint. Step 1: Win the lottery. After we finally took the shackles off some of our more developed kids post-trade deadline, the Yotes went on a run -- and eventually took us from a battle for 2nd worst in the league to 5th worst. This respectful anti-tank narrative that our kids employed was well received and will bode well next year. Going into the lottery, we had the 5th best odds to win a top 3 pick, and we hit -- and got the 3rd overall selection. Step 2: Draft BPA, always. At 3rd overall, we were ecstatic to have Joe Veleno fall into our lap. Joe crushed the World Jrs the last 2 seasons, including one where he played with top Coyotes prospects Nolan Patrick and Lawson Crouse. Joe looks to be highly accomplished coming out of Junior and we will try to see if roster spot is available for him next season, as he has great competition at Center with Nolan Patrick, Dylan Strome, and Clayton Keller all appearing to be NHL ready next year. Step 3: Quality over quantity. Going into the draft with 4 2nd round picks, the goal was to trade up to get a third first round pick. Our scouts uncovered a potential gem in Justin Jenkins (Max Pacioretty comparable), so we pulled the trigger on a deal with LA, which sent 4 2nd round picks their way in exchange for 21st overall (Justin Jenkins) and Edmonton's 2019 1st Round Pick. Step 4: Cut the North American narrative. It was gimmicky, and really didn't need to be there anymore. Arizona selected Sarunas Dambrauskas with our 25th overall selection. The Lithuanian dynamo signals a big change in our drafting going forward. No longer strictly US/Canadian; however, no Mexicans allowed. Step 5: Continue building for the future. Our 3rd round picks include Blake Coleman and Alex Burmistrov comparables, which are a solid haul for late in the draft. With ample development time available for these kids and a dynamite AHL franchise in Tucson, we should allow for great prospect development for late round talent. As mentioned in Step 3, we acquired Edmonton's 2019 1st round pick in a trade with LA. In addition, at the end of the draft, we acquired Anaheim's 2019 1st round pick in a cap-dump deal which involved Simon Despres and David Bolland. We now once again have 3 1st round picks going into the next draft. Draft Snapshot: 3rd Overall - Joe Veleno (Pierre Turgeon Comparable) 21st Overall - Justin Jenkins (Max Pacioretty comparable) 25th Overall - Sarunas Dambrauskas (Mats Zuccarello comparable) 65th Overall - Alexander Khovanov (Alex Burmistrov comparable) 88th Overall - Alejandro Wideman (Blake Coleman comparable) Very happy with the direction of the Yotes, with the right development we will be a problem in the future! It's an honour to finally bring the Vezina trophy to the nation's capital Second of all, we'd like to question the integrity of the Norris trophy voters. We believe they completely rigged this award, and the #s back it up. Hedman, leddy and burns are all giveaway machines. Are they awarding the Norris to who gives away the Puck most and who is bad at hockey?! Alex finished 11th in dman scoring... The 10 players ahead of him, including resident chumps Hedman burns and leddy all had 400+ minutes of TOI over Alex the great this season... Yet they barely outscored the phenomenal one Alexander Edler. I rest my case. Edler for Hart and Norris. Also Edler was the only one of the bunch to get his +/- to match his jersey number. A number Michael Jordan only wore to pay homage to the Swedish King. Edited July 13, 2020 by apollo 2

Bombastik der Teutone
Sabres Draft 8# D Fredrik Möller (Mattias Ekholm comparable) 38# F Marko Haggebrink (Carl Hagelin comparable) 68# F Jaxon Nelson (Craig Smith comparable) For the 75# Pick(Blues) the Sabres have acuired D Erik Gustafsson in a Trade with the Chicago Blackhawks. Erik will hopefully give the Team a offensvie boost on the Defence. 7 Million Dollar Man J.-M. Liles stays for his Final Contract Year , but he could see his Playing Time dropping with the arrival of Gustafsson and Slater Koekkoek also on the NHL roster. This also means Rough Times for Zach Bogosian , he´s is still OTB for Teams who could use him more on the Active Roster than in the Pressbox. Finally, the Arrivals of Victor Olofsson , Rasmus Asplund and Alex Nylander pushing hard for a Roster Spot , could force the Sabres to move 2-3 of their current Roster Players. Markus Foligno , David Desharnais , Matt Moulson or Jordan Eberle ( All in their Final Contract Years ) could be OTB.

Popular Post Kurisu
Pictured: Travis Konecny and Ivan Provorov, the Flyers future core FLY ER DIE: OFFSEASON REVIEW For the second season in a row, the Flyers roster is primed and ready to go before free agency. The team made a big splash on draft day, making a huge 7 player deal with the Montreal Canadiens, headlined by Max Pacioretty. The trade addressed all needs: an upgrade for the 2nd line wing, a reliable #2 to partner budding star Ivan Provorov, and a reliable backup goalie. The team will be banking on big sophomore seasons from the likes of Ivan Provorov, Travis Konecny, and MacKenzie Weegar as they look to finally return to the playoffs this season. WHO'S IN Obviously the biggest fish to join the Flyers is star sniper Max Pacioretty, who has posted 84 and 79 points in the last 2 seasons. Pacioretty is expected to start on the 2nd line with Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny, completing a truly fearsome top 6 that should be nearly impossible to shut down. Also joining is veteran defender Jeff Petry, swapped for David Savard. This was a pure hockey trade, as Petry is a far more defensively apt option to play on the top pairing than Savard. Steve Mason returns to the Flyers in a backup role, where he is one of the best in the business. Jori Lehtera also joined the team in a separate deal, and will give the team an option to shake up any potential bottom 6 struggles. Regretfully, the team was forced to part with promising Finn Santeri Virtanen and the resurgent Nail Yakupov in order to make all of this possible. ROOKIE WATCH No rookies will play on opening night this season. Two top blueline prospects, Jacob Larsson and Philippe Myers, are expected to earn roster spots as soon as next season. Goaltending phenom Carter Hart will have to wait one more season before joining the team in a backup role. Tricky winger Andrei Altybarmakyan has opted to stay in Russia for one more season after a solid rookie season in the KHL. He should have ample opportunity in the future, especially given the questions surrounding the contracts of Max Pacioretty and Brayden Schenn. DRAFTEES Despite moving out their 1st for Pacioretty, the Flyers still managed to add several decent prospects at this year's draft. Dominik Bokk and Philipp Kurashev are highly skilled wingers who could both feasibly become future top 9 pieces. Alexander Zhabreyev is another skilled piece, although his future role is more questionable given his centre position and very small frame. He will be given plenty of time to develop in Russia and the AHL. Finally, blueliner Radim Nedved seems to have all the tools to be a top 4 defenceman, but will face stiff competition on the Flyers stacked left side.
