As a Devils fan I'm not happy. But, if the Devils' and Rangers' prospects develop well, it will be a hell of a rivalry.

I'm relieved Pittsburgh and Edmonton didn't win. I'm not as anti-Leafs as some are on here, but it's kind of funny they have to give away 13th overall for a cap dump, and we will give a lower pick for a top line player in JT Miller.

Ouch. You put it like that and it really sheds light on that trade by Dubas. I get it, his hands were tied. But this is why we hate TO and it's lemming media. They praised the trade rather than crap on Dubas for putting himself in that position knowing the length of Marleu's contract. All, while hardly a praise for JB and his first for Miller trade.

this might provide us with an opportunity. They only have 4.5 mil in cap space for next year. We might be able to retain 1/2 on Benn and grab their 2nd round pick. They won't be able to get anyone with Benn's experience or ability to play either side for 1 mil anywhere.

Benn would be their second best defenseman.  We shouldn't have to retain here.

No worse than the Oilers.

Wont make a difference. They are far away, they need way more than Laf. Look how easily the canes swept them.

Lol they are a lot closer than u think.. they were competing for a playoff spot when they should have been competing for the lottery pick. They have good young goaltending. Good forwards and some good defensemen. D'Angelo fox looks legit. Trouba easily slots it ahead of all our defense except Hughes

I hope Rangers market can now make money so the cap goes up. That’s why Hockey fans needed a Big Market to win Laffy.

you gotta have NY , LA and Chicago going to help generate revue. To move the cap up.

anywho I’m happy Edmonton didn’t win Laffy.

i do think the Lotto is fixed. NY of course they won but so did the whole league.

fyi if Canucks was in this Laffy 12.6% lotto they still wouldn’t of won.....like go for the CUP GCG

For those of us who believe that these draft lotteries are fabricated, today’s NYR ball fiasco wasn’t surprising.

The league is now trying to build up the Rangers franchise. The New York market is lucrative, so it makes sense.

Any sensible person should have realized that McDavid going to Edmonton was absolute proof that the league had no possible influence on the lottery. He is the most important player to come along since Crosby, and went to the place NOBODY (outside of Edmonton management and fans) wanted him to. Literally the worst destination possible (Winnipeg would be similar financially, but at least that wouldn’t have the backlash of multiple 1st overalls).

After that, any suggestion of tampering just seems equivalent to COVID deniers.

Rangers are going to be really good quickly ... Zabinejad, Panarin, Strome, DeAngelo, Fox ... now Laff. And Shesterkin is going to be one of the best goalies in the league next season.

You could go down the Canucks young roster and say the same.  Could these two teams peak together again?!!!

How many #1 picks have the Canucks had over all of these years?  And why is referee Kelly Sutherland part of the draft lottery?!!

Rangers haven’t had 1st overall since 1965 - much longer than the Canucks have been in existence. (Not to mention, the guy they took never played an NHL game.)

The idea is to make a hockey trade for a defenseman or two though.  They need to trade at least one of their high-priced forwards, and he would easily get the best return.  Trading him somewhere like Anaheim for say Zegras, Manson, and picks would clear up enough space to make a legit offer for Pietrangelo.  That instantly brings their defense into respectability.

Ya good one. Lets trade Quinn Hughes to get Horvat a skilled set up winger.

Or let's trade EP to upgrade our D

Throw some cold water in your face and wake up.

Talk about how to rebuild a team.

Being open with your fans about what you are doing.

Trading vets for youth.

8 first rounders in 4 years.

Getting Fox for almost nothing and having a log jam of young goalies.

UFAs that are elite players.

Then add to that some lotto luck.

That is a GM doing some serious GMing.
