  1. i don't disagree with what you are saying, don't get me wrong but Umberger is a perfect example, he sat out an entire season to avoid the Canucks because he knew he would be free and do what he wanted soon enough. My point is just that if somebody with equal skill is available then take that player. I would take Owen Tippett over Casey Mittelstadt 10/10 times, not because of skill but because of the certainty that he provides to be dedicated to the team.
  2. Not certain in the sense of skill, just in commitment to the team that drafts them. I'm a fan of entering this into the next CBA, a players rights belong to the drafted team . So if he doesn't sign then he can't play in the NHL. In the case of a North American player who's going to play NCAA hockey, the window to negotiate a deal is a bit over four years. That usually covers the player's whole college career. The alternative is letting teams retain the rights to drafted players indefinitely, which would prevent them from having any sort of leverage over the teams whatsoever. If you take away a player's ability to threaten to hit free agency at some point, then his career is entirely controlled by the team until he signs. It would completely swing the balance in an already unbalanced system. http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2016/8/17/12511756/jimmy-vesey-free-agency-predators-reserve-clause-nhl-draft-rights
  3. Yes, I prefer players from the CHL. And I would prefer my team to avoid college bound players if they could. Maybe if Nashville didn't draft Vesey they would have taken Lindell or Matt Murray or Paquette ? Maybe if Chicago didn't draft Hayes they would have taken Kuznetsov or Toffoli or Gallagher ? Maybe if Anaheim didn't draft Schultz they would have taken Scandella or Hamonic or Lehtera ? Way too many good players available to take a uncertain player to me. Also, I will feel much better when Boeser is signed.
  4. Why take any risk when the players surrounding him on the list are just as good or better ? It's not worth the 1% chance they will not sign with you after college. Too much uncertainty for me. A 1st round pick has to be a certain pick for me.
  5. So below is the Concensus ranking, I believe Canucks will pick 6th, 7th or 8th. Who would you take in those positions ? Assume 1-5 go in order, who would you like from 6-10 on the list ? I want Michael Rasmussen.. Size, Strength, Speed, Scores and super strong on the faceoff for a 17 year old. Edit: And for the love of everything AVOID Casey Mittelstadt like the plague. Just committed to 4 years at U of Minnesota. Sounds like another Vesey, Hayes or Schultz to me.. Consensus Rankings Rank Player Pos. I think Hansen snags either an early 2nd or a late 1st. A late 2nd and a decent prospect maybe.

    3. Odd.

      Odd.

      2nd round pick.

He should be able to. A contending team like say, Minnesota for example, could see him as the piece they need to get them over the hump. And with how deep their forward core will be for the next 5 years I think they'd be fine with giving up something like a 2nd and Greenway.

  7. Scenario: Canucks bring in Julien. Chara gets brought in next season. Chara takes C from Henrik. We realize we're stuck in a post 1994 loop.

Who's the 2016 equivalent of Brian Noonan?  Chris Kelly?

Give him Hanks 33 while we're at it since that's Chara's number in Boston.

  8. I agree with it all except 1 small thing. Just as a FYI, a team provides there own balls for the Super Bowl. NE only used NE balls and vice versa.
  9. Was only a field goal off... Heck of a game..
  10. I hope you're right. My guess is New England 34 - Atlanta 31

Since NHL started tracking play-by-play in 2003 no team has gone as long as the #Canucks did tonight for their 1st shot on goal (28:12)
