  1. Can someone please make me a sig that has Virtanen looking like Ricky from the Trailer Park Boys? So cool. Much appreciated!
  2. No, Randy would have been that cheeseburger eating Ritchie. I'll take Ricky over Randy any day of the week.
  3. I said it before and I'll say it again. Jake Virtanen is our Ricky from the Trailer Park Boys. He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he has undeniable skills. Ricky's was growing certain things and talking his way out of it with the cops. Jake's is his physical play, speed, grit, and shot. You need a Ricky on every team. Now we just need a Julian (maybe Horvat?) and a Bubbles. Pour some rum and cokes, this was a solid draft, boys!
  4. If you buy a guy out, doesn't a percentage of their salary count against your cap?
  5. Ehlers, Virtanen...whatever. Just get us a prolific scorer.
  6. We need to get the show on the road. Take a risk on an NHL ready prospect like Virtanen. Obviously he's out for the time being with injury, but all this cutesy player development stuff isn't working very well.
  7. if we're trying to get 2 solid guys out of this draft including a Kesler trade, I'd aim for Reinhart and Virtanen. Virtanen is one of those guys who is shoot first, so you need to get him a set up man. Temporarily, you could put Virtanen out with the Sedins (since by all accounts he's NHL ready), but you're going to need someone better than Gaunce and even Horvat for him to play with and enhance his scoring ability. Without a decent centre, Virtanen is hit or miss. I love the guy, but realistically the best shooter in this draft class needs a guy who can get him the puck. Ehlers would be a good consolation prize for either player.
  8. If we're going for a rebuild, I would do whatever I could to keep that 6th overall pick. Give up a veteran roster player. This team needs to get younger and more skilled. While it won't be easy, I'd like to see both Reinhart AND Virtanen drafted by this team. Ritchie doesn't impress me as much. Not as fast and doesn't have Virtanen's shot.
  9. Why does everyone seem to love Ritchie over Virtanen? Virtanen, from what I have read, has the better shot and far more foot speed.
  10. Any trade where the Canucks give up a high end draft pick should be a no go. It would be nice to move up, but not in a weak draft if you have to give up picks and top prospects. Worst case, I'd be happy with Virtanen at 6th overall. I'd much rather have him than Ritchie. He can do almost everything Ritchie can, plus he is fast and has the best shot in the draft.
  11. I take Jake Virtanen over Ritchie. More speed, better shot.
  12. Attitude for me is everything, since I used to be an athlete (competitive swimmer). If you want something badly enough, you'll probably get it. If Virtanen wants to be here, I'll take him every day of the week over someone who doesn't appreciate how lucky they are to play a child's game for 6 figures and is willing to earn that money as a result.
  13. He's the kind of player the Twins need. He's (for once) a Grade A shooter. He's big and isn't afraid to get dirty. This team needs an elite goal scorer. He's the purest goal scorer in the draft. And he'll have a pair of twins who can get him the puck on command.
  14. The biggest problem with Santorelli is that unless he's a depth forward, I don't see a spot for him if the Canucks are finally getting serious about giving the kids a chance. He'd be a nice luxury, but I don't see much ice time for him unless we get into injury trouble.
  15. Benning will likely draft Virtanen, pending any issues with his injury. He has the best shot in the draft, and if you look at team needs, an elite shooter, especially one with size, speed and grit, would be nice. There are better all around players, but it's no good choosing someone in a weak draft that doesn't fulfill the team needs. The Twins would have far more points in their careers if they had an elite shooter to play with. They have basically MADE stars out of mediocre offensive talent. It would be nice if they could finish their careers with a real finisher.
