  1. Yes, most elite athletes will be mentally broken if one game does not go well. RISK. /sarcasm.
  2. How tall are you? Gotta be a skyscraper to think a 6’4” goalie is small. May I offer the contrary opinion that this is game number one of the pre-season and vets notoriously don’t give their all and rookies are just that, rookies? With a full NHL roster we don’t need any rookie to shine and steal a spot. We have the luxury of letting them develop in their respective development leagues. Enjoy the hockey.
  3. Assume, as I did, that a player might not want to be in that environment. It would mean he is more likely to go to play in North America right away. It’s not a guarantee, merely some background information to consider. Alternatively we could say that if he loves draconian dictators and no freedom of speech, he might choose to stay and play for Dinamo Minsk. Both of these things could impact where he plays hockey. Hence my comment on the “Russian Factor” that sometimes concerns people about draft picks from Russia. Anyway, have a good Saturday my friend. Let’s enjoy the sunshine.
  4. Picking a player from Belarus is like the anti Russian factor. It’s a terrible country with a draconian dictator, extreme media censorship, and very close minded views to things like LGTBQ issues and climate change. He will want to come over and never go back. Let’s see what he can do in the Q!
  5. Everybody seems to think that every team wants our players. Just because other teams trade a player does not mean we were ever an option as a trading partner. Also, Lind isn’t anything to worry about losing.
  6. You said he does not trade for picks. The other guy proved he does. What you consider "picks", presumably ones like 2nds and 1sts, is not what you stated, maybe just implied. So by the black and white argument he is right. I'm not saying that the picks coming back are good, but they are picks, thus invalidating your original statement.
  7. What’s the worst that could happen with the lineup change? We give up 8 goals instead of our usual 7? At this point we may as well throw s*** against the fan and see what happens. Cant really be any worse than how it’s gone so far. Just relax and enjoy the fact we get any kind of hockey to watch during this god awful pandemic. Beers up and chug ‘em.
  8. Interesting note is that Dubois’ father is an assistant coach for Winnipeg. Should be quite a departure from the Torts style of coaching.
  9. 1. Assuming that Hoglander is a nobody who nobody has ever heard of is a bold claim on the message boards of the team he is affiliated with. And where most people pencil draft picks into the lineup as soon as they are Canuck property. 2. 'Any true hockey fan knows he won't hang on to the top 6' is a another assumption. How do these 'true hockey fans' predict the future? 3. 'The top 6 spot was for Jake'. Maybe true, but you are talking about it in the past tense, so we can agree that it WAS and now is not. And maybe Jake will end up back in that spot in due time. Time will tell in the end. 4. You are correct and you do have every right to be doubtful as Hoglander is an unproven NHL commodity, but I think you have to find room to allow for the chance Hoglander can be successful. You can be doubtful and also acknowledge there is a statistical chance of success at the same time. There are no absolutes and just because Hoglander may start the season in the top 6 certainly doesn't prevent Jake from playing well and taking that spot back. It's all good, let's just do that hockey and let the chips fall where they may.
  10. This is the attitude I want in a goalie. If Holtby comes cheap I don't think it's a bad shot to take. He has pedigree, and as was previously mentioned, is 31, not 36.
  11. Disappointment is a part of life. You’ll get over it. It’s scrimmage after most of them were dormant for months. They are all easing back into things and nobody wants to get hurt in scrimmage before the playoffs start. Especially since this is as good a shot at the cup as any of them have had. They will get an exhibition game and then possibly 5 games before the real playoffs start. I dread to think how much you’d be whining if we had a bye in the first round and had to face a team that had already played a few games. To quote Allen Iverson, we talking ‘bout practice. Not a game. Practice. Enjoy the summer weather and have a lovely day.
  12. They look like brothers. Or is it just me?
  13. Even if Quinn doesn't win I think it's damn impressive that we've had a finalist for the Calder for three consecutive seasons.
  14. I fully agree, but I just had to correct you. It's penchant, not pension. I apologize for my OCD.
  15. Maybe even more interesting is the 40th is also an Adidas jersey. BRING BACK ALL THE STYLES!
