Star Gazing Sites in and around Vancouver?

07 August 2013 - 12:34 PM

Hello fellow star enthusiasts;

I don't know about you, but for me just lying down and gazing up at the night time sky is just absolutely mind-boggling, few experiences are as surreal! If you haven't done so, you definitely should.

Saying that, living in such a bustling city like Vancouver, it is hard to find an optimal spot that'll give you the best views.

I heard there's a dark sky park in Abbotsford, anyone been?
I'd imagine that places a little farther away like Whistler or Squamish might be better for it too.

Currently, I just go to wreck beach time to time or just a random hill that is elevated, but I'd be more than alright to drive a bit of ways to catch a proper glimpse at the beauty that is the night sky.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

What's your favourite place/part about Vancouver City?

18 July 2013 - 01:04 AM

So the fact of the matter is, we live in a pretty great city.

It begs the question, what do you love about it? Is it the Mountains? The rolling hills? Flowers? daffodils? boom de ya da?

I am just curious you know just in case I missed something others considered an integral part of Vancouver!

Personally for me, I like The UBC campus, Deep Cove, Biking/rollerblading Stanley Park, Dundarave Pier, Whytecliff Park, the Sea-to-sky Highway drive and all the sites it takes you to (porteau cove, shannon falls, the chief, whistler....), White Rock beach and plane watching at the airport, heck even the ferry to Victoria is sweet!

So what's your favourite part about Vancouver including all of Coquitlam (there's some awesome outdoorsy spots in coquitlam!) , Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, POCO, White Rock, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge... you name it!

So let's hear your favourite spots/places/areas/things-to-do for this great city!

ie- what are somethings every Vancouverite or tourists visting Vancouver must do!

Which Friend's Character would be best suited for Canucks Coach?

15 June 2013 - 09:59 PM

So everyone's been real negative lately and everyone needs to chill and have some faith..

Hence, time for a bit of fun, Canucks are with out a coach and the only nominees are the FRIENDS character, so you decide who its going to be!

1) Chandler Bing

- Show's lots of determination and spontaneity when he quits his stable job for a new horizon... Could relay into an interesting blend of coaching
- Would be a hoot in interviews, easily the funniest candidate

- Seems really insecure due to past history
- Humour should not be the main part of deciding an NHL-calibre
- Is controlled by his wife, very unlikely to control an NHL team

2) Ross Geller
Posted Image

- Successfully overcame living with Monica
- equipped unagi (great for shootouts, a type of sixth sense)
- Has overcome 3 divorces and continues to shine
- Can gain respect of university students
- Can have the tendency to go 'Red Ross'
- Can get accustomed to new situations (ala Ugly Naked Guy encounter)

- Has three failed marriage, can he really lead an NHL team to success?
- Shows jealousy
- Took him 9 years to get to championship (ala Rachel green)

3) Joey Tribbiani
Posted Image

- Overcame living with a million sisters
- Mentally tough, has a fair amount of hockey sense
- Shows tremendous amount of loyalty
- Could have a potential passion for hockey (ala Sandwiches)

- Lacks common sense

Monica Geller
Posted Image

- born to lead
- very organized, demands respect, expects orders to be followed
- Extremely competive
- Overachiever

- She may be too much to handle

5) Rachel Green
-Posted Image

- Has shown leadership skills in the past (teaching joey boating)
- Went from completely dependendant to independant

- may be too good looking to be effective leader for the men of NHL team
- has been known for being a pushover

6) Phoebe Buffay
Posted Image

- Life on the street has made her mentally tough, could handle the pressures of a hockey market
- could double as the team masseuse too, saving costs for management

- has many idiosyncratic traits

Honourable Mention:
Posted Image

- Loyal to an employer
- very, very commited to a goal (ala rachel, could be extrapolated to winning the stanley cup)

- might be too commited

So there you have it, who would you pick as Canucks coach?

My personal choice would be monica geller, she could really light a fire under the team!
