#12525823 [Report] Leafs fire Randy Carlyle

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 06 January 2015 - 10:58 AM

How can Nonis still have his job?

In his press conference he sounded like he had no idea what was going on, not to mention, he looked like he just polished of a family pack of Timbits.

#12458985 (DISCUSSION) Should we retired 33&22

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 24 November 2014 - 03:14 PM

Of course their numbers will be retired.

They will also win a cup before they leave.  I feel it in my bones.

Glad to hear, we'll hold you to it.

I wish that the mods could ban anyone who brings up the topic of tanking.

Never ever do you tank. You play to win 100% of the time, period!!!!!

#12186148 (Article) Canucks could roll the dice on William Nylander in draft

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 06 June 2014 - 10:20 AM

The original article isn't overly impressive. Comparing William Nylander to his dad and saying William is better seems like a rather lukewarm endorsement.

Michael Nylander was a good but hardly a great NHL player.

All in all, if the Canucks were to look to a skilled forward, Ehlers seems a better pick, he's played in North America and should have a better grasp on the game.

#12141332 [Report] Leafs discussing trades with various teams with Kadri, Kulemin, Gard...

Some advice for Trevor.....Don't talk to Nonis unless you want it broadcasted and exagerrated all over TSN by Dreger.

#12083530 [Report] Shanahan Named President of Maple Leafs

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 09 April 2014 - 03:11 PM

Good, hope the Leafs sign him before the Canucks start to think about Shanahan for GM.

#12082707 Who would you like to see FILL the vacant GM/(maybe coach). Position?

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 09 April 2014 - 10:17 AM

Benning for GM. Naslund can mentor under him as his assistant.

#12067149 POLL: Has Torts lost the room since the Calgary brawl

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 01 April 2014 - 10:48 PM

Torts lost the room well before the Calgary brawl.

That was a desperation attempt to get it back which made them fall even harder.

#12041274 [GDT] Nashville Predators vs Vancouver Canucks | SNET-P | 7:00 PM|

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 19 March 2014 - 12:51 PM

To those that want the team to lose every game for a chance at a better draft pick......certainly not real fans. Tanking is for losers. I want my team to win every time they play, for pride if for nothing else. Real Canucks are not sandbagers, other teams may be but not the Canucks. Draft picks are a crap shoot anyway, remember "fail for Nail"? What is it this year, "Bad for Ekblad or Suck for Sam"? Just put the best team on the ice and go for it everynight, that's what professional sports and entertainment is all about. Go Canucks Go!!!!!!

#11997329 Is Luongo sitting out again because he's in play?

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 01 March 2014 - 08:22 PM

Luongo is and probably always will be the best goalie to ever play for Vancouver. This team can't score so it seems like the blame rests on Lou, just like the SCF where he had two shutouts. Luongo is awesome both on and off the ice, unless he has been traded, this is a travesty. Considering how the Canucks treat Luongo as a backup goalie then Gillis better wake up and realize that he can't expect a top prospect and pick as a return, just be glad if someone offers a 3rd or 4th round pick and let Luongo go free.

#11940452 Mike Santorelli out for remainder of the season following shoulder surgery

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 31 January 2014 - 10:17 AM

Too bad how the Shanahan justice system fined Hanzel more or less the equivalent of a large double double whereas this injury has possibly cost Santorelli hundreds of thousands, if not millions.

Not to mention his value to the Canucks.

#11850018 (Speculation) Scouts From 7 Different Teams at Fla/Mtl Game (Van one of them)

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 16 December 2013 - 12:29 PM

corrado hasn't really done much in the pro leagues. I don't get the hype for this guy. he played a couple games up here and I really didn't see anything spectacular. especially with the great play from tanev and stanton. not very much room on the roster for any other defenders. at best I seem turning into a 6th defender like mike weaver.

Wow, 30 some odd games as a pro and you come to this assessment of Corrado? The main reason he's on the farm right now is because he can be. Everyone else would have to clear waivers so there is not a roster spot for him.

#11849848 [Eklund] Rangers may have made a deal?

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 16 December 2013 - 08:34 AM

So the most recet headlines from Eklund in recent weeks include:

- Rumors of Rangers Deal.

- Rumors, Blues, Flyers, Rangers, Jets, Bruins, Canucks, Flames, Kings, Isles, +

- Couturier Value on the Rise...Edmonton interest continues...

- Caps want Edler. Some info on Habs and Avs. The Habs Are Targeting:

- Banged Up Bluelines - Gleason Trade Discussions Heating Up

- Habs/Avalanche Talks "Something Major." Del Zotto, Gleason, Kings/Sabres...

Anyway, the point being that none of these deals have happened, nor have any other ones that Eklund "breaks". As said before, Eklund's rumors should be posted in the "Armchair GM" forum.

#11843284 [Official] Canucks Injury Thread [UPDATED]

Posted by GarthButcher5 on 13 December 2013 - 10:22 AM

Just wondering if this thread is still being updated.

The only current injury listed at the beginning is Schroeder, I'm trying to find out more about Edler, how long he's out and such.
