Di Maria is a great player, but, I can't see him helping all that much in a 3-5-2. Where is he going to play? I could see him playing behind the strikers in a 4-1-2-1-2 or in the middle in a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3. United need help at the back. The way they're playing the 3-5-2 is really like a flat back 5. Where does Di Maria fit? -

Sad thing is, this is a big part of why the NASL died... Washed up, aging imports. The other league killer was expansion into unproven or weak markets. I hope MLS has read the history books. -

Looked as if there was only 1 team on the pitch against West Brom. They were terrible. Reds looked great. You're gonna do well when you get 4 goals from your strikers. Back 3 looks a little sketchy, at times, but, infinitely better than last year's group. It'll be even better when Enrique gets back. Mignolet has been awesome, too. Still 3/4 of the year to go... Hope this carries on for a CL spot for next season. -

Just curious, topbananas, which strike partnership do you see as firing better than Suarez-Sturridge, right now, as of October 7th? -

Cheers, Bizarre. I'm not a fan of Suarez' antics, but, as a footballer, there are few better in the world right now. After the Palace match, where both Suarez and Sturridge scored, it's hard to deny that they are the best strike partnership in the EPL right now. -

Scousers 3 - Sunderland 1. 13 points from 6 games and 2nd place is a nice start. 9 out of the next 12 points would be nice. Arsenal will be a tough one. Suarez / Sturridge duo could be the best in the EPL. Go, Reds! -

Right here, my Scottish Brother! I am alive and kicking. Good to see Hoops do what they should against a Minnow. Home leg should be better still. -

Suarez' talents say he should play in the best league in the world, the EPL. His personality tells me he could end up playing back in Uruguay. He must have played his last game as a Red. The club's fans, Rodgers, team officials cannot back him publicly in this one, can they? If they do, I'll go back to supporting Gillingham with all my might. The video evidence is damning and because of it, the FA have to come down hard on this repeat offender. Every time I see the footage, I think of a real-life zombie. Look at the expression on his face... The anger in his eyes... The razor-sharp buck teeth... It's "The Walking Freakin' Dead" in real time. All joking aside, this example of the living dead must be banished. What's next? Spitting in Sir Alex' Eye? Beating up an old lady and stealing her purse at Merseyside? -

I love Reds, topbananas, but I cannot defend this. Suarez is a gifted footballer but such a flawed person. I think he's played his last match at Anfield. Liverpool is one of the top football brands in the world. They don't need a zombie like Suarez pulling them down. -
Burrows is a selfless teammate who will do whatever the coaching staff asks to help the Canucks win games. We all know he can play with The Twins. He plays well with Kes, ES and PK. He can play on a "shutdown line" as he is now. He's even filled in as a defenceman. All of this and you never hear a complaint. He always has that impish grin on his face, too. Another guy I'd love to see as a career Canuck. Burrows... Do we really need him? Switch one word and you get... Burrows... We really do need him!

This came on the telly while I was reading posts. Didn't see what it was selling, but, a great Kinks song, nonetheless.

I love talking footy with people like those on this thread! I understand your supporting ManU over Bolton. Wanderers never really do much, player-wise, to improve. They are mostly going to be a bottom-third / Championship club. I would love to see Ronaldo back in the EPL at Old Trafford. Baines would look good in red, too. I'd rather see him with Reds, though! He'd just have to move dressing rooms cross town. Selling Rooney would be weird, to me. Where would he go? Spain? Italy? Liverpool ( )? That would provide some funds for a new centre back pairing, for sure. I agree with your assessment of Liverpool. Need more seats to provide $$$ for players. Can't always have owners just buying players with their personal stashes. Carragher and Gerrard are not replaceable. For now, maybe Rodgers goes 5 in the middle with Gerrard and Lucas playing in front of the back 4, Suarez up front, with Sturridge supporting behind, Downing and Hendo wide? Back 4 of Skertl / Agger, Johnson and Enrique wide? Anyways, lots of work to do here! Lescott and Smalling didn't play particularly well against Macedonia, I don't think. On the tying goal, where were one of them to challenge for the original corner? From what I saw, they spent a lot of time backing off defensively and giving territory to the Macedonian strikers. They were lucky not to concede a couple late due to this. England looked quite good for most of the match and should have secured the 3 points by halftime. Oh, well. On another note, not a thing to say about the Scots. Doesn't matter who's managing, it's still the same old Scots. They remind me of Canada, only Scotland is better. -

Who do you see as a centre half for United? Boateng? Mascherano? Subotic or Hummels? Sakho? I take it you see Evra on the way out, too, eh? Baines is a global top 3 Left back, IMO. Ronaldo, Eh? What are the chances, do you think, of United resigning him? Any ideas about what we Scousers might do to improve for '13-'14? Is Rodgers the right man for the job? Is Reina done? Who replaces Stevie G as the guy playing behind Suarez and Sturridge? Is Sturridge the right guy to play alongside Suarez? Are Skrtel and Agger the men to anchor the back end? Is it time to let the kids (Suso, Sterling, Coates, Coutinho, Shelvey, Wisdom, Pacheco, etc.) take over? What say you? Edit: I noticed you live in Lancashire. Who do you support? I would guess United, by your posts. Other guesses based on geography... Blackpool, Burnley, Morecambe (bahahaa!), Bolton, Preston? I'd guess Wanderers. -

I don't know about you, but, I would watho have Wio and Phiw Jones anchowing the back wine. Speaking of 2nd place teams, right now, there's also a chance that Spain doesn't move through. Imagine the World Cup without the previous champions! Freakin' Finns just packed the box yesterday. The rest of the world just learned how to counter Spain's attack quite effectively.
