#12400268 Shots fired on Parliament Hill, soldier shot at National War Memorial

Posted by Kulikov on 22 October 2014 - 01:46 PM

Maybe you missed the part about respect for the soldier and his family. Good people die every day.

Agree 100% very sad thing, but i'll never understand why all the busy bodies lose their minds and feel the need to chime in on why they think it happened and who's responsible when things like this happen... Like it matters what they think.

Blah, blah politics, religion, war, terrorism, blah blah. Save the horse sh*t for hockey people.

Obviously I feel terrible for the soldier that was shot, but a couple pieces of garbage with guns does not mean we are at war. Spare us the conspiracy crap, worse things happen in canada all the time. This one just happens to be at an important building.

#12396625 Zack Kassian not what we think he is?

Posted by Kulikov on 20 October 2014 - 08:52 PM

Bertuzzi was playing on our 4th line at age 24.

Comparing Kassian to guys like Nash, Lucic, and Bertuzzi right now is dumb. These guys either got their shot right away on weak teams, or had to earn their way up like Bertuzzi. Kassian will have to do what Bertuzzi did to become a top player. that takes patience.

No wonder fans in this city are always so bitter. They have ridiculous expectations that are never met.

Kassian hasn't had to earn anything and that might be part of the problem. He's been given every chance to succeed, it's no secret MG pushed him on 2 coaches. I've been saying for a long time now he belongs on the 4th line. He's physical, can play in the other teams end a bit but is a liability against quality competition. Pretty much exactly what you would classify as a 4th liner.

I'm not saying that's what he'll always be, but right now he shouldn't be in the top 6.

#12300028 NHL 15 Thread

Posted by Kulikov on 02 August 2014 - 12:03 PM

I am so fed up with people coming on here and bashing the game. So far we've had a miniscule amount of actual gameplay footage, and people are stating - for fact - that 'NHL 15 looks mechanically identical to NHL 14'.

I didn't like the concept of Destiny. I thought the budget was ludicrous. I thought the art looked poor. But I did not comment on the mechanics of the game, or the missions etc, until I played the demo. That demo confirmed (and then some) how poor Destiny is, but I didn't say one bad word about the actual game until I'd played it. I'd suggest all the NHL 15 bashers do the same.

If you can't tell from the video that it's the same skating mechanic, the same shooting mechanic, the same passing mechanic, the same overpowered checking mechanic...I'd suggest you haven't played this game long enough or well enough to know what you're talking about.

#12285704 [Official] Destiny

Posted by Kulikov on 21 July 2014 - 05:29 PM

With the Beta down for 2 days for maintenance, thought i'd share my thoughts. My first one, i'm absolutely in love. This is the game i've been waiting for forever. Space, Mass Effect, Cod, Halo with the depth of skyrim all rolled into one. There are only a couple PVP maps with basically only domination as a mode and 6 chapters on part of earth in the story mode. So yes, that could get repetitive, but this will likely be one of the least repetitive finished products ever made.

PVP is as smooth as COD yet as innovative as Mass Effect multiplayer, and the learning curve is steep, but the player customization and sheer depth of everything in this game is akin to Skyrim. PVP rewards skill and teamwork, you can play any style or use any tactic and be successful if you are skilled. I love that and that there is a way to counter everything.

Here's a brief breakdown of the classes as they are in the beta so you can get right down to business when you start your game up.

Hunter: My preferred class, speed and lethality. Basically a Rogue class, if you are like me and are quicker and more accurate on the sticks than most people this class will reward you. Quick, shifty movements paired with accuracy and lethal offense. Picture Batman sifting his way through baddies. The Golden Gun power will either have you shrieking with delight or acknowledging your impending doom if you are on the wrong side of it.

Warlock: Sort of a Mage class, if I wasn't so suited to a Hunter i'd be a Warlock. This is very much a Mass Effect type of character with it's biotic/tech type attacks. It's a pretty average class for weapon use, but it's biotic/tech attacks are devastating. Basically it has the biotic explosion of the N7 Fury from Mass Effect 3, which is extremely useful.

Titan: If you are a hardcore COD player, or military tactical type player this is for you. Also, it's a tank class. You won't be jumping off walls or using speed and shadows as your ally. You're going in straight lines outlasting anyone you meet head on. Your first "Power" is Havoc, which is essentially the same potent ground smash of the ME3 Vanguard. Save it and use it to turn the tide in your favor or clear control points, preferably on multiple enemies.

As for the story and free roam, it's just as good as the PVP. Again, what you can do is limited to one section of earth and just 6 chapters in the beta, but we know Bungie does this as good as anyone, and it's all co-op. Even if the Beta if you look hard enough there is hidden loot all over, hidden dungeons with invincible bosses, and ways to induce hoard mode and ramp up the difficulty which is the best way to get good gear. We haven't even left earth yet...There are ships and speeders, you don't need these unless the game is going to be massive.

IMO both the Destiny campaign and PVP are going to be amongst the best and most rewarding I've ever seen, I've played games that were one or the other but not both. I had high expectations for this game, but they were immediately absolutely smashed.

#12281479 Who do you prefer to watch latenight?

Posted by Kulikov on 18 July 2014 - 02:17 PM

Craig Ferguson is the best, and you don't even have him up there brutal.

This times a hundred. I like Fallon and Conan too, but I absolutely love Ferguson.

#12280314 Would you support getting Gino's 29 retired or putting him in the Ring of...

Posted by Kulikov on 17 July 2014 - 07:30 PM

Of course he should be honored in some way, and I think it would not be hard to find an original and meaningful way to do so. But... I already don't like that we are retiring guys numbers that have never won anything. I believe to have your number retired you should at minimum be in the HHOF.

There needs to be a very high standard for these type of things. Again, that's not to say there shouldn't be a very meaningful way to honor guys like Gino, Naslund, smyl, Linden. I just don't believe they should have numbers retired.

Being the least interesting team on the ice every single game.

#12252358 [Signing] Canucks sign Radim Vrbata

Posted by Kulikov on 02 July 2014 - 08:32 PM

Good job. But where's Jensen. Why would Vey get a spot over Jensen?

His numbers in the AHL crush Jensen's numbers, plus he is waiver eligible and Jensen is not. I'd like to see Jensen on the team, but after some thought I'd like to see him play with Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Fox...etc in Utica too. I'm fine with it either way, besides there's always injury call ups.

#12252071 Kudos to the Sedins

I'm sure as much as they'd like to win a cup they know that no contender is in a position to take both of them.

#12250959 [Report] Burrows' Said No To Waiving NTC

Posted by Kulikov on 02 July 2014 - 02:33 PM

25 goal scorer 5 out of the last 6 seasons, yeah he's terrible. Plus he's now our best 2 way player with Kesler gone. Lets be real here, Vrbata is gonna get paid way more than Burr and despite averaging similar point totals brings way less to the table.

#12241027 [Trade] VAN acquires Linden Vey

Posted by Kulikov on 29 June 2014 - 09:24 PM

We do have a lot of RW. One has gotta be moved, unless we are putting Burrows and Vey in other spots.

I suppose Jensen being in the AHL would help too.

Kassian Vey Hansen Dorsett

Burrows Jensen

Burrows can play anything so that's not a problem, the issue is only Jensen and Burrows can play with the Sedins but Burrows will probably be needed on the 2nd line.. Burrows had a whack year, but he's been an automatic 25 goal scorer every other year while being one of our best 2 way players. Incredibly valuable at his price tag.

In my opinion as it stands right now it's..

Obviously there's room for the right wings to shuffle up and down, but that's a lot of youth that's for sure.

#12238978 BUF initiate compliance buy out on Ehrhoff

Posted by Kulikov on 29 June 2014 - 11:09 AM

It very much is. Fans who want to re-sign Ehrhoff are still trying to recapture that 2011 feeling. It didn't work for Darryl Sutter when he re-signed Jokinen and Tanguay.

I doubt JB is even considering him anyways. Our defense is crowded and Ehrhoff doesn't fit with his vision of "meat and potatoes style" type of player.

With one siging you fix Edler, fix the powerplay, and can trade Tanev to fill a huge hole on the 2nd line. He is absolutely going to think about it, and think very hard. He'd be an absolute boob if he didn't.

actually, the have 6

At some point we're going to need an elite playmaker, i'd say meat and potatoes are covered.
