But the stats of our goalies are inflated by our team remember? Luongo is going to do better in other teams like Tampa with no defense? Maybe he can perform like in Florida, but he didn't win a Vezina there either.
Don't kid yourself, if Luongo won us the president's trophy it would have been in the 07 year. Our overall team won us the president's trophy, mainly our offensive depth. You can't say it was mainly Luongo when there is no proof Schneider couldn't have done it.
Do people actually think we need to depend on our goalies to win regular season games? People are acting like if we play Schneider throughout the season we will miss the playoffs, boy these Luongo fans are unreal. He has played better than Luongo in his given sample size, they never gave him the chance to play more games, and people really think hes going to be terrible?
It's not an excuse. You have problems with reading comprehension, so let me dumb it down for you. Any starter in the league(goalie) has a backup. It's not a new concept. You see the backup relieves the starter when they slump or they may be fatigued. Shocking isn't it? Only a numb-skull would compare these goalies with 33 games. Are you kidding me? Now you want to completely disregard all luongos accomplishments? If you're running a business do you hire people without a resume? Duh.
The only thing Luongo has accomplish was giving the opponents 8 goals a game or somehow choking away in the last few minutes of play when he could hold his ground. Olympics, he lets one in at the last few minutes, Crosby bails him out. Hawks game 7 he lets one in at last minute, Burrows bails him out. He singlehandely cost us a few chicago games the past years by his horrible play, yet when he plays one good game all the Luongo fans come out. When he has a bad game you homers just blame the defense, how many times do you have to blame defense when Schneider is in net? That's what i thought. A back up goalie who bails out his defense, but when your 5.3 million starter lets in a goal, its the defenses fault.
What has Luongo done that Schneider couldn't do, if not better? Schneider plays a solid positional style, while Luongo falls after a fake out. If you watched how each goalie played you would be more frightened whenever the other team shoots the puck at Luongo. One good game and the Luongo fanboys forget all the games he gave away. He was the best player in games 1 and 2? If Schneider played games 1 and 2, he would have done equally as well if not better. His positioning would have made saves Luongo couldn't make on his belly. You are in denial if you can't see that. Luongo has a fat contract and doesn't shut the door as well as Schneider, why would you keep him when the other cost significantly less? Luongo is a diver also, and if you want to get rid of that from the team, you should start with him. It is pretty disgusting how he flops when he gets tapped. A snowshower can get him off his game, let alone a little bump. I have seen none of that from Schneider. That's how you get respect from the league, which is why there is so many Luongo haters outside of Canuck fans.
CoHo has some of the quickest hands I've ever seen. He sees the ice very well, makes very quick decisions and then follows those decisions with very accurate passes and shots. He doesn't get the job done by overpowering anyone or by grinding it out, but what he does do he does extremely well, and that is, pick his spots. He waits, he pounces on opportunities, and he makes them count, and this type of play absolutely can work very well in playoff hockey.
The thing is people say Hodgson wouldn't have mattered in this series. Last time I checked they were mostly 1 goal games, and given how clutch sometimes Hodgson is, I would take my chances with him. He tends to pot a few against top notch teams.
You know who is the real reason to blame for the Hodgson trade? It's AV, if Hodgson, his agent, or parents requested more ice time or a trade then Gillis had no choice. AV didn't play our young star who was doing better than raymond ever will. Why slot Raymond on the second line when he could have gave Cody more ice time on the 2nd line? Hodgson was one of the top rookies in his FIRST full year in the NHL, and he is outdoing Raymond. Not to mention he is pretty clutch against top teams. Instead of looking for a 2nd line player for Kesler, we could have used Hodgson instead of Raymond, Lappy, or even Booth. I know he is another center but he is still young, and was doing great, we had time to swap him and Kesler around as centers to see who would do better. If AV gave Hodgson more icetime over Raymond, he would have stayed (unless he didn't request a trade).
