Just thought I'd take out some of the negative energy that has infected Canuck Nation after what happened at Rogers Arena today. I am embarrassed that the fans did what they did but on the other hand, they were probably just cheering for Schneider who was taking over.
For those of you who are blaming Luongo for the 4 goals against are just plain ignorant. Luongo maybe gave up one bad goal in this game (Getzlaf) but didn't get much help from the D after that. In the last few weeks Luongo has been solid for this team and hasn't had a bad game since early in March when the team was on a slump. He's been solid again this year and is one of the reasons why the team is where they are in the standings.
Last season Luongo had a career year and took the team to the Stanley Cup Finals where they came within one game of winning the STANLEY CUP. Did he have bad games?, yes...was it his fault? no. Why? Because the rest of the team didn't support him by putting the puck in the net. So I just wanted to give Luongo a big thank you for what he has accomplished up until now as a Canuck and I wish him all the best in the playoffs. This is our year Canucks fans! Let's give our #1 goaltender some support and appreciation!!
Schnieder will be good, but I do not see him posting these numbers as a starter when having to play most of the games. I think if canucks somehow manage to trade Lu, I think that could bite us too. We all know goalies can be good for longer periods and just look good Thomas was at his age.
Once Schnieder becomes a starter, he won't be the same goalie as he is now playing as a backup with great numbers. Just because he will be playing a lot more games and will have the added pressure of being a teams number 1 goalie.
Schnieder will get a much bigger return making our team better in other areas that are always being overlooked. Goaltending is not a problem and won't be for a while. Just ask yourselves, say Schnieder plays the entire playoffs comming up instead of Lu, does our cup chances change drastically or at all? I don't think so.
I thought last year was. Or the year before. Or the year before.
People only remember Luongo when he isn't the greatest player on the ice, and forget him ever being the best player on it.
Luongo's career-defining moments to him and to the fans of Vancouver and the NHL are going to be completely different because most morons will remember him as that guy who could never make a save. In reality, he's one of the best things to ever happen to this franchise.
As much as I want the Canucks to hoist the cup, our fans don't deserve one. CDC is a cesspool of the worst fans of any sports franchise.
Why are people so quick to throw this team under the bus? These are the guys that took us to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals less than a year ago. Until two weeks ago they hadn't lost 2 games in regulation since November.
