Thank you for a spectacular season

I want to thank the entire Canucks organization, and especially the players, for an amazing season, and an amazing run at the cup. This was one of the most enjoyable seasons that I can remember. Our whole family enjoyed watching the games, and even made it to four season games, and two playoff games - the entire experience was amazing. To the players, be proud of what you have accomplished. To finish #1 in the NHL, capture the Northwest Division and Western Conference titles, and to finish

To the team and fans...

I hope the Canucks know that the true/real fans still support them and appreciate this cup run they have given us. I feel privileged to have been a part of it. The riots make me sick and disgusted. To see the team's sad faces last night broke my heart and I would do anything to change that. This team has taken us right to the very end and put their all out there. That is all I could have asked for and I truly hope they know this. It's hard to put all my thoughts into words right now becaus

How i got my heart broken in hockey!

I cannot believe how awful last night felt for someone like me who didn't know hockey until 2 years ago. I was told that part of living in Canada was learning hockey -- if you're fortunate enough to have the skills to play it or at the very least understand how it is played to become a fan-- Hockey is our Religion. So, with a family like mine that worships hockey - i became a fan... a big fan.. i have now an unbelievable amount of respect for the sport and the people who played it as i think

2 events that changed the Stanley Cup Finals

I believe there were 2 events that happened in seconds that had a huge influence on how the 2011 Stanley Cup Final series wound up. The first was the late hit by Rome on Horton. For the Canucks, it wasn't so much the hit as it was the suspension. After that, the Canucks looked timid - they didn't want to hit the Bruins with any sort of impact for fear of a penalty. That hit fired the Bruins up and it helped them win their first 2 home games of this series. Now, it's a best of 3. The

Stay Classy my friends

the better team won, end of story. At the end of the day tim thomas kept his five hole and his mouth shut. As much as i hate his stupid smile, it was a good year. series changer = dan hamphuis injury, we had no shutdown D and luongo five hole was so big i bet a beach ball could've went in there. Stay Classy Canuck Fans. The boys had a good year. Disappointing ending to a fairytale story.

How the game tonight could go...

I'm just thinking that if we keep a positive attitude, we might win this. This could go either way, depending on the way we're playing. If Lu is on one of his good days, we have a better chance. If our defence isn't standing still and can get to breakaways fast enough, that's another issue out of the way... If our offense can find a way to draw Thomas out of the crease like Burrows did in OT of Game 2, we might have a better chance to score. If he's deep in the net, there's a slight chance that

CCC - Clay's Canucks Commentary for June 15, 2011: It All Comes Down To This (Nothing Else Matters)

We're a few hours away from the most highly-anticipated game in the 40-year history of the Vancouver Canucks: game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Canucks and the Boston Bruins. It's been a wild and entertaining final with a little bit of everything: good goaltending, shaky goaltending, last-minute goals, quite overtime finishes, fights, hits, injuries, taunting, and even a suspension. But for the Vancouver Canucks, even after 7 pre-season games, 82 regular season games, and 24 playof

Canuck Fans In Edmonton

In an attempt to get all Canuck fans off the couch and down to a local watering hole in Edmonton, I am calling for all Canuck fans located in the city of Edmonton to head to Hudsons Downtown location. 11248 104 Ave. As a loyal canuck fan and owner of the Edmonton Canuck Truck, that is where I will be tonight and hoping others will join in the festivities for GAME 6 against the hated Bruins. Plus........Hudsons has pretty good wings!

Why can't people just be fans of their own teams?

Real Canucks fans aren't saying things like "our player is better than their player". What we are saying is this team is the best overall "team" this year. That is, they are not individuals they are a team. They don't care about individual awards - they care about what their team does. They don't hand out "player of the game" awards - as all of them together are better than one. I find it hilarious how the haters were going on and on about the Canucks individual efforts (last few seasons) a

One Win Away

After a seemingly endless road to the Stanley Cup the Canucks now go into Boston just one win away from the biggest moment in Vancouver history. Yes, bigger than any moment of the Olympics. While it is a great position to be in, it's not a very comfortable position. I found it quite amusing that the ridiculously biased Boston media basically wrote off the Canucks chances with the series 2-2. Now that it's 3-2 Canucks they are not quite so arrogant. The reality is that this series still could go

CCC - Clay's Canucks Commentary for June 13, 2011: Bring the Cup Home!

With a win tonight in Boston, the Vancouver Canucks can win the Stanley Cup for the first-time in their 40-year history. But it won't be easy...the Bruins hammered the Canucks by a combined score of 12-1 in games 3 and 4. The Canucks can look to the Dallas Mavericks for inspiration; the Mavs won their first-ever NBA title in franchise history by beating the Miami Heat in game 6...on the road. Sound familiar? If the Canucks do win, I hope their post-game celebration is a bit more memorable

Stanley Cup Game 5 Recap: Bobby Lou To The Rescue

My oh my, how things turn on a dime. Momentum. Energy. Confidence. A 31-save shutout for Bobby Lou has put Vancouver back in the driver’s seat. Roberto Luongo’s Game 5 shutout is his fourth of the playoffs after posting goose eggs in Game 1 of the Chicago series, the Nashville series, and the Boston series. But this is a big one. It comes on the heels of two less than stellar games. While the lovable yoga master Tim Thomas has been getting all the love for his charismatic excellence, Roberto Lu

You can win it Canucks!

I wanted to highlight the word "Can" in Canucks, and the word "Can" in Canada. This is a game between this nation and our neighbor. As we have seen in the Olympics, how we can unite. I hope that we stay united for our Canadian Team. We are the "Can Do" People. As it is already said, "This is Our Time.". We are going to back up these men who are here at this moment in time. Not to mention Mr. O Canada. They have come very far. Two more and we have it. Let's believe in them, and th

CCC - Clay's Canucks Commentary for June 10, 2011: It's Called Home-Ice Advantage for a Reason

The Boston Bruins have evened the Stanley Cup Finals at 2 games apiece after another dominant win, this time defeating the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 in game 4 in Boston. As the series returns to Vancouver for game 5, I have noticed that there are many Canucks fans looking to jump off of the bandwagon. While I have no problem with fans jumping on to the bandwagon, I can't stand it when people jump off. Canucks fans need to be loud and proud in game 5 at Rogers Arena. In winning the Presidents'
