Sorry to say but the success of the canucks this year is making me uneasy...

Sorry to say but, the success of the canuck's is making me uneasy. I have been a season ticket holder since 1976 and have too often had my hopes dashed by the canucks. Having said that, there are things that are different about this team than any other team in canuck history:

1) Every line has scoring ability.

2) Their defense (when healthy) is the most mobile defensive group in team history.

3) They have two goaltenders of equal talent.

The one thing I am not sure weather they have or not is a player, who when, the checking gets tighter has the ability to preserver, fight through tight checking of playoff time and still produce offense. In 1994 we didn't have that Pavel Bure was great during the regular season but, at playoff time he couldn't break through the tight checking. Do we have the ability to go all the way and win the holy grail of hockey the Stanley Cup? Only time will tell...

As a long time Canuck fan, now living in Alberta. i amuse myself by telling the Oiler fans that Gretsky has retired, the usual reply is that they have X number of Stanley Cup banners in their arena.

It would be nice for our Canucks to win one cup, but right now I enjoy the regular season.

it is a lot of fun watching the flames self destruct and the oilers hope and believe for a second coming. I guess I am trying to say, Enjoy the moment.

Well right now I am grateful for the way the team is playing and for the team that we have playing right now, and I beleive this team has more than what it takes to finally win that Silver Cup we all want as Canuck fans, and even if they fall short of that goal, I will still love them and appreciate all of the hard-work they put into the season and giving me some more great memories of my team. Go Canucks Go!

Superfan91

Power forwards that have been a feature on every cup winning team get traded all the time but the Canucks have so much money tied up into the (soon to become backup) goalie that they cannot afford one.

Chris Stewart,

Nathan Horton,

Michael Ryder,

James Neal,

Dustin Byfuglien.

All cup winning teams since the lockout have done it with goalies making well under 50% of Luongo's salary, but none have done it with out prominant power forwards.

Poor reasoning. Just because "Power forwards" have been part of cup winning teams doesn't mean a team without one cannot win the Stanley cup.

How do you define a power forward and whose to say a player in the Canucks locker room cannot fill that role? (Kesler has been extremely effective in front of the net, and Hansen/Torres have been tough to get off the puck at times? Not everything is so clear cut. This isn't NHL 11; this is real life)

Dude, Tell me about it.

I went to my first Canucks Game in Oct of 1983. It was the Blues in town to take on the Canucks. We got to the PC a little late but as soon as I walked in the door the Canucks scored to take a 1-0 lead. What an omen!! As soon as my dad got me a hot dog and drink I got to my seat I watched the Blues score the next six goals.

That's what being a Canucks fan has become. We can't look at something good without thinking that something bad is coming. It's our curse.

One season will cure all that ails us. Let's hope that this is the season. I can live with the bad for next year.

Ok Superfan, Lets go back to '94. How did this team do in the regular season? We were three points away from missing the playoffs all together and we wouldn't be talking about the 94 run.I wouldn't call a 41-40-1 record and 85 points is anything to be scary about going into the post season. The question would be how are we going to survive!!!!

The team gel at the right time. Thats's all nothing special. Quinn going into the playoffs had the same core for the last three years.

The Canucks started the playoffs as a 7th seed. So every round ,all the way to the final we were the underdogs all the way.

Totally disagree with you on Pavel Bure disappearing act in the 94 playoffs , 16 goals,15 assist 31 points in 24 playoff games. I would say he did a pretty good job against the so call tight checking.

You can't compare one team from another. Their unique in there own way. Every year is different, We don't have the same coaching staff or Gm for the last 40 years so you can't say I'm a little uneasy. And we don't have GM WHO IS satisfied.
