It’s been three days since we last played and honestly, I’m getting kind of bored. I don’t like long breaks between games and when you have this much time, you don’t know what to do after a while – I just want to play. It’s actually kind of painful having to wait so long between games. I’d rather play everyday or play nine games in 16 nights than have one game every week.

While we were on the road last week, there was less free time and when we got back, we played right away so that was good but this week I’ve had a bit more time on the xbox. A lot of you guys are asking about my online name and I don’t think I’m going to go there. There are for sure a lot of good players out there and always so many people online. Yesterday I played and there were close to 500,000 people playing.

Like I said, I haven’t really had much time to play between games and travel – the only time I get is usually later at night when my wife falls asleep on the couch. No one else on the team plays video games (that I know of), except Luc but he’s big into Guitar Hero 3 – I think he’s a musician or something so that’s more his thing.

We did signing day today. Signing day is where the community department sets up a bunch of jerseys, hats, and other merchandise that gets signed by the players and is donated to various charities and foundations affiliated with the Canucks. There is a lot of stuff – but today wasn’t that bad actually. At the beginning of the year, that was the major signing day that was set up downstairs that filled the whole hall and then around the corner and around the corner.

They’re only set up three times a year, and usually pretty close to the beginning of the year so we get it all done with. They’ve been really good with it and it’s good to do something for charity.

The only problem I have with it is that the new jersey fabric is really hard to sign because the pen gets stuck in the little holes because it’s kind of got this texture to it. Because of that though, the signatures are hard to read too and they don’t look so great – I mean, I can’t even read my own on there.

There were a lot of items that the whole team signs and some of the guys were saying how Markus has the best signature and I noticed that Alex Edler's isn’t that good. You couldn’t read it, it almost resembled a seventh grader but I’m also not saying that mine is that much better.

It’s definitely changed quite a bit since I was seventeen and definitely since the first one I signed. I think the first one I ever signed was at the big Quebec tournament when I was in peewee on the local Little Caesar’s team in Michigan. It was just regular cursive, “Ryan Kesler”. I don’t write out my whole name any more, now it’s just “RK”, it’s much more efficient, especially for signing day.

We’re practicing tomorrow in the morning and then flying out to Calgary for the game Thursday. I think if we play a solid defensive game, limit their opportunities, and just play a hard working game, we’ll be right in there. That’s how we’re going to have to win now with some of they we have out of the lineup.

I think everybody played well Saturday in Colorado, Roberto had a great game, our power-play was clicking, I think we really limited their opportunities, we played a good line matching game and I think that was the difference. We’ve just to keep it up and come out with the two points.

Thanks for taking the time to write a blog for us. :)

Smart move on keeping your online name a secret.

And yeah, the schedule is retarded this year, hey? What's up with that, seriously. I keep thinking there should be a game tonight, and I keep having to remind myself it's four days and no game day. Retarded.

Congratulations to you and your game you've been doing awesome!

I know you guys are going to deal with the tough times the best you can, it sucks and I'm sorry to see it happen, but somethings things happen for a reason, something bad to force something good down the road. And yeah, you really stepped it up Saturday, and maybe keeping it simple is the way to go. Good luck against Colorado and Calgary!

Thanks so much for taking the time to blog, Kes.

They are so much fun to read, we all idolise you and the team where I'm from.

My family's concensus is that you've been the best forward to date (and the most effective/efficient one as well).

Keep it up ;)

Thanks for taking the time to blog. It's definitely interesting to read. I don't like the schedule this year, it's weird how theres 2 games in like 10 days then all of the sudden 4 games in 6 nights. I wish they would've evened it out a bit more. It's gets boring without pretty much a week of no Canucks hockey. This is a tough month with all those divisional games coming up too, anyways good luck against the Flames!

Kes, you have been playing super well for weeks now and I tip my hat to you. I wish you and the team success in the coming weeks. The Colorado game was a blessing to watch and you all took a step in the right direction.

I play guitar and don't like Guitar Hero.

I suckered in to a PS3 and only play NHL 08 and Tiger Woods 08 until the new Grand Theft Auto comes out.

Anyways, keep up the great work and thanks for taking time to blog your thoughts. Yeah, what the hell is up with the big layoff here, and how do you guys shake off the rust pregame? With a super hard workout?

Heh. Go figure. I scored your puck off the wall at the Celeb dinner last night and I have to say your auto looks pretty good. Thanks for the photos too and good luck this week.

Good blog Ryan.

Keep up your hard work. You are one of the few players I consistently notice shift after shift making that extra effort to forecheck, backcheck, and make the smart plays.

Douse those Flames tomorrow.

Always an entertaining read, Ryan, cheers for taking the time.

Back to a bit of hockey now, huh? You have been a pleasure to watch this season.

Hope that finger's ok, looked nasty. You need reinforced gloves, mate :)

wonder if I can post a pic on here - want to see that fresh faced kid that signed in cursive, guys? :)

Some one tell Nassy and the Twins to call Fabian Brunnstrom and ask him to be a canuck just like Burnaby Joe did with Smith before Detroit as usual picks him up. Do you think we could use the firepower? While they are on the phone give Peter a call and tell him that Fabian Brunnstrom is on the way and Philly wants Matt's so come play with us. God knows that would light a fire under Nassy's ass!! Is Nonus doing anything these days?? I wouldn't sleep too long as you might wake up missing the playoffs and pissing in Loui's net for yet an other year. At least we are tanking now and it shows that we need the help instead of limping into the playoffs with false expectations that we could do it!! Days and nights on the phone boys! Get the players evolved! With the makings of what could be a dynasty team with some more scoring and few more hits it blows my mind that no power forward would like to drop his pants (salary wise) and play for a cup! Maybe a couple of cups with Loui! So sad, for the love of the game my ass!
