  1. I can see the quote now. "Canucks would have won the cup if Stecher was 1 inch taller"

  3. Define "small"? He is and inch or two shorter than ideal but I have seen him listed in the 192-195lb range. Tanev is 185 Bartkowski 196 Hutton 183 Sbisa 198 ..and Duncan Keith is 6'0" and 192lbs. pretty much the same size (maybe lighter) as Stecher. If it is true that he is above average in skating, puck handling, compete level etc...it doesn't seem his size should be an issue./

  13. Cags is a stellar college level player but I do have my concerns regarding whether he translates to the NHL level. He's got the skills but he lacks in size and he isn't overly fast. Very cerebral player. Unreal compete level and a tremendous worker. He's going to have a career playing professionally but I'm just not convinced it will be on an NHL team. That said, he has proved so many people wrong that I'm not going to say its impossible. As far as Stetcher goes, he's fantastic. He's been UND's best player for 2 years. Came in 3 years ago without anyone knowing who he was an

  15. What a joke. Are you suggesting that a goalie that hasn't played through a full 80 game season is suddenly feeling ready for the NHL? How can you give an unproven prospect so much leverage that you have to trade both your goalies to let him play in the big leagues?

  19. Cagguila is small but plays nothing like Vey. He plays an aggressive game not unlike Gallagher or Marchand. I was actually pretty surprised when I watched him play for the first time. He finishes all his checks and goes to the net hard. I would say his style of play will translate much better to the NHL.

  20. if i was demko, thats what I would do, burn a year of elc right away, get a feel for the A, see the pace so he knows what to train for over the summer and be way ahead of the game come next fall. that would be best for his development as an athlete.

  23. Pretty high praise, no matter how long you've been following UND hockey. That compete level certainly explains the recent comment that "all Canucks management and coaching" were in on recruiting him. He has the skill and smarts, but that compete and desire are what'll get him there and make him successful. Great stuff, thanks again

  24. Have to give Benning credit. Nice signing -- good prospect and a local kid. A bit small for the NHL but high skill and is a solid prospect, especially as he is a right shot. Should definitely help Utica next year. Very pleased to see this signing. And I listened to Boeser's interview on TSN 1040 yesterday. Not much doubt he will sign after next year. Wonder if the Canucks will also sign Caggiula.

  35. I have a great rule of thumb for anyone wanting a good first tattoo. Get an idea first, pick and artist, have a consultation. I'm not saying you can't a good tattoo with same day service, but my worst tattoos have come from that scenario. Gastown Tattoo has some awesome new artists, Mitch was my neighbour until last year, and I would recommend him to anyone. I have been going to Steve at Ashlar tattoo in Squamish for many years, formerly of Sacred Heart. It's really important to find a person who specializes in the style you want. Don't go to a person who specializes in Traditio

  37. 202 would be great, much better than 200. I remember Burke used to use 208 pounds all the time to describe players. He said this I believe to use a specific weight, making us think he was right on the situation. Some of the players he said were 208 included Craig Coxe, Zarley Zalapski,Greg Adams,Doug Lidster, and Dave Saunders.

  40. So true. If you grew up on hockey in the late 90s you were probably either a red wings or Avs fan. and if not a fan of one, you definitely picked sides in that battle.

  41. In case my sig didn't give it away.... I used to be a pretty big Avs fan too. Forsberg, Sakic, Roy etc...they were a damn good and entertaining team. I was always a Canucks fan first though. If we re-sign Hamhuis, IMO we need to move one of Edler or Sbisa.

  42. brenton demo follows pretty much all the canucks reporters on twitter and all the canucks news twitter accounts, I don't see much anaheim ducks stuff on there, so not sure what you guys are talking about "his family" being big into the ducks. Looks like he is just big into his kid and his kids friends who play hockey - which is pretty freakin normal/awesome to have a dad like that - here is an idea lets shut this stupid thread down and just leave the dad and thatcher alone until he makes his decision for himself.

  43. Thanks to Benning and the whole coaching staff selling him on the team as well as Boeser. Just cause he's a fan doesn't mean he was always going to sign here. Lots of good offers were made to him. He could have easily pulled a Schultz and gone to Edmonton. Give credit where credit is due.
