  8. I have to say that I agree with this. Again this morning, I see a "headline" about Melania "refusing to hold Donald's hand again". Who cares? And as you say, who cares if he gets more ice cream than everyone else? I think it's fair to say that a man in his position (both before and after becoming POTUS) gets more of everything than the rest of us. What we should be talking about is the new budget that although it probably stands little (if any) chance at becoming law, gives us an insight into what Trump's true fiscal priorities are. It should come as a surprise to no-one that the poor don't rank highly on that priority list and this includes a large chunk of Trump's support base. We could also be talking about foreign policy, including an upcoming meeting on NATO. (an organization Trump has called "obsolete") Instead we're talking about hand slapping....

  9. We were really hoping to get a good look at Korpisalo as the backup next season, but the expansion draft made that pretty unlikely. This move helps to quell any worries we had going into the expansion draft, and snagging another fairly high pick should help bolster our prospect pool. Best of luck to Korpisalo in Tampa. This was a tough one to stomach even though we were openly shopping Giroux around. We just felt it was best to part ways with him given the direction the franchise is heading and how our cap situation looked over the next couple of seasons. I have huge hopes for Reinhart and truly believe he can be a top-line center one day, and I think Duclair is a much better player than he showed last season. Hopefully both players can play important roles in our top-6 next season and for years to come. We'll miss Giroux over here in Ottawa but I'm sure he'll be better off playing for a team that won't be stuck in the gutter for the foreseeable future. Kudos to both Tylez and Squeak for the smooth negotiations. It's always nice when you can hammer out fairly significant trades without having to bicker away at each other for days on end.

  10. People forget Quads just turned 25yo in January of this year. Mitchell didn't even have his first full season in the NHL until he was 24 - Quads already has 340gms under his belt and will get better with quality coaching and competition. Not saying Quads is going to attain any particular level of proficiency but anyone thinking this kid is done developing isn't seeing the big picture. NHL defencemen take longer to fully mature/develop - this is a commonly known fact. If Quads was drafted into a system with depth at the defensive position, it's not unrealistic to think that he'd only have entered the league on a regular basis a year or two ago and then started developing at the NHL level then - that puts his development into some perspective in my view.

  13. ? he's a very good skater, particularly for a guy 6'5...not sure why you don't think he's a mobile D man. Lets see where he's at when healthy. He was great with FLA in the playoffs, if we get that guy we should be happy. we should continue this over in the Guddy thread tho... we're going to get yelled at....

  14. Gotta give props to Chelsea for cancelling the victory parade for winning the league title. They say it would be "inappropriate" to hold a parade in London, given what happened in Manchester on Monday.

  15. Hardworking players with the frame as unique as Vilardi's aren't a dime a dozen either. I just don't know if the Canucks need another player whose best asset is being a hardworker. I'd rather a player be a little more rough around the edges but show more vital signs in the offensive prowness department. A CM or MN.

  20. I know you're undefeated and all, but I have to disagree. I thought the read on JJ (by J23) was good, and don't mind BW switching tracks. It's early game - nothing wrong with fishing around a bit.

  21. I can't agree with the comparison. Gud can clear the net and is tougher, sure, but he does not have near the defensive zone awareness of Willie. (not an insult, most Dmen don't) Lack of offense doesn't make you a stay at home specialist. Gud is not that either. Gud is a much much better version of Rome or is whatever AV thought Rome was when he kept deploying him. Gud can be great 4/5 or decent 3/4. Should never be put near a powerplay or offensive zone faceoff. I am sure some posters will find my comparison insulting but I'm just talking style and not ability and it's at least closer to Rome than it is Mitchell from a true stay at home standpoint.

  22. The KHL dropped a team just today because the league is struggling...another team left for the Austrian league and the KHL says they will drop 3 more teams after next season!! That's 5 teams gone out of 27.... I can see Tryamkin having his baby in Russia, playing one season there and then scouring back over here for 2018-19....that's if Willie didn't piss him off to bad by trying to get him to beat down Marchand, etc.,.....real good Willie.... Tryamkin doesn't have to be a fighter to be effective, he has plenty of other talents that are just starting to show...skating,shot, hitting and some passing skills as well.

  25. I see Guds as a similar player to Willie Mitchell (who mentored him), but with +++ more toughness. Goalies love how he clears the net and the other players appreciate his toughness. He is the kind of player that has another gear when the games are important (he was incredible during Fla's playoff run). He's not flashy and will not create much offense, but he has a knack for keeping high quality shots at a minimum. With all the undersized, young players joining the team in the upcoming years, Guds will be an important player on the team. He is a dman's dman. Guds fills a role that the Canucks have been lacking for some time. People shouldn't judge him on last season's 30 games. It always takes dmen time to settle in to a new team and now we are finding out that he had the wrist injury at the beginning of the season. 2017-2018 will be a very important year for Guds and I think he will prove that he is a huge asset to the team.

  27. McCann was put in the line-up as an 18 year old...Boeser has had 2 years of college hockey after his 18th birthday and is now 20. There is no doubt in my mind that he is ready and in fact will be a big part of this team ....this year. Comparing him to Jake and Jared is not just wrong... it's not even possible...they don't compare in any way.

  28. Ivanka - Looks like shes just been crying over her husband being under criminal investigation by the FBI and special prosecutor. Melania's - Looks like she's dying or watching something or someone being killed off camera. Trump - Looks happily oblivious to his surroundings. Pope - Obviously not a fan of the Trump family. What's with the ladies' funeral attire?

  29. I would like to thank everyone in this recent exchange for making me feel WAY better about my Fantrax skills. I have been worried as a new GM about being crippled by my relative difficulties navigating the system and finding players. Turns out Fantrax search is just a sad pile of soggy walnuts. All is well in the world.

  32. Let's see how Boeser does next year. Not that I think he'll end up in the AHL, but even Jensen won our hearts in the few games he debuted for us. EDIT: Just trying to make sure I don't expect the world from Boeser and be disappointed if he doesn't deliver.

  37. And what would happen if the numerous civilians that are killed by American drone strikes then began to sue the country? Consider the number of civilians that died in the Iraq war. What will stop their family members from filing lawsuits in America? Suing the KSA for 9/11 is a monumentally stupid idea one that would bite America in the posterior far worse than it would hit the Saudis.

  44. really? he injured his wrist in the pre-season and it just got worse from there, so we can't really look at last season for much. Although for him to still step up and fight Martin with a hurt wrist should tell you something about his character. Seems like a good guy to me and Willie Mitchell loves him so i'm gonna go with that.
