  1. I somehow don't think the canucks will be adjusting their top 10 draft rankings based on the fact that they own the rights to a longshot 4th rounder playing US high school hockey.

  2. So he leaves for less money. Highly doubtful money had anything to do with his decision. There is absolutely zero evidence it did.

  3. There is recent interview with Tryamkin about his return to the NHL dated April 19: https://www.sports.ru/hockey/1062396799.html . Here is translation: I will think about returning to the NHL when my contract with Avtomobilist would be over. If they will need me, if I play good enough that they would want to sign me. I have not turned over the page with the NHL for myself but this is not 100% guarantee that I will go there. I watch the NHL games, mostly with Vancouver - there is 12-hour time difference so I wake up, watch the games before my practice, this is interesting

  4. Congratulations to former Canuck Alexander Burmistrov on winning the Gagarin Cup with Ak Bars Kazan of the KHL today!

  5. I get a sense that he is actually quite loyal to the team that drafted him. My bet is that he will return after his Russian contract expires if not sooner.

  7. I get a sense of Nik realizing he would re-gret NOT returning to prove he can play in the NHL... I genuinely think Nik was hurt by the way Desjardins handled him.. in the end we DID want him and offered a 2x2m, but im not sure if that was 2 way or 1 way? The Russian factor comment is interesting,. From a Russian stand point as a player, i wonder if there Is pressure on them to stay in Russia? The strength in this interveiw is the fact that he follows the team, and is up to date on its progression... you have to admire his respect for other good players, perhaps picking up Svechn

  8. I could clarify that Tryamkin closed the season playing 2nd paring TOI but played most of the season at 16 - 18 TOI. A lot of this was injury related. If Try going back to Russia was about money then I still cannot see what $2 mil in Canada doesn't keep him here when he plays for $1M in the KHL. As fans we do not know what was happening behind the curtains. Maybe Benning blew it, maybe Willie did, maybe Nikita blew it, or maybe it was a combo of things. All I know is that I want him back if he wants to be here for hockey reasons.

  9. Thanks for posting that recent interview Stierlitz. It gives a lot of hope that Tryamkin will return to the Canucks and goes a long way towards mending our broken hearts. (Jilted lover complex, "what did we do wrong", "what could we have done so he did not leave", etc.) Someone, somehow, has to show Nikita how much he was loved and respected here, how much he was missed, and how much we want him back. Apparently, he is keeping up with the Canucks; maybe some of our more savvy social media types could get something going. While I respect his character for

  10. Rathbone also had an assist today, per official scoresheet. Finished the tournament with 6G 3A in 6 GP, good to tie for first in goals and third in points. And the highest scoring Dman in the tourney.

  11. Chara has had more All Star appearances but has one Cup while Rafalski has had 3 and has made the playoffs in every year of his 11 year NHL career. Rafalski also played overseas a few years before finding his game in the NHL, perhaps the same can happen with Tryamkin.

  12. not every player with the talent to play at the highest level has the drive to match when they see how much work it takes. tryamkin has a history of fitness issues, which likely means he has a history of work ethic issues. when presented with the option to live at home, speak his native tongue, be close to his family, keep his wife happy and earn similar or even better money all while being a bigger fish in a smaller pond without having to work as hard, the decision was probably a fairly easy one to make.

  13. With Rathbone in the Canucks prospects pool already (and Stetcher, Beiga, etc), and if they don't end up with a top 4 pick after the lotto draw, I hope Benning chooses one of the bigger Cdn D-men (Bouchard, Dobson), not another sub-6 ft D-man in the 1st round. There will be a chance at another decent D prospect with the 2nd round pick.... maybe someone that slips down in the draft (like Lind did last year). Ginning, Miller, maybe Samuelsson ??? Somebody that plays very solid D 1st & offence 2nd. I hoping / wishing / praying that Rathbone develops a la Gaudette and is NHL rea

  17. I think he liked the nickname 'Train' from a interview...about the fans. "I loved that in Vancouver. After a hit, or a shoot, the whole crowd goes “wow”. And many other sounds. When I had a big hit and listened to the crowd, I could hear the adrenaline in my blood. There was a game where I had five or six hits, and after that fans started calling me “train” or “crusher”." This is where he's learning the after the whistle stuff from BJ

  18. I dream about Dahlin-Tryamkin pairing. One guy goes in and destroys the opponents in the offensive zone with his puck skills. Other guy just destroys opponents. That's cup winning first pairing.

  19. Harvard will be fun to watch. They’ll likely have Oliver Wahlstrom, Jack Drury, and Rathbone in their freshman class. EDIT: Pretty nice group for Rathbone to develop and grow with.

  21. Tryamkin has reacted to the news about the Sedins' retirement https://www.championat.com/hockey/news-3394267-trjamkin---ob-okonchanii-karery-bratev-sedin-oni-ko-mne-horosho-otnosilis.html "Just learn that the Sedins are going to finish their career. I am very glad that I have had a chance to play with such players. They are very professional, wonderful people. Too bad that they are finishing. They helped me all the time, from my very first day in Vancouver. I have very good relationship with both. I was not confused with them, they are different."

  22. I don't hate him at all, I see a young guy who was a bit over his head and who had a very sad new bride at home. He seems very likable and he has a ton of raw talent. I am pulling for him big time and would love to see him succeed. IMHO, he needs to work on his mental approach to his career and if he comes to the right conclusion - he can have a very serviceable NHL career.
