  1. EP40 is getting better EVERY GAME. That's all I need to say.
    11 points
  2. He has been getting better and more comfortable with every game this preseason. He started off as looking immediately comfortable and by far our most dangerous player on the pp (he stepped in and is running it already) but looked to struggle to find time and space 5v5. The last couple games, he has continued to look dangerous on the pp, but has translated that into 5v5 play as well. He looks like he is thinking the game a couple steps ahead of everyone else on the ice. His passes are by far the most crisp and accurate on the team. He is NHL ready and expect him to start racking up more points once his teammates start burying some of the chances he's setting them up with and once he starts letting his shot off more. It's only preseason, but he's looked a lot better and has adapted a lot faster than I expected. Him and Horvat have been our two best players. If you havent seen it yet, he made a pass to himself by the boards centre ice, proceeded to deke the jockstrap off the guy trying to steal it from him, and then set up boeser with a perfect opportunity for a boeser wrister that was stopped. Incredible skill and creativity. The hype is real . He has also been very responsible in the defensive zone, despite his lack of size. He positions himself very well, gets interceptions and uses his stick to effectively defend. He looks like datsyuk out there.

  6. ANNOUNCEMENT: We are now 1 week away from the start of the season and teams may now begin to post their opening night lineups which shall be inputted into Pickup. Failure to post your lineup will mean your team will not collect points on Pickup until a post has been made. A reminder that lineups must consist of no less than 12 forwards, 6 defenceman and 2 goalies, and no more than 13/14 forwards, 7/8 defenceman and 2 goalies. Teams must also be cap compliant. Reminder, ELC slides must be completed before October 1st 11:59 PM PST. Also, all players who are in the minors that are eligible to waivers will automatically be placed on waivers on October 1st in the morning. If teams would like to wait until after the waiver wire is complete to finalize their opening night roster that is perfectly fine, just make sure your roster is posted before October 3rd, 4:00 PM PST when the first games start! 12. Announcement: Hello all, First, I just wanted to say that I am excited for the upcoming season, and for EKL's 1st season on CDC. I was browsing various teams the other day and I was impressed with many of the rosters constructed by various GMs. I can see 7-10 different teams having the most points when it is all said and done by the end of the year. Big shout out to @Tigs, @Patrick Kane, @Tylez, @canucklax, and @BM24 for doing most of the heavy lifting so far in setting up and organizing this entire league. As someone who has worked with and competed with these past 2 and a half years, there is no better team, in my opinion, when it comes to running a competitive and competent fantasy hockey league. This announcement was not made just to praise them, however. I have already told management, but I wanted to let the thread know that I will be having surgery on my shoulder on Friday, and that after that date, I will be taking a step back in terms of general activity on CDC temporary while I recover. While I am not looking forward to the procedure and long road of rehab, I've already torn both of my ACLs and have come back from those, so its hard to imagine this entire process being worse. I'm optimistic that the procedure will go well, and that I will be back here sooner rather than later. Until then, please direct all questions and PMs to the above management team, as odds are I won't view your message for awhile if you send it to me. If you see something on my team that you like and would like to discuss a potential trade, I recommend you do it before Friday, lol. Good luck to everyone in this upcoming season. I hope your teams fare better than the Canucks have in the preseason. Until then, Arrivederci, Blue Jay

  14. Senate probing new allegation of misconduct against Kavanaugh Supreme Court Nominee has been asked privately about an accusation of physical assault, sources tell NBC News. WASHINGTON — The Senate Judiciary Committee is inquiring about at least one additional allegation of misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, according to a letter obtained by NBC News and multiple people familiar with the process. Republican Senate investigators asked Kavanaugh about the new complaint, NBC News has learned, during a phone call on Tuesday between Kavanaugh and committee staff. Sources told NBC News that Kavanaugh denied the allegation in the letter during the call and a spokesman for the committee declined to comment. A Republican aide on the committee said the conversation took place shortly after noon. While Republican staff posed questions to Kavanaugh, their Democratic counterparts were also on the call but did not ask any questions. According to an anonymous complaint sent to Republican Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado, Kavanaugh physically assaulted a woman he socialized with in the Washington, D.C., area in 1998 while he was inebriated. The sender of the complaint described an evening involving her own daughter, Kavanaugh and several friends in 1998. “When they left the bar (under the influence of alcohol) they were all shocked when Brett Kavanaugh, shoved her friend up against the wall very aggressively and sexually.” “There were at least four witnesses including my daughter.” The writer of the letter provided no names but said the alleged victim was still traumatized and had decided to remain anonymous herself. A Democratic source said the minority wasn’t satisfied by the Republicans’ questions about the incident during the call, calling them cursory, and believed it should be investigated more deeply. NBC News reached out to the White House for comment. (more in the link) https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/senate-probing-new-allegation-misconduct-against-kavanaugh-n913581 ******************************** That's 4 accusers now and some very serious allegations. In this alleged incident Kavanaugh would have been a 31 year old man not a drunken frat boy. The Senate hearing is tomorrow. The first accuser Dr. Blasey-Ford will testify. In the most brazen act of cowardice you're going to see. Republican Senators have hired a female prosecutor to question/interrogate Blasey-Ford on their behalf. As they are too afraid to be seen on camera questioning an alleged sexual assault victim. The video of them attacking Anita Hill from 1991 apparently hasn't aged well. I can only imagine if the hearing goes forward former prosecutor Kamala Harris will rip Kavanaugh a new bumhole. Senator Grassley and Cocaine Mitch insist the vote to confirm Kavanaugh will go forward on Friday. Kavanaugh should do the right thing and spare his wife and daughters further shame and withdraw his nomination. I would not be surprised if that happens tonight or tomorrow morning.

  19. Hughes will be here by seasons end. First game goes end to end with a goal. Never looks back. Other potential positives, plausible to just plain fun. OJ gets Cull’d in Utica and comes back in two months ready to go. Trymakin realizes that the time is now and buys himself out of Russia, signs a good deal for all parties here. No one skates in on his side for the rest of the contract. JV takes a roll on Pettersson’s wing and Pettersson thinks for both of them. Dido for Goldy. EP40 gets his faceoff mojo flowing and finishes 50% on the season. Demko comes in, Markstrom and Nielsen are traded. Loungo comes back to mentor him. Eriksson pulls a bad back bending over to pick up some of the millions he has lying around and is out for 4 years. We have the best 4 line in Hockey... not sure about the other 3... Horvat becomes captain, goes on to have a 30/30 season. Boeser shakes off the rust and continues to find the mark. Baer makes it a whole season without an injury. Our defence remains a dumpster fire, but teams come calling for Elder, Tanev and MDZ.

  20. EP has been trying to set people up too much...he should be roofing some of those instead of passing off... Still he could have easily had another 2 assist night with Bo just tipping a brilliant pass inches wide of the open net and several other quality chances off of EP passses There is no way our luck can continue to be so bad come the regular season. Once things start to go in instead of off the post or just barely missing....watch out...!

  23. Management/Green will ice a team of players that have (a) big contracts, and (b) are waiver eligible. Pettersson is the exception. This means Gaudette, Motte, etc. will play in Utica. Baertschi - Horvat - Boeser Goldobin - Pettersson - Gagner Roussel/Leipsic - Beagle - Eriksson Granlund - Sutter - Virtanen Really hoping Benning can trade some of the vets at the TDL, for 2019 picks. We need to hit that podium a lot seeing as it's in Vancouver!

In other words they support a man who doesn't give a $&!# about them. Funnily enough these are the same crowd who have the word cuck in their vocabulary. 31. You don't understand. Other teams don't want to claim random AHL depth players off waivers unless those random AHL depth players come from the mighty powerhouse that is the Vancouver Canucks. Every player we waive is at high risk because the league knows we are a beastly team and even our AHL depth pieces are potential top 6 forwards or top 4 defensemen. Every. Player. Is. A. Target.

  32. Haha. Just heard it on NHL Network and new it was coming. "This kid, EP, has come out of nowhere". Ummm, if the Eastern media knobs didn't spend so much time with knee pads on talking about the Leafs they may have noticed what EP accomplished in Sweden last year. Frik.

  41. Defensively think Pavel Daytsuk. Offensively combine Daniel and Henrick into one player. Last night the oilers had the Canucks hemmed in and the right side defenseman through a pass across the blueline and EP went for the interception and just missed it. (would have been a clear cut breakaway) He is gaining confidence more and more each game. he is learning when to and not to pass to his team mates. he could have 5 or 6 more points easily. Goldobin and Horvat have both missed empty net tap ins. Other players have been set up with wide open shot attempts only to miss. Gagne made a beautiful save on his wrist shot. Every time he is on the ice something electric happens either offensively or defensively. Plays happen out of nothing continually. He strips pucks from players in both ends, Hard to think Bo has out performed EP. Elias has been the Canucks best player so far. And Bo has a couple points that simply don't happen if Elias is not on the ice.
    2 points
  42. A little of both. Horvat's probably been our best player overall but considering EP40 is a kid and has played all but a handful of preseason games... He's not far off. He looks like he needs to adjust but he also looks like he's doing so VERY quickly, including very solid defensive positioning/plays. If not our best all-out player, certainly the most creative with the puck and is consistently creating something, breaking up plays defensively etc. He'll need to get stronger and keep adapting to the pace/space before he's truly dominant but it's VERY encouraging.

  44. Totally. Edler was free to be as physical as he could be without fear because Guddy kept the opposition's head on a swivel. Chiasson, Lucic, and Kassian all were reacquainted with Guddy yesterday.
    2 points
  45. Guddy is proving to be the most consistent defenseman so far. He's brought a steady, physical presence and has even jumped up in the play and tried his best to generate offence. I hope Green tries to use him more in the role, as Gudbranson's speed has increased and when he jumped up in the play, he didn't look easy to stop or slow down. Hoping to see him paired with Edler again, as those two work really well together.

  46. Avto won again, this time vs Lokomotiv (Loko) in overtime 5-4. Now this is 10 wins in 10 games. Tryamkin with 20:03 of the ice time, 4 hits (maximum for both teams), one penalty for boarding.

  47. It really irks me that Trump and his cronies go on and on about his "accomplishments". Undoing something is not an accomplishment. Doing something is and so far, he's managed to get a major tax cut through and he's managed to put a Conservative judge on the Supreme court. Both of those "accomplished" with a majority in the House and the Senate....the proverbial empty net goal. Basically, in two years, he's accomplished next to nothing. All he's done is scrap Obama initiatives, although he failed in scrapping the ACA, (despite have the House, Senate and WH) the one thing he campaigned "Bigly" on....

  48. His defensive game is really surprising. I had no idea he was this capable as a positional centre ice defender. I have to mention the butterfly style pass blocks, Ive never seen anybody do this before and he is very effective with it.
    2 points
  49. Hi IQ is off the charts, exemplified by his defensive play. I shouldn't say that I'm surprised, but I kind of am with how quickly he has adjusted to NA ice. He's already our best player. In addition to being a contender one day (who knows, maybe this year) for the Hart and others, I really think he can be a contender for the Selke - he's just so aware of everything on the ice defensively, and he's only played a few games. Unreal.
