  1. Haha always a good read. It sounds like if we give him the money and slot him into a 2nd pairing spot he would consider coming back: https://thehockeywriters.com/nikita-tryamkin-comfortable-home-khl/ My favourite part of the interview: IE: The Canucks got better this summer. NT: They did a great job. The coaching staff changed almost entirely. I hope that Travis Green will make a good job there. IE: He worked in Utica. And you didn’t join him there. NT: I get to know him during the training camp. We even exchanged a few words. A good person. IE: Will

  2. I made a Russian omelette for breakfast this morning. It has as much chance of playing for the Canucks as Tryamkin does.

  3. Guys, we all get impatient. Tryamkin decided to sign a three year deal in the KHL. The fact that we may have one or (I hope) two good rookie defensemen coming on the team next year is great news. I don't see Nik breaking a contract that he signed, so we'll see what the situation is for 2020-21. I hope that we keep both Tanev (contract expires in '20) and Edler (contract expires in '19) but with both of their contracts expiring I don't think we can take both of them as granted for '20-'21. Then we have Hutton and Stecher who are both trending well after a down year last se

  4. Who gives a f---k! We are on our way, Goldy is rebuilding his game as he needs to do and doing well and Tryamkin is a distant memory of someone who is on the verge of being forgotten. He will be telling his kids he played for the mighty Canucks for a couple of seasons and they will ask "Was that when they won the cups?" And he will say, "get to bed, I don't want to talk about it"

  5. Maybe it's just me, but I'm super excited to see Crosby on fire right now. With all the talk of Ovechkin setting amazing records, I feel that Crosby's been a bit left behind.

  7. Jack doesn't give a f---k because he was more interested in helping his family and in particular his younger brother. That is why he will drive himself on to be one of the best Canuck D's ever IMO no mater what schedule he follows.

  11. Get dazn dixon. They run khl games on their app and automobilist is one of the feature teams. It is a different league over there because size doen't matter as much on their ice as it does here. It is a very good league though and the quality of talent isn't two or three giant leaps below.

  12. Some of you guys trashing Tryamkin didn't even watch the entire Canucks season two years ago, did you? It was a terrible season to watch, I'll give you that, but don't go around making some arguments when Nik has a full season of NHL credentials to prove you wrong.

  13. I'm not sure if peoples memories are just really short or if reality is just blurry. My take on the Tram situation is: He came into camp out of shape. He fully admitted that. The KHL pre-season is about a month long and players play their way into shape. In the NHL they get less than 2 weeks to work their way into the season. He lost a significant amount of weight during the early portion of the season (reported 8% body fat give or take) and worked his into the lineup. He gets a ton of flak for not taking a conditioning stint in Utica, when it can be argued, that sending him across

  14. I was just organizing a few things in my office, and I came across something that I would consider one of my greatest organizational accomplishments. 9 consecutive years of complete income tax return documents, complete with several successful contentions to the CRA "Re-assessing" previous years returns and demanding more money out of me, all neatly 3 hole punched and organized in a binder. I guess I learned something from High School after all.

  15. He got 'benched' because it was late in the game and he was trying to win. Pretty much any coach in the league is going to play his better defensive/2 way players in that situation. That's not Goldy. How this is even still a critique is beyond me.

  16. yeah thats a lame copout I was hoping not to hear from him. He's the one that needs to adapt to the NHL not the other way around. Usually its guys that score a lot and not want to get too physical that say that line, not a defenceman who needs to play hard minutes. Is he even improving? he's not exactly blowing the doors off the KHL this year, statistically at least he's taken a step back from last year.

  17. I want to think differently, but his comments on teams being prejudiced against Russians don't leavee with a warm, fuzzy feeling. I don't think we'll ever see him in can again, and possibly not the NHL.

  18. Gudbranson's got two more years after this one. He's here for at least for the year in question of Tryamkin's potential return. And yes, I certainly see Edler's TOI reducing as Hughes, Juolevi etc acclimate. Still leaves NT likely in a 3rd pairing role as we've both noted and even with more spread out minutes, that's still likely only in the 17-18 minute range until injuries hit. Not sure that flies with the big guy.

  19. I think you're right. However it is hard to turn a player against the wishes of his wife and that seems to be the end of the Tryamkin "fairy tale"

  20. Haha, fair point. It occurs to me that some of the metamorphosis of Goldy’s game can be attributed to correct thinking from Larionov. Of course that’s just a personal assumption, but if he could do the same for Tryamkin I’d happily have him on our cup teams.

  22. Tryamkin is probably making under 1 million per year there There's a lot of reasons for him to come back.

  24. Hutton and Stecher will be taking a back seat to Tryamkin if he returns. Those two are admirable defenders, but not on the same level.

  25. Jack didn't do himself any favors by staying in highschool for an extra year. It cost him a couple rounds in the draft an opportunities to play for the USDP, but that's just the way it works. I agree he would look great on that team, but he didn't earn it the way the other players did. Their loss is the Canucks gain.

  26. He should be on this current team. Hewoukd be their second best D man to Hughes.

  27. Tryamkin would easily slide in as our #3 defenseman right now. Plus he would be either the first or second most feared player on the team. No excuses - he is already better than the majority of our defense and he has played one NHL season. I wonder if you'll be able to get a new coastal.view of Tryamkin when he's on our top defensive pairing in 2021?

  28. When he 'rushed' the puck it was not poetry in motion, but was a lot of fun to watch. When he cleared the front of the net it was sublime. When ( not often ) he got mad, anything could happen. His size exaggerated everything, especially with that under sized helmet perched on the top of his very big head ! Loved him on the ice !

  29. He was easily the most entertaining player to watch the one season he was here.

  30. After EP40, the one single player who would put my ample bum in a Rogers Arena seat, is Tryamkin ! All the other 'noise' about why he is not here is unproven pulp. Who cares !

  31. Not sure why there is this obsession on hoping that Tryamkin comes back. Don't get me wrong, he showed fairly well during his time here, but based on his comments after bolting for the KHL he clearly didn't want to be here nor the NHL. Why would you want someone who doesn't want to put in the work to be an everyday NHLer nor is a team player? If his attitude hasn't changed, I say good riddance. There are plenty of other guys who would fight tooth and nail to wear the blue and green and would be happy to do so.

  32. I believe the KHL still plays a 60 game sched. If they rotate their 8 d-men equally then Tryamkin gets 45 games in the year as long as he has no injuries. Quite frankly this is a joke compared to the NHL. Career wise going back to Russia was a huge mistake. If he sticks to his promise and plays out his contract it will be another year gone. Many fans are projecting him into a top 4 d-man spot. He might be capable of that but is Vancouver willing to wait? It is just not the issue of getting him up to NHL speed but it is about integrating him into a Canuck style of fast skating and puck movement

  33. He always said he would play out his contract so that is another year away. The question might become whether he sees more value coming back to NA as a UFA than as a Vancouver property. The other aspect is that people build lives and he might simply re-up with his KHL team. I had read that there was a real possibility that 4 or 5 KHL teams might fold. Payrolls were late for many last year. I believe contracts in US$'s were ignored as players received rubles. We are all aware of the goat sacrifice at center ice last year.
