  1. Glad they are not panic signing him to whatever he he asking 4. If he needs to be protected in the expansion draft id rather say goodbye.

  2. Hope this means WPG keeps Myers and overpays him so we don't.

  3. Great, one more put to bed, and one big potential long-term bullet dodged.

  4. The gods are real. Many will disagree, but GREAT move by Benning.

  5. At least Boeser will finally get passes on the powerplay now...

  6. Or we could just keep Bo, draft at number 10, and get one of the guys ranked 4th to 16th.

  7. If Edler doesn't re-sign, but also refused to waive because "he only wanted to play here" it will tarnish his entire tenure as a Canuck. Kinda put him in the same perspective as Ehrhoff who wanted to be here, but instead chose to go to the "best chance to win a cup" Don't get me wrong. I love the guy. But if he cared about the team and "only wanted to play here" but is refusing to sign unless a lot of term is added, or a big fat trade killing NTC/NMC is included and is willing to go elsewhere because of it then...it kind of proves he's not exactly being honest about things

  8. You are just making garbage up to support your brain dead hatred of Benning. Beagle never got an NMC, and Eriksson only had one for the first two years of his contract. Good job confirming what an irrational Benning hater you are.

  9. I'm not sure I consider Dhaliwal as reliable as he seemed when he was first making a name for himself. It's June 17th - if it's the end of the Edler talks, so be it - if that were the case, clearly he's firm on term and a limiting clause. For me the Canucks have only two options where Edler is concerned: 1) 1 or 2 year deal expiring before the expansion draft - perhaps with some extra cap as incentive 2) a longer term deal with no limiting clause / exposure in expansion. Since Edler probably isn't interested in the possibility of being claimed, 1) seems like the only real option. If Edler isn't willing to sign a series of shorter deals - let him walk. Alternative placeholder: Hainsey, Coburn, Gunnarsson, perhaps even Kronwall. The thing about Edler's role - it isn't as necessary to find a 'two-way' replacement for Edler - what is necessary is to replace his harder minutes - the powerplay and production side of things changes with Hughes here in any event. Also, with the potential of Tryamkin returning, an alternative short term veteran placeholder is as good an option - expiring in a year or two - keep the options open of a Hughes, Juolevi, Tryamkin left side - with a number of other depth options in the system. The Canucks can sign an alternative hard minutes veteran placeholder - probably not have to spend as much term or cap on them, and move on from Edler if necessary - while some of his offensive side minutes will go to Hughes regardless. Sign one of the above, and look to add another comparable to the right side - Stralman - Engelland could also be a good 3RD option....

  10. Very interesting that Edler may end up leaving Vancouver because he wants to stay in Vancouver.
    10 points
  11. Yes we do. Juolevi is a highly intelligent, puck moving defenseman that has been relied upon by his previous teams to win. He has won at every previous level, including winning Gold for Finland. This guy is a winner. We DO NOT have anyone like Juolevi in the system. Sorry, Stecher and Hutton don't hold a candle to this guy's potential.

  12. You're not getting a 1st pair D for Juolevi or Virtanen. They frankly have more value to us to continue to develop than they do in trade.

  13. so much saltiness towards edler on these boards he was our best dman last season and the season before is among the best dmen in team history if he is not re-signed he will walk for nothing the nucks lose their best dman and there is no dman left in ufa who is as good as him but that is all ok to those on here i think, if that is the case, i'd be most happy if he signed with the new york rangers that'd totally solidify their d corp and they'll go deep into the playoff next season and then all on here can whine about the nucks poor d depth and how nyr rebuild has sped by us and how lousy this organization is but that is what you all seem to be hoping for

  14. They will blow by us in the rebuild. So many picks this year and last. Before JB gets toasted for the picks comment though the Rangers had a lot of currency to trade picks for. JB had too many NTC's to work with and then the players with no clauses were plugs. Rags also won a draft lottery rather than lose three straight. Going to be tough listening to the pundits praise the Rangers for their rebuld.

  15. Imagine playing in Manhattan. NYC. And then you get traded to Winnipeg. I would be on suicide watch.

  16. Correction: For a 50 pt d-man that doesn't want to be there and is a UFA at the end of next season.

  18. Draft him! Our pregame warmup soccer has been pretty weak since the Sedins left.

  19. Good. Theyll be paying all Karlsson Couture Burns and Vlasic 8-11m per season until they are almost 40.

  20. Just wanted to update everyone: I am out of hospital and all of my tests came back Aladeen. So I should be good? For reals though, they have no solid idea why my blood pressure plummeted but my doc thinks it was a foodborne toxin that poisoned me (blood test and fluid tests all clear). All of my other numbers are aces and my ekg was clean. Should be good, thanks for everyone’s concern.

  21. Brock Boeser was taken 23rd overall. Gaudette, a Hobey Baker winner at age 21, was taken in the 5th round in the same draft. Tyler Madden was a 3rd round pick. Jett Woo 2nd round. Thatcher Demko 2nd round. All of those players in a do over would go in the first round. Boeser would be a top 10 pick. And best of all Benning chose Elias Pettersson, the best player in his draft class, at 5th overall. That’s a pretty impressive drafting history considering we never won the lottery or finished higher than a 5th overall pick.

  22. -refuses to waive his NTC for last 2 seasons because "he loves the city/team and doesnt want to leave" -demands a NTC/NMC with this contract because he doesnt want to get traded/picked up by Seattle Nice try Alex. I'm real sure you're going to explore free agency. See you at training camp.

  23. I can ask the GF for a coke fueled threesome with Evan Rachel Wood. Does that mean it will happen?

  24. You're crazy. Horvat is more untouchable than Boeser imo. And I keep seeing and hearing Brocks name in proposals, I dont think we should move him either. Horvat Pettersson Boeser and Hughes are our top 4 untouchables in no order. I'd rather go bargain bin shopping and hope for a sleeper and continue to build through the draft than part with any of those players.

  25. I can appreciate what you’re saying, but Horvat is untouchable. He’s the heart of the team, signed to a great deal, and getting progressively better.

  26. I thought NYR were rebuilding, why are they trading picks? First rounders no less??!?

  27. I'm hardpressed to call those people "fans". Honestly....love Eddie and he has a family to think of. When you're nearing your final shot at securing the future, you go for it. Loyalties go both ways and it's a business at both ends. I will stand and cheer him for all the years he quietly went about his business here. My good God, boo him? Who comes up with this stuff?

  28. Especially ones that are about as far from 'relevant' as possible. If he's demanding the world, Benning is doing exactly the right thing letting him walk. Can't trade a guy who won't wave, but don't have to re-sign him if he's being unrealistic for a player his age and health.

  29. While $1.75M a year barely survives in Manhattan he is king of the world in Winnipeg.

  30. This is the EK the Sharks just signed based upon term and CAP hit: This is the EK they are actually getting:

  31. The Canucks answer to losing Edler is Brenden Dillon. Benning should be chasing hard here, because SAN Jose is in a whole lot of cap trouble now. Just like what we did with Erhoff. I’d offer a second.

  32. Would the Blackhawks have won 3 cups if they didn't have Jonathan Toews? Would the Bruins have made 3 trips to the finals if they didn't have Patrice Bergeron? Bo is on the verge of moving up into their tier. He's our future captain. He's a defensive beast. He's capable of centering the 2nd line and is effective on the PP. He's only 24 yet has nearly 400 games experience and weighs 215 lbs. We have some very nice pieces here EP, Brock, Hughes. But Bo is the straw that stirs the drink. You don't trade Bo Horvat. You try to get 2 more just like him. Too bad they are so rare.

  34. IF he does not ultimately sign here maybe the worst aspect will be morons going on and on about how they didn't get anything for him at the TDL ; totally oblivious to the dynamics of the situation.

  35. that would be utterly classless.

  36. ...And Puistola proceeds to freefall in McKenzie's final draft rankings, falling from 41 (mid-term ranking) to 71. #re-confirmedbust

  37. Yes Edler and Tanev are the leftovers from 2011. The fact they are our #1 pairing right now tells you a lot about why this team can't make the playoffs. Both can't even play a full season anymore. I say goodbye to Edler and hope Tanev follows him on the way out. We need a new #1 pairing, one that can play a full 82 game schedule and one that can take us to the promised land...

  38. If your first team is the Oilers, I feel like a do-over is fair. Should be lots of turnover coming to the Ducks soon; I have more confidence in a rebuild there than Edmonton of the last decade-plus.

  39. As I said before, I'd rather see him in the rearview mirror than get handcuffed by an old, increasingly injured defenceman who wants a protection spot. Edler Logic: I dont want to go to Seattle in the expansion, give me an NMC, I always want to be here. Also pay me lots, and a long deal. Benning: No NMC, Deal ends before the expansion draft, we'll probably re-sign you again then assuming you haven't stopped breathing. Edler: No. I leave forever. Goodbye.

  40. I think he will take meetings with other teams and see if anyone is willing to give him a full NMC with the expansion coming up. If no one will, he probably still signs here.

  41. Man, Rick might need to switch over to TMZ 1040 the way he's been pumping the panic around Edler....

  42. So fuc*ing glad we didn't sign that overpayment. Would have cap fuc*ed us so badly.

  43. Team report to follow but we have made our last pick in the draft pending any trades. We would be interested in adding another 3rd round pick or two if the deal is right. Additions to the Vegas Golden Knights: Pick 9 - Peyton Krebs Pick 22 - Thomas Harley Pick 25 - Nils Hoglander Pick 27 - Philip Tomasino Pick 34 - Tobias Bjornfot Pick 37 - Mikko Kokkonen Pick 53 - Vladislav Firstov Pick 56 - Karl Henriksson Pick 68 - Antti Sarrela We feel this is a great start to building the Vegas organization.
