  1. I am hearing a lot of panic buying going on in the United States so with the way things are going, this may reach you guys over there very soon. If there is a chance you may need to be quarantined or lock down, make sure you stock up on the essentials that you know you will need for a while since there maybe a chance you don't want to go out for a while. Freezer food and dry or canned food is best because you can store it for a long time. Don't go scarfing down all your food and essentials in the beginning. Make sure you ration as if you will be in it for the long haul. If you squander then y

  8. Here we are in Osaka, & it's time for the annual Sumo Basho. Toughest ticket you'll ever wish for in sporting history!! Indeed, only the invisible sumo ghosts & Gods in attendance today. Because no one's allowed to attend. Due to Covid19, they're playing out the matches on TV, with nary a soul in attendance. Missus & I at home watching on the tele. Man, this is a strange scenario. We're talking about a sport of religious & cultural significance, with roots like a first dated match of 640AD! It's such a wonderful live exp, that I've enjoyed twice in recen

  12. Don't look now, but this kid is establishing himself as a legit #3 centre. 23 years old and looks like he'll get over .5ppg in his second season. Got to love his hustle and enthusiasm. Winning teams have to have effective secondary players like this. Not too shabby for a 5th rounder.

  13. I see people buying it all at the store. It's extremely selfish, and we need to think about others. Where I am at, you cannot find hand sanitizer and other things at stores, and some stores have put a limit on it. It is a State of Emergency where I am at. And we are all in this together, so going out and buying everything, stocking and stocking, leaving nothing for everyone else, is not the thing to do. For anyone who wants to make their own sanitizer: 2/3 rubbing alcohol (71% or better) 1/3 aloe vera

  14. Rathbone has not passed Juolevi yet. Rathbone is an impressive prospect, but he hasn't even played a single game in the AHL. He's going to be great, but let's be real here. Let's see how he handles playing full time against much faster and stronger opponents.

  15. The Rathbone talk also gives me a lot of hope for our defense. I watched every NHL game with Tryamkin when he was with us but none of his KHL games. I do know a bit about his game and see how his size could be a factor. I do think some of his fans push things a bit far saying he will be our saviour. But he would make a great 3rd pairing guy at a minimum.

  21. I believe his partner is Reilly Walsh and he doesn't seem like he's a slouch. Not to take anything away from Rathbone who is indeed excellent himself. I think we have the luxury to let him develop a year in Utica to try and get the best out of him when he hopefully is a full time regular on the big club.

  27. NHL ready? No, likely not. But like you, I think he'd be better served playing in Utica next year, adjusting to pro and getting a few call ups to practice with and learn from the big boys.

  28. Not sure what some posters are expecting when they say he’s not lighting it up. Defensive defencemen don’t light it up. Is Tanev lighting it up? What Tryamkin will do which NONE of our defencemen currently do is he will cause extreme havoc on the ice. He will run players into the glass, he will clear the front of the net and he will intimidate the opposition. I know it’s been a long time since we had one of those players so maybe some people have forgotten how it feels to have an intimidator on the ice. Tryamkin is much bigger than every other NHL player. He’s probably go

  31. This will be what posts will look like all summer. Happens every summer. Where will everyone fit. And every year someone forces their way on to the team even if they goto Utica for a couple weeks at the start of the year. They come back and play because they deserve to be there. Sometimes there’s the technical things that happen like waivers but it literally figured out everytime. If Lind and Raff are NHL ready they’ll be on the team. Also expansion happens 2021 not this year

  32. I get Rafferty making the team if we lose a D in expansion or can’t sign Tanev or Fantenburg or Stetcher, move Benn - leaving us Edler (unless we don’t protect him and lose him to expansion) - there will likely be space on D for Tryamkin and Rafferty - maybe even Rathbone. But Lind has quite a lineup to crack if we re-sign Toffoli. Then we’d have Toffoli, Boeser, Virtanen, Leivo, and perhaps MacEwen for RW; Miller, Horvat, Gaudette, Sutter and Beagle for C; Pettersson, Pearson, Roussel, Motte, Eriksson, and Ferland for LW. If that is true we may lose an F to expansion, but not necessarily, The

  33. Tough call. Really depends how much Markstrom is asking for. I thought before the season started our goalies would be hand in hand where I’d be happy with either one going forward but Markstrom has been very impressive. If we could trade some bottom 6 guys out that are making too much that’d be ideal. However in the off-season nobody wants to trade for those guys when they can just sign comparable players in free agency. Benning has some work to do because you want to keep both Toffoli and Pearson. Those guys could command 5-5.5+ with term.

  40. So what have they been doing? Youtube What Edmonton doctors are saying about their own Alberta health. What the government is doing now is down playing the impact this virus has. They don’t want a huge panic, which is understandable but unfortunately not raising awareness and false information is the trade off. What is happening in Germany? They are declaring this a pandemic themselves and pouring all the resources they manage to gather into combating it. What makes you think our medical minds are somehow more superior than others? This is also unprecedented in recent histo

  41. Anyone who thinks the Canadian government or the BC provincial government is doing a good job must give their head a shake. Do you seriously believe the officials when they tell you it’s a flu, or it’s nothing concerning and that the risk is low etc etc.? Think first, don’t blindly buy what the government is selling. Wonder why people in China, Iran, japan, South Korea, Germany, Italy, Singapore and etc are all freaking out??? Guess, just take a breath and think. They are freaking out because what, they are stupid? or are we stupid for not panicking?its very easy to see where this is

  43. Reminds me of what a mother say to their kid who refuse to eat their dinner, "Eat your food, there are millions of kids starving in the world". The fact that kids are starving elsewhere in the world is irrelevant to the current virus outbreak. You are not going to die of starvation in Canada but you could die from COVID-19.
