  1. Disappointed in the Province's response. I think we've been very lucky thus far. As an example - I went to the mainland twice last month to assist family. BC Ferries - is dropping the ball. Half their staff don't wear masks. More than half the people in the common areas of the ship not wearing any - and hard to expect them to, in spite of the requirement to have a face cover to board - when their own staff don't wear them. This isn't a matter of 'freedoms' imo - no one is 'free' to work on a construction jobsite without helmets, steel-toed boots, etc.

  2. I went to the beach today to unwind after I got the news about my uncle. Carted a heavy lounger lawn chair all around to find adequate space for myself. A family comes along (as I was on the phone with Dad) and plunks down right beside me (with half a football field of empty beach just beyond me). I politely asked the lady to give me more space...husband walks up and says "yeah, you got two metres do you need the whole beach?". Attitude for miles. (My Dad heard him and was so pissed). I said, "I have a father with a very compromised immune system and I'm visiting him after I leave here..

  3. To be fair i've had more than I can handle and the next person I see taking a front line worker of any stripe in any industry to task for wearing a mask will be dealt with in the best way I know how. Absolutely and loud derision, degradation or outright violence. Suggesting that a campaign about protecting others might be beneficial will not work. Why? In Michigan one fo the hardest hit areas, they'd made that campaign and were essentially taken over by armed people demanding their right to get their mullets quaffed. Nobody cares about their fellow man. Like at all. Look at s

  4. In Penticton today and saw a group of women screaming at a Winners/Homesense sales associate at the door about masks. The associate was merely stating that it's a corporate mandate and that as a private business they have the right to refuse service based on dress code. The group of Karens, or "strata council" as a group of Karens is called; were livid, screaming and losing their minds. Imagine being so self entitled that discounted throw pillows caused you to scream profanities at a store sales associate who is; I forgot to add partially deaf and clearly disabled.

  5. A guy goes into this bar, sits down and orders a drink. While waiting, he sees a guy sitting at the bar who has a very big muscular body but a little tiny head. So, he asks the guy, "How is it that you have such a huge body and a small head?" The guy replied, "I was walking along the beach one day and I came across this bottle buried halfway in the sand. So I picked it up, brushed away the sand, and out popped this fine female genie. She said she would grant me three wishes for releasing her." "For my first wish, I asked for ten-million dollars, and POOF right there on the sand was $10,000,0

  8. I came back on this forum after a more than 1 year hiatus because as I was watching the recent Canucks games, I've *unintentionally* noticed how poorly Virtanen has been playing during this playoff series and so, it reminded me of this certain incidence that I had from this forum which basically scarred me from commenting. So for those who don't remember or know what happened... Last year, I had received SO MANY hateful comments going at me JUST BECAUSE I said that Virtanen reminds me of Mason Raymond a bit since I keep seeing times where they both would have a sudden b

  9. Exactly... people and government are so wrapped up in the almighty dollar that they are willing to sacrifice (reminds me of the Aztecs.) people’s lives To keep the almighty economy going. The thing is there is no shortage of resources and food if the rich weren’t taking way more than their share. Come on...get real...there are rich that will fly to ... oh let’s say Paris... for lunch. What a waste while others starve. It is long past time we shut down the Americans and European capitalism that caters to the excessive greed.

  11. Ferry employee here: Policy, before my days off, was: Passengers, have and wear a mask if you can't maintain 6 feet distance. However, if you can stay 6 feet apart or are with family, no mask required. Employees, have the mask, and wear it if you are having to get close to people. As a deckhand I wear it as much as possible. Funny thing, They have an announcement that says" The best/safest way to travel is stay in your car," but that same announcement says" We have a selection of grab and go items in our cafeteria/snackbar". Mixed message much.?

  13. It will be interesting to see the level of enforcement. on the skytrain it will be those customer service agents that will just guilt / call out people at the turn stile before entering probably if someone is not wearing one. some people do legitimately forget theirs though and they have places to be. I could see lots of conflict. I know I have forgotten mine a couple times when I needed (wanted) it I usually take the skytrain from coquitlam to burnaby a couple days a week and last week there were noticeably more people wearing masks. i'm going to put a couple extra in my bag right

  16. Tomorrow will be the first day my dad has been out of his house (other than his deck/yard) since February. I'm taking him to the doctor for a Shingrix booster. Really nervous about it...just hate the thought of him being in public at this point. He has battled through so much in the last 20 years and his younger brother passing away this week really has me rattled. Covid's starting to really grate on me....hope those out there running around without a care come to their senses soon. The numbers show that we're on the brink of a really bad upswing.

  19. this thing has brought out the best and worst of our society. I'm glad at least we're not armed up here. re: your beach family - thats the kind of people that you could never teach anything to. Thats why the province needs to bring in more enforcement if the trend continues, pigs like that just don't care.

  21. They want reliable, good management, trustworthy, value. They want their other business to judged fairly, they want their assets to hold their value. In short they want to be judged by banks who payroll most of their business to think they're dealing with reliability. Business is a lot more complex than you believe. Disney didn't stay long in the NHL, most owners in the NHL have a larger than necessary high risk business. You don't see the likes of the English Premier League, MLB of the NFL act like clown shows. The NHL takes which ever owners they can find( think Phoenix, Florida and Senators

  24. The province should never have allowed night clubs and bars to open. The business plans for these establishments just doesn't work when you have the restrictions put in place because of a pandemic. Restaurants have a tough time making money right now with these rules in place even though they are serving food, have a higher turnover and are able to serve take out. Very few people go to a club to sit quietly in a table of 6 in a dark room paying for over priced drinks. Clubs make their money through volume and cover charges. The type of activities at these places during normal times are th

  28. I agree with that, but in the Okanagan most older people are taking it pretty seriously I think. It could be because we have a very significant senior population here and if it gets in, it will wreak havoc in our small communities.

  30. it could be a combo of where we shop + my own confirmation bias at work as well, but I do feel like I see more boomers not wearing masks, and more younger people being complaint in stores. On the beach maybe thats another matter for the U30s.

  31. no, he was an asshat. A person working at the market asked him to put it on properly and he said no. People gave him a wide berth. I just have no tolerance for people who are still going into stores and public places and either not wearing a mask or wearing it like its some kind of protest. We all know we can do something very simple to help others and it just infuriates me to see people like this walking around not caring about the health of others. Its one thing if your are risking your own life, thats fine, but some of us have elderly parents.
