  1. Podkolzin is good on, and under the ice too. ( somewhere in Coal Harbour, Podz arrives to Vancouver.. ready to go)

  2. exactly, a goalie doesn't exist outside of the realm of the team. He's a part of the team........I don't get all the goalie shaming.

  4. From goalie hating, to goalie shaming... ...what’s next? Goalie canceling? False humility aggravates me to no end. I don’t understand how fans don’t see the beauty of this uprising team.

  7. Kelly Hrudey is a well known fLames homer... Tanev in Vancouver... Hrudey..." Tanev is a solid defensive defencemen for Vancouver... Just a little too injury prone... Tanev in Cowtown... Hrudey... "Tanev is the best defenceman in fLames history what a steal!" Lol! We all know how Tanev was and is still one of the best defensive defencemen in the league. We miss him this year for sure especially Quinn) but he's on the wrong side of 30 and as we all know, is injury prone. Even if we had the money to give him the term and dollars... Still 2 years too long and half mill too much.

  8. Tryamkin has been watched by many in this thread closely for the past 3 -4 years. His game is easily NHL ready,. As it was when he played here as a 21-22 year old. He is 27 in August,. and at this same age Tryamkin is easily comparable to a young ZChara. Hard to put a ceiling in Niks game, as most here would agree his game is probably better on the NHL size surface .. something that the KHL has been adopting over the past 3 years. This word and situation of “entitlement” was a forced error brought up by Desjardins, who openly pressured management to have a meeting

  9. I think thats a little dramatic. Take off the Green goggles for a minute - don't you think he simply needs Vesey to be the skilled player he's shown flashes of? he's not going to do that in bottom 6 or plug minutes. With Petey and now Pearson out Green doesn't have many options and he's clearly hoping Vesey regains some of that scoring touch. Motte is great, but with the injury to Beagle we need him shutting lines down, not playing with Bo.

  10. We're inching back to some form of normality. Hockey is HUGE in my life....it's what I do for entertainment. I, for one, will be so excited to see a game live again...I never took it for granted and I certainly appreciate the entire experience. Early on, but it's light at the end of the tunnel that it's even being discussed. (Dad got vaccinated today so everything's starting to trend in the right direction). Can hardly wait for the day......

  11. Cassie Campbell is a double Olympic Gold Medal Captain, and six time World Champion Captain... she gets my thumbs up any day. She knows more in about hockey than most of the people on the Hockey Night panel despite what the misogynists and women haters might say. Hockey is Hockey... and she's a babe too. (spoken by an age contemporary to her... )

  12. Demko has done his best Jacques Plante impersonation in his last 9 starts or so. edit: Actually that's not fair to Demko. He's been like that pretty much since the post-season last year. Can see why Benning went with Demko over Markstrom

  13. I’m confident room will be made for Tryamkin to play and perform with us,. In what I hope is a full regular season of NHL Hockey. He was a 3rd rnd pick,. Some here say I have high expectations of him,. As a 3rd rnd pick, yes, I have above average expectations that I’m sure he will meet. After 1 more full season of NHL hockey, I see Tryamkin as a top 2 pairing D man. top 4 play,. PK solid.. and if used as a specialist in overtime.. this...

  14. Well without Tim Thomas Canucks would have won a cup. I don't see why the Canucks should feel bad that they have a good goalie that can steal games, the goalie is still part of the team.

  17. Some Canucks fans give up way too easy. The team just went on an unbelievable run in March and you think management is going to be sellers? You realize what a poor message that is to the players? All because fans demand an extra third round pick that might not amount to anything in 5 years?

  18. Someone mentioned, trying to grab Rod Brind'Amour as head coach when his contract lapses. Rod I think is just the kind of coach we need. He will make sure players are both mentally and physically ready for games. I'd be curious to see how Gaudette and Virtanen would be under his watch. If after 1/4 of the season Rod says move them. I'd believe what he says. I think he'll get the players working more as a unit, and we'd see better results. Hopefully it won't be as ugly as say trying to get Pat Quinn from Los Angeles. But he seems to be just what the doctor ordered.

  19. Absolutely agree with you, SS. Nik could certainly be a top-pairing D. I'm usually quite positive on the team..but treatment/handling of the bfg is prob the 1 issue that has p*ssed me off the most, over(probably) the past coupla' decades. They had better get this right.

  22. Funny, I'd noticed/commented on that very thing (bottom shot). Can't tell me there's nothing wrong with this and that some teams aren't getting subtle but glaring help at times. What is this garbage?

  23. We now have 21 games left on the season. We have won 7 of the last ten and are a .500 club with a 7-2-1 record, the best last ten record in the division. That won't hold up mind you, but it is nice to see. Games in hand are tricky things, but all the teams ahead of us have some. From 1 g.i.h. to 4, the four clubs above us 2, 3, 7 and 7 points ahead of us respectively. To take advantage of games in hand they will have to win them. past games : Opponent : games remaining W Jan 30th, L Feb 19th, L Feb 21st, W Mar 1st, L Mar 2nd WPG March 22, March 24th, April 4t

  25. I had a thought just now and went back and checked...this is CDC Puck's 6th season It still feels like yesterday when I saw Drew advertise the league; I joined early enough to take Vancouver, and we managed to smooth over the early teething problems with how long the fantasy draft was taking. Since then we've seen more trades than in any fantasy league in history (surely), and we have our best collection of GMs than at any point in the league's history. What an awesome league we have

  26. I'm convinced we'd be in a playoff spot right now if we had competent coaches behind our bench. I've mixed feelings about Green, but Baumgartner and Brown are awful. When you're being killed in shots on net and shot attempts you're going to lose more than you win and we have. This team bleeds shots and scoring chances, we have good enough players that this shouldn't be the case.

  27. Crazy how all year the critique was he wasn't playing enough (fair), and now in the most important moments they are turning to Podkolzin in every situation. Very impressive. It's hard not to be over the moon about this kid. Exactly the type of player we need.

  29. The way he's rep'd the Canucks jersey these past few years on his Instagram I think he's sees himself as a Canuck. I think Diamond and JB will work out a reasonable 2-3 year bridge deal.

  30. You clearly don’t understand the psyche of a professional athlete then. Its not about hurting feelings, it’s about keeping your players motivated and playing hard for something. Cause here’s something you missed in your little rant. You let the players continually play for nothing and throw in the towel at the first sign of adversity and before you know it you’re the Buffalo Sabres. Nothing to do with inferiority and all about understanding how you build a winning team. Here’s a hint, it’s not adding an extra third round pick at the deadline.

  31. Demko has been the better goalie when taking into account environment. Demko has been a top-5 goalie in saves above expected which accounts for the quality of scoring chances he has faced per the advanced tracking company CSA. Since 1 March Demko had faced 317 shots in 9 games - nearly 100 shots more than Grubauer while playing 1 game less (220 in 10 games for Grubauer). Natural Stat Trick has the Canucks with an expected goal for percentage of only 41% at 5v5 since 1 March without last game where Holtby started - only Chicago and Detroit did worse per their

  32. Boeser has 32 points and Toffoli has 27, Boeser is a far better player than Toffoli, Tanev is a good player but not the great player he is being hailed as. sure it would have been nice to keep Tanev and the others. but it wasn't meant to be. time to move on and cheer our team on and not look backwards

  33. He is a Russian. Just like Tryamkin I will not rest easy until both of them sign a contract. The positive is that some of those KHL teams were bouncing cheques last year. Very exciting that Podz and Try could be in the lineup next fall.

  34. Ugh. Apollo i'm sorry you didn't get to watch him play, if you did you wouldn't be making those statements. Also as far as actual goalies go, they had excellent ones back then too - don't be fooled by their size, it made it harder for sure equipment wise but the shooters also all used wooden sticks which was a bit of an equalizer ... and guys like Al Mac and Ifrate could blast them as hard using those as Weber with his today ... I think you've got it wrong in today's game too. With no red line? No interference? No hitting? WG would be just as good today shooting against

  35. Button is always gushing about him for year's, he loves the kid and for good reason. Stat watchers and haters, aside, at 18 he was a leader, at 19 he's been captain of 2 national team's and is being counted on in a prime role on one of the best teams and arguably the showcase team of the league. Just another solid piece of an already elite young core moving forward. Hope to see him this season but that's doubtful unless the worlds get cancelled but man next season we probably see OJ, Podz, Rathbone, Lind and Woo, Lockwood, maybe Gajovich, possibly Dipietro? That's a h

  40. So no grounds gained both teams got 3 points in this mini series. Habs are 6-0-3 against us this season, as close to a season sweep as it gets. We have a problem with our system. Collapsing in front of the net is such an old strategy and doesn’t work if you don’t have an elite goalie and physically strong team that can hit to break the cycle and protect the puck and win board battles and most importantly, maintain possession in the offensive zone so as to not having to play defense for the whole game. We need the coaches to design a system that suits our player pe

  42. Look at his celebration at the end (92). SKA wins 1-0 late in the third period, just watch his reaction. This kid cares about winning, he will do everything possible to win. He has shown time and time again he is willing to pay the price for the better of the team even when it comes at a cost to his own personal success. He goes to the net, creates the scream and havoc in front of the net, battles physically and earns his team a goal. His reaction is even better, the pure jubilation in his face shows his desire and hunger to win. This kid is a gem, we need that attitud
