  2. In related news... the happiest guy in the league today is Brandon Montour.

  3. WOOOOOOO!!!! This is huge for this kid, these moments are defining. Comes up clutch and gets the GWG in an elimination game in triple OT. Cant wait to see him slay some dragons ala Burrows

  5. Amazingly done bit of cap management by the bolts on this. But I'm curious how people can make every single movement in this league in to a non stop whine or complaint against the Canucks and still claim to be a fan of the team. Seems like life might be too short to spend the entirety of it finding new ways to be upset all the time

  7. Glad I don't live in your fantasy world where 28 is old. better get rid of Miller since he is the same age. Bo only has 2 years left. Demko has 2 and a half.

  9. It is even more tiring being a Canucks fan and have to read about all the clowns dissing Benning for signing a 28 year old reasonable player to a reasonable contract that is half a million dollars less than he is making now.

  10. Ha ha, actually this is not funny - Chris seems to use Google translator for this article https://www.championat.com/hockey/news-4318581-bragin-rad-za-podkolzina-posle-mchm-privodili-v-poryadok-ego-psihologicheskoe-sostoyanie.html What Bragin has really said is this: I am very happy for Podkolzin, we talked to him a lot after the world junior championship, put his state of the mind back to normal (Podkolzin was frustrated with his play in WJC). Very happy that he plays efficiently.

  12. Note to all GMs: Please can you ensure from now on that you PM me directly for anything to do with waivers - either putting a player on waivers, or claiming them. Please don't post in the league thread. When placing a player on waivers and sending him to the minors, please also let me know who you would like called up / activated from IR in their place, or else I shall have to use my own judgement. Thank you and happy waiving

  14. I wonder if this playoff performance makes Craig Button rethink where he had Podkolzin ranked in his prospect rankings. Considering Pod has more points than his linemate Morozov, ranked 28 by Button, and he just tied Kravtsov, ranked 16 by Button, as the best U20 KHL playoff scorer in single season history.

  15. If pods doesn't score in his first game, on his first shift then out come the torches .LOL. Then when he scores 6 in the next 6 games (2 of them OT winners) there will be awkward silence followed by "well ,what about that Jake pick".

  21. Kravtsov is actually 1.6 yrs older than Pods. To clarify for others, Krav was a 9th overall pick in '18, but is December born. At 21yrs he has finally had his 1st 4 games in the NHL. He's got size, speed, huge offensive upside and (according to scouting reports), can be defensively responsible. His numbers are much better than Podz, but I doubt he has the defensive skills, relentless motor or physicality of our boy. This is why I wouldn't pencil Podz into the top 6 next season. I think he'll find his way to the top 3 and stay there for (maybe) a couple of years; jumping into t

  22. I’m recovering from a mild case of Covid. I’m a month in. I’m in the worst shape of my life. I still cant work an 8 hour day. I can’t imagine these amazing players being able to compete. This season should be canceled.

  23. True but we have had 10 days “off” for certain players who would have only experienced mild symptoms, so we’ll see. Maybe it’s silly to be optimistic but I think the door has been left open even if just slightly. I’ve had hope with worse odds than this so I’ll be cheering until there’s nothing left to cheer for.

  24. And knowing Benning, we'll still manage to get a superstar.

  25. Honestly - why is Yzerman getting credit for this? It’s a Columbus - Tampa trade and his team is just there to grease the wheels - is there some kind of report where he brokered this thing that I’m missing? He was likely included because his history with Tampa, available cap space and the simple fact his team is among the least threatening to Tampa’s cup window. With all due respect to Yzerman who is a solid GM, I wonder how many 4th round picks will make up the ground of drafting Zadina over Hughes.

  26. Which teams would he be a 4th liner on? He's a marginal 2nd liner/very good 3rd liner. Suggesting he's not an NHLer is hyperbole to the extreme.

  28. I love how poorly the Nucks get portrayed, when I read things about Quinn at a 65 point pace sucks, or Petey had two flukey seasons after a poor 10 games this season, or how signing Pearson will destroy any chance of playoffs next season, because it will be fun to see all the tools backtrack like they always do.

  30. Not going to be many trades left for Monday if a Savard deal gets done before then. Tampa's D already stacked, then add in Savard. Good luck getting through that then Vasilevskiy.

  31. This is the context people have to keep in mind when thinking about how long it will likely take Podkolzin to adjust. "Linden Vey dominating" is everything you need to know about the league and level of competition.

  32. There was an interview with Roussell on French TV. Someone’s (not mine) translation highlights : - he didn’t sleep for two days - his wife and kids all tested positive but feeling good so far - some teammates had worse symptoms (vomiting, dehydration) others felt good - he feels better now and misses playing - he thinks the Canucks can finish the season

  34. Welll, I'd hoped he would come in at $3 mill or a bit under. I was reasonably close. 3 yrs isn't bad, can still be exposed for expansion sake, and the ntc is limited. He gets more tradeable per season, so as soon as Podz pushes him out of the way, it will be time to trade the guy. Begining of the season after next, I'd expect to see Pearson on the third line, gone the season after that. I see some folk are saying Pearson is going to block players from making the team; but will say it is up to incoming players to push Pearson out of the way, not for the team to create

  35. So... based on the Nucks new schedule, unless Podkolzin stays over in Russia to play for the national team, he should be able to get in 7-8 games with us to finish the season. If we can win a couple extra games and the Habs continue to sag, Podkolzin might arrive at the perfect time for a playoff push.

  36. Yeah but they didn't have the hell schedule at the start...they've eased into it with a pretty cushy schedule in comparison for the first 3 months or so. This is our second pull across the coals. I don't feel we're getting shafted....I mean, nothing they could do here. But I don't care how we finish at this point...except I hope it's "intact". Bring in the reinforcements.

  37. I'm putting my reputation on the line! Maybe I'm just happy to see the legend Don Taylor back on tv but I'm feeling the tide turn for our boys 8 points back from the playoffs... We're going streaking ladies and gents. Montreal is going to feel our wraith once our boys are well rested and ready to rock... And in some cases, ready to BROCK! So refreshing to see donnie back on tv. Long live the icon! Also JP says regards to covid... No one had anything serious... As in nothing compared to what actual vulnerable people went thru this past year...
