  2. Okay I finally found the interview with Podkolzin dated May 30, which we have had several references to in the Vancouver mass media: https://sport24.ru/news/hockey/2021-05-31-intervyu-vasiliy-podkolzina-kontrakt-s-vankuverom-nkhl-ska-sbornaya-rossii-chm-2021 This is quite large interview but we have been provided with translation of just 2-3 questions so far. I am going to add some more: Q: How fast did you reach contract agreement with Vancouver (in Russia, the NHL clubs are traditionally called by the home city, that is why the Canucks team is called Vancouver t

  5. Yeah, it's not like Marner is a bad player. It's just that sometimes players are paid more than they're currently worth, so are causing issues in a team environment. We see these examples everywhere... Ie. If Marner made $7M instead of $10M, or if Nugent Hopkins made $4M instead of $6M+, or if Loui Eriksson made a loonie instead of $6M.

  6. Disclaimer To me how you get there doesn't matter as long as you get there. Having the willingness to develop and play the youth when they are ready. There is an ongoing theme happening in post that I have notice rebuilds have taken a long time and no rebuild is the same. Yes Tor said they where going to tear it down and rebuild and they did. But then it begs the question was the Tavares signing counter productive to that method of rebuild. Sounds to me they said one thing and did the other. JB said they would retool on the fly and try to make the playoffs and they didn't change f

  7. Not at all. This year is NOT the year that the 9th overall will get you a king’s ransom. Im sorry but I think that Drance is as qualified as a used car salesman when it comes to hockey.

  9. Huge forward, first and foremost. Just a thick, stocky kid. At U17s he was already listed at 196 and was able to just physically impose his will on the ice. He's now listed around 205. My main concern is just that he's been performing ahead of the curve because of his physical maturity, i.e. ability to outmuscle opponents at the junior level, or ability to not be physically overwhelmed at the pro level, compared to the other kids who went over to Europe. That said, I can see why some people are so high on him. First and foremost he has one of the best shots in the draft, particular

This has to be the first one of these videos where I’ve watched and just sat there nodding my head and agreeing with every point they made, through the entirety of the explanation, and even including the final decision on the number of games suspension. What the **** is happening?!?!?

  14. i thought this post was going to be about JB's defense? he has failed to draft or trade for a top notch defense core. we still don't know how juolevi, rathbone or woo will turn out. schmidt was a good pick up and myers has been a tower some nights. he tried to aquire OEL last off season. i think it would have been a mistake but he was surely looking for a replacement for edler. quinn should be fine going forward, but the team lacks that bieksa type d-man it needs. i'm hoping JB can package his 1st pick + for a young bieksa. we have to be harder to play against.

  15. Alright, it's gonna take me at least a few days (weeks?) to get through my full mock draft, so I'll just post about 5 picks at a time. Once the whole thing is done I may go through and make tweaks, particularly if anyone has helpful comments or critiques, or if Bob McKenzie's final list makes me seriously reconsider what the experts might be thinking. 1. Buffalo Sabres - Owen Power. It seems to be fairly consensus from the experts, so regardless of the intricacies of Buffalo's particular scouting staff, I'm guessing it wouldn't have mattered too much who was going to pick first, Po

  18. If he is available at 9 that's a massive win for the Canucks. He doesn't really have any glaring flaws in his game really. Great skater, great offensive mind, solid defensively, has a NHL frame. He's my 3rd ranked forward behind Beniers and Eklund.

  19. Not op, but in my opinion he has the biggest bust potential in the top end of the draft. Even more then Edvinsson. He also has extreme potential to be one of the besr offensive players in the draft. I'm no expert by any means, but the tapes I have seen it's kinda bewildering how often he looses the puck because he waits to long to make the perfect play. He has so much skill that he skates around by himself and eventually just gets squeezed. That being said, I'm not opposed to drafting him in the slightest. He and McTavish are my big 2. The irony being they are polar opp

  23. I have a feeling that Benning is going to package the pick with a player or two for a top 4 defenseman. If he can strike gold like he did with Miller, I'm good. If I was Benning I'd set my sights on Colton Parayko. He has one year left on his contract, is a right handed, 6' 6" 230 lb defenseman who can skate and score, and would compliment Hughes perfectly. He's 28, so he lines up with the likes of Miller and Horvat as far as age. Would be costly, but he'd provide an upgrade to the defense immediately. Re-sign Hamonic and the defense is a lot better, mind you still run by Baumgartner, but it's

Devils adovcate but dude is leaning in with his head not up (is Evans too young to of watched Don Cherry growing up?? I think not). Take the hit to get the goal in a clutch time... Jake made a split second decision to score and be vulnerable by doing so.. Keep your head up kids.............

  25. I dont understand all the outrage regarding the hit. Do we give up on the play in hockey now? It's a 7 game series. The hit wasnt late. I dont think it was to the head. I dont think it was charging It sends a message that there wont ever be an easy goal. What the hell is wrong with everyone? Should we all be playing with no contact jerseys?

  28. As much as Jones would be nice to get, he is too expensive, for where we are right now. We are still building our team, and yes he would be a great add, but his cost would stall our rebuild, and we would be short players we need for a strong team. I would much more preferr to use our #9 draft pick, and the sign Jones as a UFA. As I would Hamilton this year. In saying that, next year we are clear of all our dead cap space, and when you think about it, we would also have this years and next years draft picks in the system. So, let's do this in the right order, and do it r

  31. I hope the aggressive talk and potential of trading their pick is just posturing to please the all in crowd. This club will show an improvement next year without any big moves. Our biggest issue is the bottom six. We could use a solid defensive defenseman. Another full year of Hoglander, the return of Petey and the addition of Podkolzin will push this club ahead. Jim needs to do what he dose best and draft.

  34. I honestly don't know enough about McTavish to say whether I'm happy with that pick or not, but if Jim & co. feels like there are 9 great prospects & we are in range to get one, then I am confident in them. The last time I remember this kind of talk (we feel there are X number of good prospects available...) we drafted Podkolzin. So I think we'll be adding another fine player to our group if we end up picking.

  36. I thought he’d get a game or two considering he has no history. I don’t hate seeing them get a little heavy handed with the punishments, but again, I have a hard time trying to make this 4 jive with the relative mercy we saw shown to Reeves and Wilson.

  42. Exactly, Scheiffle is a Canadian who plays like a Canadian should. Whistle to whistle. The puck was in play, he clearly let up on his stride, dropped his shoulders and made a solid hit in a very high contact area that situation awareness would dictate caution to opposing players in. As I have said before to those who are claiming charging. Every dump in play where a defenseman gets plastered into the end boards is charging according to the rule book but ti is never called. Why? the NHL likes to see the glass rattle, Evans did not absorb the hot in the same way that NHL
