  4. I’ll admit that I wanted JB fired this year. I’m not a JB hater, but like many others on CDC and elsewhere, I saw him as a great scout but a terrible asset manager. The large number of over-paid bottom six folks weighed this team down, as did losing Toffoli. The turnaround that he has accomplished in the past week is simply astounding. I don’t know if it is due to him learning from his past mistakes or having a better brain trust around him. Yes, there are risks, like OEL not significantly improving from his last two years. Yes, it would have been great to get a third for Holtby an

  6. Suck it @Silky mitts! And all your anti-Benning friends. @combover @kanucks25 @Squamfan LOL. Notice how not one of these people praise these signings and Benning's good work this offseason. This team is going the right direction FOR SURE.

  10. Special shout out to Vintage Canuck - -VC- - perhaps the only person busier than Jim Benning today. Thanks for all your timely updates. I'm a lazy person at heart, so you saved me the trouble of looking up the trades through multiple sources. You truly are a master of disseminating breaking news. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

  14. Sifting through these posts it appears half our fan base will be unhappy unless we had a D-core that looked like this: Hughes - Hamilton Reilly - Barrie Rathbone - Ellis ”How in the sweet $?#% is 1pt worth $2.5m?!” Yeah, who gives a $#!T about killing penalties…

  16. I was impressed by Poolman in the playoffs. Watched every Jets game. Keeping in mind - he was playing in a top 4 (with Morrisey and Stanley) that did a tidy job of shutting down - and sweeping - McMe1st et al.... Morrissey and Poolman - gave up only 2 goals againt in 52:13 of 5on5 matchup.... Stanley and Poolman gave up only 1 goal in 66:19 - and were +2.

  18. People complaining about the price or whether he could have been had for cheaper. It’s free agency y’all!!! You overpay and the fact we paid what we did is ample evidence that we could not have gotten the players for less! We needed a ton of defensive big RD players. Pretty damn specific requirements and mission accomplished. I care not one bit that he has no points. We have loads of offensive talent on the other side of the ice and this will allow them to go all out on the attack while guys like this cover their back.

  19. Poolman is a solid, 200ft dman. He played well in every jets game I watched. If he doesn't fit, that's an easily tradeable contract. Absolutely no reason to cry about it, but I guess the usual suspects have a quota they have to fill

  21. $1 mil x 1 is a great deal for Sutter to Centre the 4th line. Says a lot about him to take such a low contract to stay with the team in a reduced role like that. He knows he's made a lot of money from us the last few years and not necessarily lived up to his contract, so for him to give back to the team like that is very respectable on his part.

  22. After the Canucks signed a dozen players likely heading for the farm today, I figured this would be a good time to start a thread on the upcoming season. The roster is really starting to take shape; here's an overview of the players we have so far for Abbotsford's inaugural season. New Signings (2020-21 Stats) Forwards Phillip Di Giuseppe / LW, age 27 / 6'0", 193 lbs / NHL 31 GP - 1G - 8 Pts Justin Dowling / C, 30 / 5'10", 180 lbs / NHL 27 G - 1G - 5 Pts Sheldon Dries / C, 27 / 5'9", 180 lbs / NHL 3GP - 0G - 0 Pts; AHL 18GP - 5G - 10 Pts Nic Petan / C, 26 /

  27. We needed a big body Defensive D that plays a rough game and can help Hughes and Rathbone. Good deal. Relax SN650, its a 4x2.5M not a 6x6

  30. Hey guys. Just listening to Benning on 650 talk about how many depth players that want to play in Western Canada are now signing here because weither they play for Van, or Abby, they will be in BC now. He mentioned he hadn't realized the importance of that before. Just curious how big of a deal u think moving our AHL team to abbotsford is?

  32. Jets guy on radio now saying Poolman is a fantastic skater. He added Poolman was arguably the Jet’s best d man in the bubble and in the recent playoffs. Poolman caught Covid during the season. Listen and learn. Poolman is a very good player. He’s going to do really well with us. He’s way better for us than Schmidt.

  35. So he basically traded Schmidt and $345,000 in cap space for a 3rd and Hamonic, Poolman, and Schenn. This certainly fits our needs better than Schmidt did. Not spectacular, but we have serious RHD depth now.
