  1. If Gadjovich gets claimed, it's not going to be fun moderating this place...

  2. Tomorrow's my 30th birthday and I'm going to the game with two of my best pals! SO STOKED! Gonna try and make it down in time to watch the warmups which I've never been able to do before (of course my new job is sending me on site visits tomorrow but I should be able to leave work early). I will start one chant (Go Canucks Go or otherwise) from the Larscheiders fan section for every upvote this gets. Mods you should probably pin this post

  10. Should have waived him sooner and kept Gadjovich

  11. He isn't being waived because we can't afford him

  12. Unfortunately, we will have wait until next month to see Pettersson and Hughes re-sign with the Canucks.

  13. I know we're only 3 games into the season, so I may be getting a little ahead of myself here. I just wanted to state that OEL and Garland have been two standouts of the team so far in the young season. OEL, as of right now, looks crisp, he's playing with a ton of emotion and standing up for teammates in scrums. If this is the guy we are going to have for the next seven years, I will gladly take it. Based on what everyone was saying about his declining play prior to the start of the season did have me worried, but man, he really showed to the regular season. I'm not saying he hasn't made mistakes, I just want to focus on the positives that he has brought to the table. I never expected OEL to be able to play with the amount of emotion that he has shown so far. I'm glad we have a Swedish defenceman that can bring some flare to the back end. I loved Edler but he was way too monotonus for me. Garland has already won my heart as a fan. He plays a lot like how Burrows used to play, but Garland has a lot more skill than Burrows did. That celly he scored against Detroit yesterday was insane. And top of that, he was able to agitate the entire Red Wings bench. His speed, tenacity and drive every shift has been invigorating to watch. Even though the games have not exactly gone our way so far, the games have all been entertaining, and these two are big reasons why. I'm looking forward to our next game already!!!

  14. Clears. People complain about Joulevi and JV picks. Happens all the time to every team. Why people think we are special I’ll never know lol

  15. My thoughts. 1. They really lulled in the second period, but came back with a strong effort in the third. Overall I can't be too disappointed with a S/O loss. 2. They're really overpassing on the powerplay. Still. Just to fire it at the logo. This really needs to be fixed. 3. Demko was excellent. I think his contract ends up being a steal. 4. Hoglander was great. The best Canucks skater. This guy is going to be a player for us. And I don't just mean "a guy they drafted that actually became an NHLer". I mean a legitimately good player in the league. 5. Garland was impressive as well. Reminded me of Hoglander. Very creative. Very strong on his edges. The only thing is, and I know he's a strong guy, but you could see him getting outmuscled on some plays that can't be helped because of his stature. 6. Pettersson looked good. No goals but you can see how he can take over games. He looked a lot more dominant out there too. Forcing plays by himself, and he'll only get better at that as he continues to fill out. 7. OEL looked solid. His goal was important of course, but if he can play like this throughout the season, I think his contract won't be an issue. 8. Myers earned a "Get out of Whipping Boy Free" card for laying out Keith. 9. Horvat showed his leadership with his response to post whistle scrums. 10. Hughes looked solid. You can see he's trying to make more of a commitment to defense, especially with how hard he hustled when the puck was turned over. 11. I was disappointed Podkolzin got so little ice time. I know he's a rook but he didn't seem that bad to me. 12. Chiasson, while I think he can have a role on this roster, has absolutely no business being on the top line or PP1. His stick was where plays went to die. 13. Lamikko looked like a solid pickup. 14. Poolman looked really good. Very stable defensively, almost Tanev like. We'll see how well the contract ages but this game was encouraging. 15. I don't know what the deal with Miller was. He wasn't looking like the player we expect. I don't know if he was trying to play mindgames with Smith or something but I was a little peeved with what seemed like complete nonchalance on the shootout. 16. &^@# the Oilers. Overall, it wasn't a W, and maybe its the multiple Steamworks IPAs in me combined with my excitement that Canucks hockey is back, but I'm okay with this game. Lots to improve on, but lots to be encouraged by.

  22. It was a bit surprising to see Green use the same lines in practice yesterday. The one lineup change I would make is putting Burroughs in for Schenn. I don’t think Burroughs should have been scratched in the first place, as he was playing well.

  25. Anyone who still uses a bag skate to evaluate players needs to go back to the AHL. As far as the personnel on this team, Benning has assembled one of the better teams on paper since 2012. It's not his fault Sutter is sick and Hamonic refused to show up. Those are two pieces that really could have helped that we thought were coming. Most likely we waived Gadjovich and MacEwen because of Green, so we lost our only 2 tough guys because Green wanted to play his AHL fodder that obey his every command. This is NOT on Benning at all. This team with the right coach is an easy playoff team, even without Sutter and Hamonic. The problem is the guy behind the bench. It's so obvious even a blind mouse can figure it out.

  26. I just wanna congratulate everyone for surviving that insufferable broadcast. Sportsnet had the McDavid grandma clips already cued up. Seriously though Canucks stuck with it and got a point. The skills comp is a toss up and a couple high shots were the difference. Is there a more unlikeable goalie than Smith? What a prima donna goofball.

  28. Despite the complainers, getting wins and points does a whole lot to gel a team. These are important points out of the gate, as we all know. In not having Petey and Quinn through camp, obviously there's some tinkering to be done to find the best fit for everyone. Sometimes natural chemistry is there that you can tap in to. I'm excited that we have so many exciting players TO strategize with. I am so impressed with Hoglander...he's been a real stand out to me. I love Garland's energy....never say die. He's got that Burr like quality of just giving it his all and that'll matter in games we're losing a whole lot. That's when that energy really can count. Podz is going to be a real treat...but let him ease in and savour the victories (like his first goal). Glad Petey and Quinn are showing their confidence. Miller's our leading point getter so far (4 points in two games). His "attitude" is simply him wearing his heart on his sleeve. Sure, he gives up on some plays if they go sideways on him, but he doesn't give up on the game. That's important. Demko's showing why we made the right decision with him. OEL's so impressive to me...totally on board. It's really fun to be a Canucks fan right now....not sure why we have so many naysayers (already).

  32. 1st it was Gadjovich to get claimed by the sharks, now it's Zakk MacEwen by the flyers.... not sure about anyone else but I'm starting to get pissed off. WTF is going on? No the sky is not falling but what ever we have for star players are going to be. There is already very little respect for our team in general bease of the lack of muscle on our team and we just got softer.... any 1 watch the Nucks and coilers the other night in Edm. Mac did pretty good against Kassian and now he's gone. Any 1 else getting pissed off by these moves.
