[Signing] Flames re-sign Jonathan Huberdeau

Good for the flames to salvage their summer. As for Miller it will come down to if he wants maximum cash or if he wants opportunity to win. If he’s getting 10 a season the teams depth takes a hit. -
[Signing] Flyers re-sign Zack MacEwen

Exactly a guy like this even if he plays 4-5 years in the league the rest of his life is much easier than the rest of us. -
The Hypocrisy in the Media and the Fanbase about the New Regime

At this point the biggest change is the confidence in management. OP isn’t wrong in that what we will see hit the ice in the fall is still largely Benning’s team. Hope new management is successful in making the small adjustments needed for the team to reach its potential. -
[Signing] Blue Jackets re-sign Patrik Laine
flat land fish replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Goal scoring is the toughest skill to find in Hockey and Laine has potential to be top 5 in the league when he’s dialed in. Something we migh learn from the Jets is how they prioritized Wheeler as the “guy” and I think it didn’t give room for Laine to reach his potential. Case could be made that moving out Miller would give our guys in their early to mid 20’s room to become the undeniable top dogs of the team and reach their potential. -
That’s amateur hour right here is the real deal.

That’s great I thought he had aged out of that category but would be great opportunity if he could make it.

Seemed like Higgins was also involved with the skill oriented stuff

[Signing] Canucks sign Ilya Mikheyev

Kuzmenko with brick and Miller might work really well. Brock did really well as the trigger man with the Sedins. Giving a line like this lots of ozone starts they could probably dominate possession and fill the net. -
Some details of the story don’t make a ton of sense, the purpose of the woman’s trip to Vancouver was a photo shoot but also commented that she hadn’t showered or shaved her legs because she didn’t intend to “hookup” but if in town on model business wouldn’t you be groomed? If the guy was a total disaster when you met him why would you agree to meet 1 on 1? Jake obviously comes off very greasy in the whole scenario which isn’t a surprise for anyone that has followed his career. If the judge declares Jake not guilty does the accuser maintain their anonymity?

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
flat land fish replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Given how slow the ufa side of things is on kadri and Klingberg I don’t think it’s likely we see a trade before the season on Miller. If at the trade deadline we can’t extend Miller then the best move move for going forward is to acquire some tradeable assets like high draft picks and use those in the off season to acquire a replacement roster player(s). If your first in your division and blowing away the competition then you bite your lip and keep him for the playoff run. -

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

Some good points. Most of the contenders have burnt up their cap space. If they are serious about improving their team few players drive the value for dollar that JT millet does. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
flat land fish replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
He’s one of the most productive players from his draft class and is a 2nd rounder to boot. Bit of a drop off in confidence and a soft-more slump. If he shows up with a good attitude expect a better season. Low pressure with a better supporting cast this season. -
Rather than nit picking small details that we really don’t have total transparency on who did what all we know is JB lead the whole team and set the table for the current management group. There is the basis of a decent team here but also one with a poorly managed salary cap structure. It will be up to Alvin to fine tune the group in a similar way to what Gillis did to help them reach their maximum potential regardless of what that is. We don’t likely have any superstars incoming from the farm but I would also be surprised if we aren’t graduating 1-2 players per year over the next 4-5 years into depth roles and some of those guys will be selections from the Benning era.

Media didn’t ask any questions about defense.

I thought the cheap shot on podkolzin was uncalled for. Kid made steady improvement and plays a winning brand of hockey. -

If your forwards are good enough at dictating play you aren’t in your end as much and the d has a much simpler job. Looking at every team profiled on tan today pretty much all had the same goal of improving the back end. -

Shaping up to see more parity in the eastern conference -
I watched him a lot in his junior career with the pats. Great speed and brings good skill but to me he always projected as a guy that’s not really a bottom 6 forward type but lacking a little bit to be a top 6 guy think like Sven baertschi. If he can’t crack top 6 in Anaheim it’s not going to happen anywhere for steel.
