[Signing] Jets re-sign Gabriel Vilardi

He was on what should have been a pretty good jets team and should have been part of the solution -
[Signing] Jets re-sign Gabriel Vilardi

I struggle to see how he is going to change his stripes on bringing the best version of himself player and person to the rink everyday. I’m sure we’ve all known people that are like I’ll be happy when _______ happens in my life. Usually those type of people are happy for a short period of time and then backslide into there old patterns. -
The Cap, the Roster, and Where do we go from here
flat land fish replied to JamesB's topic in Canucks Talk
Honestly until some of the high cap guys come off the books or one of our internal guys emerge I think this is a what you see is what you get defense situation -
[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
flat land fish replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think you keep Myers and play him with a steady veteran. Myers tries to over help when he plays with a d partner he doesn’t trust and that’s where stuff goes sideways for him. -
[Signing] Blackhawks re-sign Corey Perry
flat land fish replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Sure I here where you are coming from but with TB’s d core they shouldn’t be conceding much off the rush. I think it’s probably more likely 38 year old was playing like a 38 year old -

Perry was -26 on one of the best teams in the length -
[Signing] Blackhawks re-sign Corey Perry

That’s what I was thinking. Players who can still play are literally being given away and the blackhawks are writing expensive cheques like this stealth tank? -
Lots of hand wringing about the 4th round, guess what this deep odds are stacked against any of these picks becoming nhl players.

I think they are quite different prospects, OJ was best known for hockey IQ whereas Willander is best known for his skating and athleticism. Other than the top 3 picks all of these prospects have parts of their game to improve to be meaningful NHL players.

As long as he has amazing compete he will want whatever the biggest prize is. I like guys who want to win and become experienced at winning.

Between the 4 guys highlighted above I think it’s reasonable to provide 3rd pairing minutes to one of them. Ideally one steps up and can begin working up the lineup.

Willander was top 10 in 3 combine drills. Lots of raw ability looking forward to tracking development, ncaa will be a great development spot for him the next year or two.

Or we traded for a guy already in his prime in Hronek and still picked a guy that’s projectable to be top 4.

[Rumour] Canucks interested in Carson Soucy
flat land fish replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Based on the whole playing under 20 minutes a game and asking him to do more getting some poolman vibes -
[Buyout] Oliver Ekman-Larsson

NHL players for the most part are incredibly competitive. A few people highlighted maybe OEL’s spark had gone out. If you have ever played on a team where 1-2 players aren’t as invested as everyone else you can relate to how incredibly frustrating and demoralizing that is. What I was getting at is management is directing that this will be a meritocracy which is what teams need to be their best. -

I think one of the untouched benefits of cutting OEL is it sets an organizational standard for all players including veterans on long term contracts that it’s time to buy in and produce or you can and will be replaced. -

Exactly expect him to sign somewhere on a 1 yr deal at under 2million -

I wonder what sort of contract alex killorn gets at ufa Tampa is capped out. Guessing the term will be too long for the Canucks but gotta imagine he will be looking for a team he could win with. -

I could get on board with something like that.
