I believe the goal 2-3 players who play 200+ games

It’s what makes the series so intriguing, they have more beef in their lineup but we are faster. Road runner always wins right? one thing I’ll say is we need to make sure Schwartz and Tarasenko are absorbing as much punishments as Petey and Hughes. We have guys capable of making good clean hockey hits against those guys.

WCQF: (4) St. Louis Blues vs. (5) Vancouver Canucks
flat land fish replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
You have to win four series to win the cup presumably against tougher competition each round. No free lunch for anyone in the nhl playoffs. -
That’s always the parallel I thought of given Murray’s injury troubles in the First few years after he was drafted.

WCQF: (4) St. Louis Blues vs. (5) Vancouver Canucks

I think this is a great test for the Canucks with the goal being knocking off the defending Stanley cup champs. curious to see how hungry the blues are having reached the top of the mountain last year and with the unusual break in the season. -
Last night on Sportsnet they showed off this graphic that the leafs have not won a series since 2004. It prompted a funny memory. As a longtime leaf hater I was really rooting for the sens in that series and had a bit of an angry tirade when the leafs won the deciding game. I was living in an apartment at the time and my girlfriend who is now my wife suggested we go grab an ice cream to which I agreed. When we got back in some sort of sugar induced euphoria my wife decided she should show off her dance moves which involved kicking her feet high in the air. She landed funny on one and said I think I broke my foot to which I was like no way you broke your foot and sure as sh*t she did. The next day one of our neighbours saw her limping down the stairs and stopped her to make sure she wasn’t being abused after hearing a bunch of yelling the night before. When they showed the highlights of the 2004 game we both were laughing at how long it’s been since the leafs won a playoff series.

Leafs are in a tough situation all of the guys that would bring back a top pairing shutdown d are high priced. Even if you pursued that direction I don’t think you would do well on a trade. Others have raised the one guy that would garner a top flight d would be Matthews and you can’t even consider that. Maybe if you could get one of the Norris finalists. I’m sure most would agree Nylander is the likely trade piece but ask yourself this on a team that is going to be a cup contender is he the top dog.... certainly not he’s probably not your second best forward so at his cap hit are you getting a 1st pairing d or a second pairing d. Good luck Kyle.

[Speculation] Canucks interested in Tyson Barrie
flat land fish replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Based on what I’ve seen with Barrie he would be redundant in Vancouver pp2 at best. Needs to go to a team where he’s the main offensive dman. Everyone would love a Seth jones, petriangelo doughty type dman just very difficult to obtain. -
Toronto’s scouting department must have had an internal bias against grit. It’s like you can’t be both skilled and gritty. You look at their roster who’s going to score a greasy goal or go through somebody to get to the net. Even the trades they made. Like Barrie is a quality defender but plays the same role as Reilly. It appeared obvious to me that they needed more of a shutdown d but they fill up the team like a fantasy hockey team. They may yet win the series but they need a much different complimentary cast before they are any sort of cup contender.
