[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
flat land fish replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Tough to think of a better rental in recent years with salary retention and an expiring contract most teams can be in the mix and the combination of face off ability and goal scoring should drive premium assets coming back. -
I think the top end of our prospect pool in terms of top pairing defence and top 6 forwards is weak but there are probably more depth guys on d than we’ve had forever in (filip Johansen and d Petey while guys like truscott, woo, and jurmo profile as potential bottom pairing potential). Up front podkolzin, Hoglander and klimovich all have middle 6 potential. If we can backfill a really strong d in a horvat trade and draft one of the top centers team can backfill some of the weak points and move forward.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

Interesting though is if Horvat wants more money than that it will probably have to be for a team that’s rebuilding and has cap space. Which top 10 teams have expiring contracts for centers getting paid 8 Million+ -
[GDT] Around the NHL | January (15-21) 2023

Unfortunate for pacioretty but will put Carolina in a position to take on Salary at the trade deadline and they should be motivated buyers. -
It would be interesting how many shootouts would be eliminated with a 10 minute 3 on 3, certainly more satisfying for all players

These social issues are a big challenge. Both sides have a point the pride community should be welcomed in any NHL rink and it’s fair to want players of all races, cultures and orientation welcomed and represented in the league if they have the ability to play. On the other hand if a players Religious belief isn’t aligned to Pride is it reasonable to put them on the wrong side of their Religion? It’s easy to say just skate a lap in the Jersey but I’m not a religious person so It’s difficult to comprehend for me the internal conflict that might create. Given the negative press that was bound to be incurred I think it’s fair to say it’s more than just Provorov being a homophobe as it would have been easier to go with the flow. Shame the controversy took away from what would have otherwise been a positive night for Flyers and Pride. -
I was a little concerned with his offensive output but leading scorer on his team has 22 points in 34 games. So he’s not getting too many easy assists from offensive players finishing. Would be huge for the team if he’s a “player”

What Tuthrrford described taking back underperforming ELC guys I really don’t like but the interesting ones would be the Rangers recent lottery picks only problem is they aren’t centers or RD which I think makes it an unattractive target. NJ would be a great trade partner, Horvat fills a need for a power forward and they have D and or young players that could come back. Horvat and Hughes for Hischier, Nemec and additional futures?

My attitude is your not a great player unless you can elevate the play of your linemate/teammates. Bo for all he does well including the lift in goal scoring has never possessed that quality. Good player just not a great one. -

To be fair the whole “get paid” stuff is crap he’s made a mint already, classic contract year performance, trade him recoup best assets you can and move forward. -
Problem is that still doesn’t fix the defense. Need to trade Bo for a good young defensemen and hopefully we can land a replacement top 6 C in the draft.
-
Maybe Major surgery could be trading Hughes to the devils for Nemec plus a roster player. Horvat for a younger Center and additional futures.
-
Only if you know how to use them.
-
If you are trading either of them you pretty much need to accompany it with a scorched earth rebuild. As great as Bedard is trading Pettersson plus a top 10 pick doesn’t make a lot of sense as having two excellent players is better than a single generational one. If we hit on the lottery this time great if we don’t let’s take a top pick and run with it.

Just Because There Was No Management Thread

Add Mikheyev signing when we had plethora of wingers other weaknesses and used up what little cap space we had to resign our captain. -

Canucks Management "NO-SHOW's" at STH/Memebers only meeting.
flat land fish replied to RU SERIOUS's topic in Canucks Talk
How do you hold players accountable if management won’t face the music. I was reading Brian Burke’s book over the holidays and he described calling season ticket cancellations and going on local radio to help provide the fans confidence. These guys need to learn to build bridges with the fans/community -
https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/nhl-team-stats-shots-allowed-per-game-this-year we are about 10th worst in shots allowed per game and would need to reduce our shots allowed per game by about 3 to get to the level defensively as the playoff teams. Some of that could be achieved by improving structure. That we didn’t pivot on coaching to change structure could be a stealth tank tactic.

What percentage of puts are made from inside of 2 feet? Shooting percentage will come down but part of it is the quality of the scoring chances. -
[Waivers] Casey Fitzgerald, Jake Leschyshyn
flat land fish replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Slow your roll lol Gaunce atleast punched in 5 in 30 games last year. Watched Leschyshyn play a lot of junior and never understood the buzz other than the last name. Not particularly big bodied or skilled or fast.
