[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Winnipeg Jets | Jan. 27, 2022

Miller is our US equivalent of Linden, so far. What a leader and game changer. Just need him to put someone through the glass and lead us to a cup! -

I haven’t read all the thread but I have make a few points that may be redundant: 1. Spenser, I came out of nowhere, Martin. What an amazing 3 games from him. I love Demmer, but this guy could be our Roy or Dryden if he keeps it up! 2. To the ‘trade JT crowd’ just go away. He is a gem that will shine brightly for this team for years. 3. The UHM line as I will call it. Uho, Highmore, Motte. Uhm they were awesome, didn’t factor in points, but holly $&!#e were they aggressive in shutdown mode! 4. Amazing high energy game from a team that could be on the rise! Beam me up Scotty! -

If anyone didn’t notice, after Lowry’s hit on Quinn he shook it off and gave him a big shove. Then Luke came in and gave Lowry a lesson. Both are tough, not worried about Hughes, such a steal for the nucks. -
It’s above us (meaning up in the air lol). But wow, the level of hockey intelligence Aquaman has brought in, the sky is the limit. Expect some turbulence though... with perhaps the perfect landing.

[Signing] Senators re-sign Nick Holden
CaptKirk888 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
‘You got know when to Holden, know when to walk away, know when to run...’ with apologies to Kenny Rogers, RIP. -
Thanks for explaining, I get what you mean. But I don’t think it requires trading away the vets/money we have now. Miller, Bo, Pete and Boeser are all very good players, and the latter 2 are too young to give up on. Yes to drafting well and making good UFA signings (especially on D) but I say keep this core. You trade away the “player no name”’s. We got OEL and Garland that way, now that is team building and adding to the core.

[Signing] Oilers sign Evander Kane
CaptKirk888 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I totally agree with what you are saying, but in the op’s defence, I think he/she was commenting specifically on Kane’s moral judgment, without thinking about McDavid’s gf. We all make mistakes, especially with sarcasm. -

Thanks for that. I was thinking you were part of the ‘1%’ -

Nor will us as fans discussing it make it “magically happen” lol -
This your quote copied from your profile Making the playoffs really doesn’t matter at this point. This team needs to be restructured. I know this is hard for fans to hear but trades have to be made to make the club better in the long term. Getting rid of money and getting faster with picks and prospects should be the long term goal. If they win great but I am not even worried about playoffs anymore. It’s so far off, you have to get rid of players that change the look of the team. so what exactly did you mean?

Agreed! Why the need to hypothesize such a situation? -

And the time, effort and money they put into his hockey. My oldest son played for 12 years and it cost me a $&!#load of time and money and it was just for fun, he was never rep and we didn’t care. It was just the joy of the game without any expectations. -
If you watched the Spoilers game you must have seen the speed and precision of that move he made in ot, didn’t score but nice moves. He also made some nice plays earlier too. Here’s the extended game link https://www.nhl.com/video/edm--van/t-277350912/c-10357726 Every player has his ups and downs, you don’t trade them when they’re down and you don’t think of it when they are up. As Deb said, it will come. Thankfully management is not as reactionary as us fans.

No cup winning team has ever done this. You need the veterans to teach the young upstarts. You need the no offence grinders, those 4th liners don’t score much but they keep the opponents from scoring. Please don’t quote 2010 Chicago, yes Toews and Kane were young but have a look at the rest of the roster. Sharp was 29, Hossa, and Campbell 31, Duncan Keith was 27, Versteeg and Ladd 25. Everyone I mentioned (except Kane and Toews, in their 3rd season) had at least 3-8 seasons under their belt. My point is that you need a mix of experience not building from just the draft. I as I said, look it up, no team has ever won the cup from its own drafting.

These comparisons with Hansen are ridiculous. Just go to NHL.com and check out the scoring stats. Hansen was far more prolific then Dicky is.
