  1. not a fan of demko going to Dallas as they have Jack Campbell already but Vrana over a dmen over Sanheim? iunno .........
  2. Desjardins & Oates or Johnston perhaps Can we just keep Gulutzan as Kassian's coach?
  3. It was Shero & Bylsma that wanted Kes. One is gone and the other is still on the edge. Kes might not even want to go there anymore. To do what? play as a winger? a 3C? so stop bringing up the Pittsburgh proposals and look more into Anaheim as Murray will go make a pitch again Perhaps we can get Fabbri with the 10th overall
  4. I don't think I can read the EHLERS thread anymore x_x

      wut if he's absent?

    3. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

      ^Won't happen. He's absent-minded but he'll be there.

He really takes that thread way too seriously. Basically if you don't agree with him, you're a troll.

  5. EXACTLY. People got to put the Pouliot fantasy to rest.. Shero's gone. Kesler wouldn't even want to be there if it weren't for Shero & Bylsma
  6. For those that know who Corey Pronman, here's an insightful segment on players' stock rising, and a lot of good prospect talk. https://soundcloud.com/lowdownwithlowetide/hour-1-feat-guy-flaming-corey-pronman Skip to the 6th minute or so in summary of the quotes from @Hope_Smoke (who has no life and tweets non stop from radio interviews in Toronto) ** if youre reading these quotes start from bottom up** cheers "I think Ekblad is close to that level of prospect [like Seth Jones]. I think both are very close as prospects" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 35m Pronman "I probably would lean to Seth Jones over Ekblad [if they were in the same draft] but I don't think it's a clear argument" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 37m Pronman "I think Fabbri is a guy who you can make a good argument about going in the top 20" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 37m Pronman "what you want to see in a small guy, because you want him to overcome his deficiencies, great skater/skill knows how to make plays" Expand Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 38m Pronman "Fabbri is a guy who has impressed me all season. I've had in my first round since August. Does so many things well" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 39m Pronman "I think Bennett and Reinhart have more potential as offensive and defensive players as well [over Draisaitl]" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 40m Pronman "I group players in tiers, & I have Draisaitl in 5-9 tier. If Bennett or Reinhart are on the board I recommend them over Draisaitl" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 41m Pronman "I personally wouldn't advise it [taking Draistaitl 3rd overall]." Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 42m Pronman "from pure skill to overall upside Nylander is the best player in this draft" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 42m Pronman "I think Nylander's firmly a top 4 prospect at this draft. I don't know if I'm confident that he'll go there." Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 43m Pronman "then at the Under 17s, Nylander was arguably the best player there" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 44m Pronman "Nylander's play for Modo from Jan-Feb on was some of the best hockey I've seen from a 17 year old at the SHL level" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 45m Pronman "towards Jan-Feb Nylander started to worry me, but from then to the end of the year he was incredible in Sweden" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 46m Pronman "my top tier going into this season was Nylander, Ekblad, Reinhart & Bennett. Those were the 4 & the order fluctuated a little bit" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 48m Pronman "I think Bennett still has a lot more room to grow. This is still only his second CHL season" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 48m Pronman "Sam Bennett is an incredible all around talent. Speed, skill, hockey sense and his intangibles." Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 49m Pronman "...dynamic def player to go with, not dynamic, but very good offensive abilities. That's why he's the moderately clear #1" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 50m Pronman "...is he [Ekblad] a dynamic defensive player? From close observations, and talking to scouts, I do think he is a..." Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 52m Pronman "he [Ekblad] wasn't as dynamic as Drew Doughty was coming into the draft with the puck. If you're going to put him 1st..." Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 53m Pronman "that's why I watched Ekblad very closely this year. It was evident he wasn't as highly skilled as top D prospects of recent years" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 54m Pronman "defensive value is always one of the hardest things to isolate when you're scouting" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 1h Pronman "Sanheim he was a guy who wasn't a top 2 round prospect & now I'll be surprised if he isn't taken in the top 45" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 1h Pronman "Fiala had an outstanding second half one of the best in recent years. Went from a fringe 1st rounder to a top 10 guy" Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 1h Pronman on TSN 1260 "a couple of guys that really stood out the second half of the year were Ehlers & Fiala"
  7. Stop bringing up Tim Burke guys... they're not letting him go. But... Shero over Benning? Window's closing on Benning too... yikes. Better not lose both and find Nanny McPhee.
  8. More from interview I had posted on my FB .. excuse the font Had team meeting one morning, David Booth showed up 5 minutes early and as meeting started JT started ranting about DB being late. Booth then acknowledges that he's present in the room - verbal exchanges occured Torts didn't do video homework on upcoming opponents, nor did the practice much (as Kesler was concerned with previously)
  9. sweet. now when the Canucks sign Iginla this offseason ... "The Next Hossa'
  10. why is everyone so antsy? it's bound to happen, expect an announcement by Tuesday/Wednesday if it is Benning.
  11. Anyone have VIP access to Corey Pronman's draft/reports? If the so called top 5 is gone I'm thinking Ehlers/Kapanen/Virtanen in this order on our scouts' list but :/ MDC may drop still. Ehlers won't go any further than 8th. Shanahan likes a high risk high reward pick like him
  12. A good coach will adapt with the team's personnel and form a system that will make it work, the other is to implement their own system like Torts did onto a team that has been so used to the puck possession style rather the bump and grind style
  13. I hope that if Horvat makes this team Matthias is still put in a scoring role, he may break out soon either way... as long he remains in the top 9. such a fan of the guy and a great 3C
  14. Safe to say we should try not to trade with Dallas (if/when Benning gets hired)
  15. Absent Canuck you know I'm not one of those guys who'd pick on you... ...but can you stop being such a homer?
  16. what's your evaluation on the more recent years with the B's ? drafting wise
  17. if MDC gets picked up before it's our turn I'm putting my money on Kapanen even according to that article on the Canucks and their needs with all the possession % talk and what not... had the Canucks picking MDC/Kapanen/Nylander . Sorta shows what the Canucks may be leaning on and not someone like Ritchie
  18. Jason Botterhill seems like another Laurence Gilman http://thehockeywriters.com/jason-botterill-pittsburgh-penguins-blueprint/ http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/2012/02/25/edmonton-born-jason-botterill-is-one-of-the-nhls-top-young-executives/
  19. his drafting resume would be my thought for a good candidate.. just an opinion. the trading part would be crucial as I'd leave Gilman with all the negotiating (if he sticks around) with Benning.. I don't know if he'd change up the scouting guys :/ a bunch of old timers he used to play with.. if you were in his position, would you be able to relieve them of their duties? my choices were* Hextall, Benning, Shaw, Futa edit: hold on, impressive track record? mmm..... Edit2: mkay, figured out why i'm hesitant on his first round picks. http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/2014/04/25/jim-benning-presumptive-front-runner-vancouver-canucks-gm/ but on the bright side... better picks were made in mid round/late rounds which i'm more concerned about
  20. I guess everyone has their own opinion. Sorry about that :/
