Jason Garrison has been playing on the right side since he was in Florida. He was paired with Campbell and was placed on the right side.
Previous to joining the Canucks, Garrison only had 1 good season and that was mainly due to playing along side Campbell. His contract was a massive overpayment from the day it was signed, he was worth $2.75-3.25 million maximum.
Most of Garrison's points come off of secondary assists, that's one of the reasons why his point total is so high. He is an average defenseman, who should be on the bottom pairing and not on the top 4.
He consistently is caught chasing in his own zone, gets stuck screening his own goalie, rarely uses the body, and is out of position numerous times. On offense he has a very strong shot, but it becomes useless as he misses the net by like 3 feet almost everytime, but he is pretty good at keeping a play alive from time to time.
Overall he is not worth his contract. I would be looking to trade him because a buy out is not worth it.
