Change Needed!-Aquilini's Please Fire Gillis!
Benchsplinters replied to Ricciuti1's topic in Canucks Talk
No man, you watch the games and tell me what you don't like about the teams play. Gillis is not the problem. It is the players that need to step up. Right now, this team cannot even pass the puck. They are standing around in defensive mode, not wanting to make a mistake or get caught out of position. Their play is pathetic. They have no confidence and they are not playing like a team but a bunch of individuals. Right now, this team does not even resemble the team it was in December The players have not lost their ability or hockey skills, they have lost the psychological aspect of their game. They need to win that back. This is not the time for knee jerk reaction. A trade may be in order but to start firing the coach or the GM is not the answer either. Who is out there anyway at this time of year when all teams are jockeying for a play off spot. The players need to get their heads straight and get back to the basics. -
I am witnessing a team that has no identity, no confidence and no will. Their passing is lousy, they are not physical and the PP looks bush league at best. They now appear to have even lost their basic hockey skills. As much as I love this team, they are depressing to watch and that is really sad

Gillis silent while Canucks need him most (Bold moves my ass)
Benchsplinters replied to Jamaicanice's topic in Canucks Talk
Very well said. Perceptive and written with common sense. Managements is all about analyzing options and doing the right things at the right time. No room for a Saturday night hillbilly, charging wildly around like a bull in a China Shop making knee jerk reactions. Gillis can only make the deals he has open to him. Someone said earlier he could have got Jeff Carter for Schneider. I wonder who else Gills refused to give up besides Schneider. It seems highly suspect to me that Schneider would be the only player Vancouver had to give up, especially with Quick within the grasp of the Kings. -

Show your displeasure of running your goalie by being reciprocal with the other goalie. Get in his face and make him uncomfortable. Did we see that last night -no, then why the hell not. Torts is preaching net presence who other than Sestito showed any net presence. We hear all the hockey cliches about strong forecheck, get in front of the net, score some dirty ones, play our game etc etc etc. Well I say do the walk like Torts wants, not the talk. The ducks manhandled us last night. We continued to be suave and nonchalant and look what happened. I expected more from Dany last night. It was heart breaking to me as well. Up a goal with six minutes to go, game gets tied and we lose it in OT with .6 of a second left. Shame. -

These are the type of opinions I like to read. They have some common sense thought to them. One does not have to agree with a point of view (not saying I disagree with you), one can actually see a viable idea being projected. Half of the crap written in these threads are simply ridiculous and don't even add to the issue. +1 for being constructive and giving someone something to think about -

Does anyone even know if there are some bold moves out there to be had with every team now jockeying for playoff position? Everyone out there have sharp critical comments about what a GM should do, but all they are is whine from a bunch of internet losers who haven't even got a simple idea what deals can be made or more realistically, what players are available. It is obvious other teams have players who have NT/M clauses in their contracts, yet their names have been suggest and spewed out here by those very same people who continue to whine about the management of our team. Get real losers and shake your heads to loosen your thought processes. Ya, any fool can make a brain fart suggestion about who Gillis should trade and what players he should trade for. The trick, if it is not obvious to all whiners here, is to be able to make the deal, not just yap it up like many of you continue to do because stupidity remains anonymous on the internet, right? My comments refer to all other GMs as well. There isn't one out there that is not trying to make his team a Stanley Cup winner, yet the know-it-all fans of those respective teams continue to have all the answers and solutions to the problems of each team. I really wonder how many of those same fans would even attempt to try to convince others face to face how little they know about managing a hockey team. All who would try would be labelled a fool. The closest the majority of you have got to the game is in some beer league and the rest of you have probably not even laced on a pair of skates or know how to skate. Tell me all you self professed experts, why the hell are you not all GMs in the NHL? Talk is cheap and when it comes to hockey knowledge, many of you are simple paupers at best. Yes Vancouver lost a couple of hockey games and yes I was ripped like many of you but to be warm and snugly and offer praise to everyone associated to the team only at those times when the team is winning is a might hypocritical would you not say? A year or two ago, Gillis was considered a great GM. The team was doing very well and the nay sayers were undercover or had jumped onto the bandwagon. They loss of the Stanley Cup to Boston and once again woke up the negative horde and a deluge of criticism once again poured down on management. Over night, management felt the wrath from those in the cheap seats. In the opinion of the brainless, Gillis became stupid over night. Go figure that strange rationale; from king to bum practically in the same day. Yes these threads are here for everyone to be able to express an opinion whether in agreement or disagreement. However, they should also be available to comment on how irrational and ridiculous some posters express non-credible bull crap in these threads as well. So have at me boys any way you wish but using sincerity you know I am right. -
What they need is some big guy in the hall way slapping each one of them up side the head between periods to make sure their attention stays on the game.

It wasn't a ref that gave that puck up at our blue line. Believe it or not it was one of our veteran core players. I won't bother mentioning his name due to the fact he embarrassed his brother Henrick Sedin.
-
Take a bow Daniel Sedin then sit down. Why would anyone be so nonchalant with the puck coming out of your own end in overtime. I really hope that Eddie Lack curses the bunch of you guys out in the dressing room. He stood on his head for you guys and all you did was let him down. WOW what a let down in my MVHO.

Who was/is the better back up? Schneider or Lack?
Benchsplinters replied to TheRick's topic in Canucks Talk
Lack has been very consistent. I prefer to let him get a few games under his belt because consistency is what should be looked for in a goalie. I do however like what I see. I think Lack has a good future in store for himself -
The lack of secondary scoring is so glaring...
Benchsplinters replied to Lui's Knob's topic in Canucks Talk
Nary a word from the "impatient, negative ones." I wonder how Lui's Knob now feels about our secondary scoring. Sure glad people other than the "negative ones" aren't running the team -
It is really easy to be negative isn't it? How about some positive karma for a change. It will brighten your day believe me. By the way, they will prove you wrong too. This team is not just winning games, it is also learning how to win and that is the most important attribute a team can have.
-
You are so right. The team has to be clicking at the right time of year as well. Get two or three lines playing well and it goes viral with the other players.
-
What player doesn't faulter when you take two of his regular line mates away from him?
-
Fire the whole kit and cabootle and start fresh. It will only take another forty years + for Vancouver to be where they are now. So why not?
-
Aw come on you know the answer. Fire Gillis and hire a GM that was considered no good and fired by another team. What is wrong with you anyway
-
Everyone is entitled to an opinion
-
Enjoyed the post SID and +1 Great win for our boys. All the lines played really well. The response by Torts was timed just right. Get on the boys right away when it is the most effective, not during the presser after the game. Keep the pedal to the metal for 60 minutes attitude. Solid coaching in my opinion. Good job Torts.
-
Dont forget Booth down the wing and a pretty goal.
-
I often wonder how guys like that get so hammered and are still served alcohol. Do they have to start a fight before security realizes they should have been removed long before things got heated.
-
Ho hum.......Our boys handed the big bad Bruins their butts tonight just as they were leaving our town. Great win and statement by this year's team. Injuries be damned, what about our injuries during the SCF. Are they offering to replay the series. Not in a pigs ear. By the way, we have injuries as well Edler and Burrows and we won without them so what is your point. Stop making lame excuses for them you are embarrassing yourself.
-
Your opinion is just that your opinion. Yes Bieksa makes a few blunders out there just like every other player. But in my VHO he is worth every penny he is paid. Hockey would be as boring a tiddly winks if mistakes were not made. No team will ever eliminate mistakes, what you really try to do is limit them and make fewer ones than the team you are playing. Your opinion about him being a PF on the 2nd or 3rd is also just another opinion as well. I don't get your rationale on that one either. I suppose hockey talent is in the eyes of the beholder.

I was not aware Santorelli was simply signed to play in Utica only. Where did you get that? If the Canuck talent scouts are not better than that, I can easily see why Vancouver has not won a cup. If that is the case then management better have a better look an Stan Smyl and appraise his talents. I do not think Santorelli was simply signed to fill a spot in Utica. That is simply gossip.
