  1. Agree on White. Right now, an awful lot depends on Cordova. If he can't score, where are the goals going to come from?
  2. I see CBS will be broadcasting more Champions League this week. On Tuesday, it's Chelsea v Dortmund (0-1) at noon. On Wednesday at noon, it's not yet determined what game will be shown. So it will be either Tottenham/Milan (0-1) or Bayern/PSG (1-0). Arsenal plays its first leg in the Round of 16 in the Europa League on Thursday at 9:45am versus Sporting Lisbon. Unfortunately, the game seems to only be on DAZN.
  3. Rinse. Repeat. Except that this second game performance wasn't as good as the first game.
  4. So the Whitecaps play San Jose tonight. San Jose had a worse record than Vancouver last season. Given that the Caps next three games are against 2022 playoff teams (Dallas, the Galaxy and Minnesota), this is actually a somewhat important game to win even if it is only the second game of the season.
  5. Pig A hermit lives in the forest with his pet pig. His pig is stolen. He decides to go and get it back. Nicholas Cage in a quirky movie. I like quirky movies even if some of the plot doesn't make sense. Available on Crave. 3 1/2 * / 5
  6. And a well-deserved 4-0 win by the boys in red! They're now five points ahead of Man City and Gabriel Jesus is back in training so he should be back sooner than later. Things are looking good for Arsenal but there are still 13 games left in the season so we shall see. Next up, at home to 19th place Bournemouth on Saturday. (Surely not a taken-for-granted-trap game?)
  7. And then two teams higher in the draft order will win the lottery and push us back another two spots.
  8. Yes, the report from the Energy Department comes with low confidence. But, before, they were undecided. Also, as the article states, the FBI believes the virus was lab-made with medium confidence. And speaking of low confidence, it appears that the US agencies who believe that the virus came from natural causes also classify their findings as low confidence. Here's a link to a WSJ article that goes into it a bit more: https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-origin-china-lab-leak-807b7b0a Personally, I have no idea where the virus came from. But it seems like it's still an open question. At least as far as US intelligence agencies are concerned.
  9. Wonder if we'll ever find out..... https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/feb/26/covid-virus-likely-laboratory-leak-us-energy-department Covid-19 likely emerged from laboratory leak, US energy department says Updated finding a departure from previous studies on how the virus emerged and comes with ‘low confidence’ The virus which drove the Covid-19 pandemic most likely emerged from a laboratory leak but not as part of a weapons program, according to an updated and classified 2021 US energy department study provided to the White House and senior American lawmakers, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday. The department’s finding – a departure from previous studies on how the virus emerged – came in an update to a document from the office of National Intelligence director Avril Haines. It follows an FBI finding, issued with “moderate confidence”, that the virus spread after leaking out of a Chinese laboratory. The conclusion from the energy department – which oversees a network of 17 US laboratories, including areas of advanced biology – is considered significant despite the fact that, as the report said, the agency made its updated judgment with “low confidence”.
  10. A heads up: Arsenal's next league game is on Wednesday, March 1, 11:45am, home against Everton. You may already know this but the game didn't appear on my schedule.
  11. Stop me if you've heard this one before. The Whitecaps did a lot of good running. They did a lot of good passing. But they couldn't finish. Granted, it's only the first game of the season. But when it's a continuation of what we've seen over the past several years, it's kind of worrisome.
  12. I'm hoping the Whitecaps win the CONCACAF Champions League this season, and then go on to play a team like Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup next year.
  13. The Whitecaps fill their remaining designated player spot with a striker: https://www.whitecapsfc.com/news/vwfc-acquire-cordova Whitecaps FC announced on Monday that the club has acquired Venezuelan international Sergio Córdova from German Bundesliga side FC Augsburg. Córdova agreed to a contract through 2025, with a club option for 2026, and will occupy a Designated Player and international roster spot - pending receipt of his international transfer certificate and work permit. Córdova, who led Real Salt Lake in scoring last year while on loan, arrives in Vancouver ahead of the 2023 MLS regular season opener against his former club this Saturday, February 25. Kickoff at BC Place is set for 7:30 p.m. PT. (6'2" and 200lbs. If nothing else, he's solid. )
  14. I see CBS is carrying the LIverpool/Real Madrid Champions League game tomorrow (Tuesday - noon). Then on Wednesday, it's RB Leipzig/Man City, also at noon.
  15. They broadcast all of them, as I recall. And, yes, I think the reduction is due to the Apple/MLS tv deal. So if you want to watch all the Whitecaps games this season, you'll have to pay $145 for the MLS Season Pass on Apple. I think you get a discount if you're already an Apple+ subscriber. And I think if you're a season ticket holder you get a free subscription. One thing about the Season Pass, it lets you watch all MLS games this season. Could be useful if the Caps bomb out or if you simply like watching MLS games. And speaking of Vancouver's season, here's a season preview from the MLS website: https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/vancouver-whitecaps-fc-2023-season-preview The analysts don't seem too optimistic about our boys. But what do they know?
  16. So it looks like TSN will be broadcasting 14 of the Whitecaps 34 games this season, as well as some 'select' games from the Leagues Cup competition in July and August. https://www.whitecapsfc.com/news/tsn-2023-schedule
  17. Whew! Talk about a roller coaster of a game! And a Man City draw is the icing on the weekend's cake!
  18. Plenty of soccer for a Vancouver fan to select from - the Whitecaps in MLS, the Whitecaps in League 1 and Vancouver FC in the CSL.
  19. Should we assume these types of things happened to every young guy who played junior hockey? And that every player in the NHL went through this and/or inflicted it on others?
  20. From the video: "The FBI is going to be taking the lead on analyzing the debris..."
