  1. Noted. I didn't mean to rain on anyone's parade. But that part of the story irked me.
  2. From the article: Okay, as long as it's not a Christian that's helping out suffering people. That's the important thing here!
  3. And possibly a preview of the AFC championship game. In a few years.
  4. Pretty entertaining game. Jacksonville done in by two main plays - the foiled TD attempt at the end of the first half. And the Bengals' third down play near the end of the game when Burrow was sacked but Jacksonville was called for holding, so first down Bengals. And they march on to the game winning field goal. Another learning experience for Lawrence. Who had 0 interceptions.
  5. A busy Wednesday in MLS that worked out not badly for the Whitecaps. On the bad side: RSL scored a goal in stoppage time to win their game & the Whitecaps only managed a tie in their game. On the good side: Minnesota lost, Dallas lost, LAFC lost & San Jose lost. The upshot is that Vancouver is alone in eighth place, three points behind Minnesota in seventh and the final playoff position. A critical game on Saturday against San Jose coming up. If it's not a must-win game it's a sure-would-help-to-win game.
  6. 2021 first overall pick versus 2020 first overall pick. And their respective teams.
  7. What We Do In The Shadows Available on FX. Just started watching this comedy series about a group of vampires living together in a house. It has a very droll sense of humour which I enjoy.
  8. From the article: "...58% of all food produced in Canada becomes waste." That is incredible.
  9. Well, I don't know about you but I enjoyed that!
  10. Game of the week on tonight! Two powerhouses from what many consider the best division in the NFL go head to head. Can't miss tv! - the slightly delusional UnkNuk
  11. Sign in a store: You don't have to vaccinate all your kids. Just the ones you want to keep.
  12. With that music playing in the background it was almost hypnotic.
  13. "Just above them, you should see a faint, fuzzy patch of light. That’s the Andromeda galaxy, and the light hitting your eyes has been travelling through space for 2.5m years." I still get boggled when I read these time spans. And that's the time it took for a neaby object.
  14. Well, I was just about ready to see Patrick Metcalfe drawn and quartered. But Crepeau saved his bacon. What a finish! A necessary win. The Caps are tied for eighth place with San Jose and LAFC, all of them three points behind RSL and the last playoff spot. But the Caps have a game in hand over the other three teams. More and more, it seems to me that Cavallini isn't getting the job done. 3 goals in 15 games just doesn't do it for a forward who is a designated player and who's getting paid a million bucks a year. I thought Ryan Gauld didn't dominate in today's game. Which is news because, thus far, he has. Up next, Houston on Wednesday.
  15. A 1-1 draw away to Colorado is not a bad result. Leaves the Caps four points out of a playoff spot with ten games remaining. Should be a dogfight for the rest of the season.
  16. William Shatner has a program on RT America called "I Don't Understand" wherein he interviews different people to learn about things he doesn't understand. In his latest episode, he interviews Neil deGrasse Tyson on astrophysics. It's kind of a rambling conversation but, hey, it's William Shatner and Neil deGrasse Tyson!
  17. AOC carries the message to the Met Gala:
  18. Hopefully, the impasse can be broken: U.S. Justice Department, Huawei’s Meng Wanzhou resume talks on plea deal, sources say The United States has resumed discussions with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and lawyers for Meng Wanzhou about a possible deferred prosecution agreement for the Chinese executive that could allow her to return to China, according to Canadian sources. The development could open the door for China to free Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor. Canada has accused Beijing of holding them hostage in retaliation for the arrest of Ms. Meng, who is detained in Vancouver and fighting extradition to the United States. also: The U.S. is prepared to end the extradition request and criminal proceedings against Ms. Meng if she pleads guilty and pays a hefty fine, the sources said. Huawei accepting corporate responsibility for violating sanctions is not part of the discussions, the sources said. also: The sources said the current negotiations do not involve a quid pro quo for the release of Mr. Spavor and Mr. Kovrig, who were arrested in China on espionage charges shortly after Ms. Meng was detained. They have been held in Chinese prisons while Ms. Meng is out on bail and living in a $13.7-million Vancouver home while she contests her extradition. Any discussions about the release of the two Michaels would involve the Chinese government, which has demanded that Ms. Meng be allowed to return home, the sources said. Even if Ms. Meng were allowed to leave Canada as part of a U.S. settlement, the sources said it is unlikely the two Michaels would be immediately freed. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-us-justice-department-meng-wanzhou-in-talks-on-plea-deal/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=Breaking News&utm_content=2021-9-17_19&utm_term=U.S. Justice Department, Meng Wanzhou in talks on plea deal, sources say&utm_campaign=newsletter&cu_id=t7%2BP3rI%2Bt%2FYx5Iui%2B6yRZxVYYZ6TE%2BGK
  19. From the article: But to fully test this model, we'll have to wait for a new generation of cosmology experiments... Or we could just wait until it happens again.
  20. From the article: "In fact, the CFS research and development team boasts that their reactor will be able to turn a glass of water into the electricity usage of one human for their entire lifetime." Sounds good to me. But there's always a caveat: "If such a powerful machine can produce more electricity than it uses..." Thus far, hasn't that been the problem with fusion? That it takes more power than it actually produces?
  21. Aussie ducks learn to swear, can say 'you bloody fool' like a human "You bloody fool!" As an Aussie living in Sydney with access to a motor vehicle, I've screamed that expression plenty of times in my life. When someone forgets to use the blinker or slams on the brakes? You bloody fool is a common refrain. Others have probably screamed it at me, too. The one place I wouldn't expect to hear it, though, is at a duck pond. How wrong I was. https://www.cnet.com/news/aussie-ducks-learn-to-swear-can-say-you-bloody-fool-like-a-human/?ftag=CAD-03-10abj4f&bhid=27387568584822941599927611586826&mid=13509450&cid=1494321690 (I can't copy the audio here but it's in the article.)
  22. NASA, ESA delay James Webb Space Telescope launch until December The launch of the next-generation James Webb Space Telescope, a marvel that will peer into the past and probe the origins of our universe, has been delayed once again, and nobody is likely to be surprised. The telescope had earlier been targeted for an Oct. 31 launch date, but the European Space Agency and NASA announced Tuesday that they're now aiming for Dec. 18. James Webb is a joint project from NASA, ESA and the Canadian Space Agency. The space observatory has endured massive delays spanning years, so adding another handful of weeks before launch is pretty much business as usual for the ambitious project. https://www.cnet.com/news/nasa-esa-delay-james-webb-space-telescope-launch-until-december/?ftag=CAD-03-10abj4f&bhid=27387568584822941599927611586826&mid=13509450&cid=1494321690 (Oddly, the article doesn't say why the delay occurred.)
