  1. Over at the Whitecaps site they have some clips showing some of the best goals in Caps' history (including Blaz's goal): http://www.whitecapsfc.com/post/2016/05/12/best-whitecapsfc-goal-mls
  2. And he was the MLS Humanitarian of the Year last season, as well. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/03/03/10-things-inside-look-kei-kamara-columbus-crew-scs-newest-dp
  3. 22 goals in 32 games last season. 5 goals in 9 games this season. So far I like the trade.
  4. I think they mentioned a sprained ankle during the telecast.
  5. It was odd - to me the Caps didn't seem to be a man short at all.
  6. Not yet. A question: who has the main responsibility for deciding which players to sign? Would it be Robinson or would it be a higher up, like Bob L.?
  7. Six goals in seven games. Four from the PK and two from set pieces. NONE, zero, zilch from in-field play. How is this possible? The answer is: it isn't possible. I am now convinced that some person or group has put a hex or jinx on this team. Voodoo or Black Magic is about the only explanation I can think of that accounts for the many missed chances the Caps have had. Not bad luck, not mis-shooting, not good goaltending - Voodoo or Black Magic! The only solution is for Lenarduzzi and Robinson to meet at midnight at BC Place and cut the throat of some chicken. Maybe throw in some chanting. Hopefully that will do it because first place Dallas is coming up.
  8. Unfortunately, I did watch it. Poorest game of the year. The Caps have now scored 6 goals in 6 games - 4 of them on PKs. This lack of offence has been a theme for this team from its start in MLS. Bustos didn't do much but he's young and it was his first start. And, to be fair, the Caps had, what?, six starters injured and unable to play. But this lack of scoring. Man. Something has to be done.
  9. I didn't think it deserved a yellow card when I first saw it. But from what the commentators were saying, the league wants to crack down on "studs up" tackles and have told the clubs and the refs that they will be automatic red cards. Could be a lot of red cards handed out this season.
  10. A rather scrambly game, I thought, that well-deserved its 0-0 final score. Could be bad news if Morales is out for any length of time.
  11. Apparently he's still affiliated with the Caps as a "Club Ambassador", whatever that is. http://www.eightysixforever.com/2016/3/3/11158030/yp-lee-joins-whitecaps-as-club-ambassador
  12. Meh. So let's see how the Mexican hockey team does against our guys.
  13. You might be right. I just seem to recall an incident in extra time where the Caps players and the Houston players were jabbering at each other and wasting time. But I could be wrong. In any event, I've watched a lot of soccer games, as I'm sure you have as well, and I don't think I've ever seen time whistled down when a team gets a corner kick or a free kick late in extra time. The refs inevitably allow the big play to take place and, if unsuccessful, will then whistle the game over.
  14. Shutting out the (current) highest scoring team in MLS? Not bad, not bad at all.
  15. I think when they show +4 it means a minimum of 4 extra minutes. If, for instance, the winning team starts to screw around in extra time it's only fair to add even more time. In tonight's game, a fair amount of the extra time period was wasted on setting up that kick just outside the Whitecaps goal area.
  16. Entertaining first half but a very scrambly second half I thought. A win is a win, but the lack of in-play scoring is becoming a bit worrisome. Unless the Whitecap owners have a direct deposit into the bank account of the MLS Refs Association we can't keep relying on penalty kicks. This lack of goal scoring is going to bite us big time.
  17. Too bad Canada lost. But the game was entertaining. That first half hour was terrific.
  18. I think that was Rudy Krol. Cruyff never played for the Caps but he did spend one season at each of LA and Washington.
  19. That's what I've heard, too. I've also heard that the league would do away with kickoffs altogether except that it would eliminate the possibility of a short kickoff at the end of a close game.
  20. Any guesses who they draft? Most of the predictions I've see have them drafting DE Joey Bosa. But perhaps the FA signing of DE Benson Mayowa from Oakland has changed this thinking?
  21. I thought the second penalty was justified, too. But I was watching the game on Fox with the Sounders broadcast crew. They thought both penalties were bogus and, generally, were not happy at all with the reffing. Bad calls are part of the game. When they go against you, you have to overcome them. When they go for you (as they did with the Caps yesterday), you have to take advantage of them.
  22. A win is a win. Take the three points and get out of town.
