That is a picture of my very first GML trade where I acquired Sidney Crosby. We then flipped Crosby a little bit later and that was the kickstart of our rebuild. Lets take a look at how that trade affected us today.
After working out a trade tree this is the results we came up with. We have acquired a lot of solid pieces for our future. We definitely gave up the most pieces, but feel happy with the quality we have got back over the 3 years stemming from that one deal.
On paper it may look like we lost a lot for what we gave up, but we bring in guys we feel will all play a huge part in our success over the next several seasons.
Here is a look at the trade tree...
Evgeny Dadonov Ryan Hartman Mark Borowieki (rights) 2020 4th round pick for Sidney Crosby Brad Hunt Sidney Crosby (Max retention) Vitek Vanecek for Yaroslav Askarov Alex Turcotte Alexander Wennberg Robby Fabbri 2021 BOS 2nd (Ville Koivunen) Alexander Wennberg for CGY 2021 3rd (Liam Dower Nilsson) ANA 2021 4th (Owen Murray) BUF 2021 4th Robby Fabbri for PIT 2023 1st Alex Turcotte Cal Foote Andrew Peeke 2022 TOR 1st (Logan Cooley) for Quinn Hughes Rasmus Andersson Yaroslav Askarov P.E. Bellmare Trent Frederic for Lucas Raymond Zemgus Girgensons PIT 2023 1st VGK 2023 2nd for Braden Schnieder FLA 2023 3rd (Amadeus Lombardi) Lucas Raymond Matthew Benning Eric Comrie for Ilya Samsonov Brett Kulak NYR 2023 2nd (Nick Lardis) NYR 2023 4th *NYR 2024 1st* Braden Schneider TOR 2024 2nd for Dawson Mercer Thomas Boudeleau *NYR 2024 1st* NYR 2023 4th ARZ 2023 4th for NYI 2023 1st VAN 2023 3rd (Tristan Bertucci) NYI 2023 1st for PIT 2023 1st (Lukas Dragicevic) NSH 2023 2nd (Gavin Hayes) GREY - Assets moved
RED - Acquired assets flipped
WHITE - Acquired
YELLOW - Given away/Let walk
Fabbri for a 1st seemed like a good idea at the time. Probably one of my top 3 worst trades I’ve made in this league

Just a reminder that every player above the age of 24 on the Ottawa senators is available for trade

Also I have left the Discord server. Anyone looking to discuss trade, etc should message us on here.
Reilly Smith remains available for a 2024 or 2025 1st. Price may come down eventually if no1 bites, but we are not in a rush to move him out so we are going to remain firm on the price until we can't afford to anymore. If no1 bites we won't cry about it. We will just lower our price as should be the case when shopping any player
Cheers!
Why did you leave the discord server?
That seems like a big price to pay for a non playoff player with no value

If the NHL is projecting a salary cap in 2024/25 in the area of $ 88 million how would that affect the GML cap limit in the 24/25 season.
Does GML's cap number go up as much as the NHL by approximately $ 5.5 million or?
Thanks
It should go up by a percentage. So if the NHL is at 83.5 mil and goes up to 88.5 that’s roughly a 6% increase (83.5x1.06=88.51)
Our cap is at 88.7. So 88.7x1.06= 94 mil

Can’t believe he went that late. If I wasn’t busy unpacking from vacation I would have burned up the phone trying to trade up
