  1. At the very least, I'm excited to see a rightshot Dman with a clapper from the point. It's been way too damn long since we've seen that.
  2. Not loving the trade, but I do like the player. Would definitely like to see us attempt a 2-Dman PP. Get Boeser off there: JT - Petey - Kuzy Hughes - Hronek
  3. oof, I was pretty onboard with trading JT... but our lineup sure looks dreadful without him there.
  4. He’s to me one of the most underrated players of the last 25 years.
  5. I had never once considered Chychrun a viable target for us, but the more I think about it... I feel we may actually be in on this. He's a 24-year old mobile Dman with size and some snarl. Obviously it doesn't make sense with our current roster construction, but if there is any hope of offloading Myers and/or a potential OEL buyout... that's a pretty solid young player to add to our core. Even if we are "rebuilding", this a player worth paying. NYI 1st Boeser Rathbone One of Hoglander, Lekkerimaki, Klimovich, Silovs I would personally be just fine with making that move to bring in a Dman of Chychrun's calibre. Anything more than that, we'll pass.
  6. Petey and Huggy have both been exceptional since Tocchet took over. We will never need to do a full tear-down "rebuild" with these guys on the roster, but we need to build around them.
  7. He is most certainly not our best prospect, but he definitely does have the most tantalizing tool kit.
  8. Precisely this. I can see Allvin having a major hard-on for Wallstedt, though.
  9. Bedard, Zegras, McTavish, Drysdale, Zellweger/Mintyukov That's a whole powerplay's worth of young talent...and Zegras being the oldest isn't even 22 yet.
  10. He had that done when he was still in College...
  11. You can't swallow it whole in one bite, man. You know that.
  12. Gonchar is going to love working with Quinn Hughes. The rest of the D group, not so much... I do like the fact that they're all cup winners, though. Adam Foote doesn't have much of a coaching track-record, but he was one heck of a player.
  13. Re-watching the highlights - JT should play the point on the powerplay. He needs to touch the puck less on the PP, but shoot more. His shot can be deadly through a screen.
  14. Initially, I kind of admired the fact that JR was not too quick to praise Boudreau. He was trying to set a precedent that "pretty good" isn't good enough. Same with offering Bo Horvat what he deemed a reasonable contract and not caving to any pressure to sign him just because he's captain/fan favourite. It's been an issue here for quite some time, getting too attached to our players... But with the way the season's gone... Bruce clinging to his relatable nice-guy routine while his team gets spanked without it's star goaltender, Bo Horvat having a "contract year" for the ages, and newly signed JT Miller and Brock Boeser underperforming/falling out of favour with the fanbase - it's pretty clear that JR misread things. This fanbase obviously liked Bruce (queue the chants), and JR should have at least pumped his tires a bit after last year. He didn't need to sign an extension right then and there, but he could have been a bit more complimentary and supportive given the circumstances. Now we're in this weird position where he knows he's getting fired, and the fans don't even really want him gone. Team morale will hit an all-time low once coach #2 gets fired. He also should have seen that Bo Horvat is a more logical 'core piece' to retain than JT Miller, despite the point totals last year. His age, the position he plays, the fact that he's improving year-over-year, and his relationship with the fans. The only jersey I've bought in the last 20 years is a #53, and I'm going to be chapped to watch this guy leave like this. There is nothing inherently wrong with JT's contract, but he's just not the right guy for this team at this stage. All we can hope is that we nail this Bo Horvat trade, and that we're picking high in the first round. The right piece can change the entire dynamic of this season, but I would have been pretty happy to build around Bo, Huggy, Petey, and Demmer going forward.
  15. JR, you can still accept 1st round picks in a trade... and then flip them for age-appropriate talent. Dear god, just accumulate valuable assets.
  16. I think Bedard's separating factor (other than his lethal shot) is his hockey IQ. He reminds me a ton of Brayden Point, in that the puck just seems to find him no matter what, due to his on-ice intelligence and spatial awareness. So, he's kind of like a Caufield/Point/Yzerman hybrid. Good luck putting a ceiling on that! Franchise player, to be certain. But I'm just not sure how much better that is than a prime Elias Pettersson.
  17. Bedard is my boy - literally my favourite prospect in all of hockey, and I've been following him since he was 14... But I don't think I'd trade either Hughes or Pettersson + a top 10 pick. I think there's a slight chance he's better offensively than EP40, but is it worth it considering his lack of defensive ability and being sub-6 feet? Hughes is just too rare of a player on the back-end, impossible to replace. Get another 1st in the Horvat trade, same for Kuzmenko if we go down that route. See how the chips fall. Would be an absolute dream to land Bedard without giving up anything. But I'd be happy keeping our two young pillars (Huggy and Petey) and getting somebody like David Reinbacher.
  18. Totally. I'm not saying Delia didn't misread the play, and you could even argue that it's those kind of plays that separate the good from the elite. But there's a lack of professionalism on JT's part by letting his emotions show like that. Even understanding that he's 100% right on that play, if I were Delia I would be pissed. JT's not in net, and the goalie makes his own call when he feels comfortable heading to the bench.
