  1. This was definitely not the worst contract/move of the day. That has to go to those hypocrite Boston Bruins for signing David Backes to that contract when they were only willing to give Loui Ericsson 4 years. They go and give an older player who scores less points more term than they wanted to give Loui?! Ha...ha...hahahahaha hahahaha!!!!!
  2. I still don't see this as bad news. As a matter of fact, that's even better, isn't it?! And we also have Sutter and Horvat who can also deal with Tkachuk.
  3. Yeah...this one was a little tough. On one hand, we now have to play Tkachuk 6 times a damn year. I hated watching Vancouver play his dad in the late 90s and early 2000s. This will be no different. On the other hand, we got to draft a dman the likes of which we have never had and we get to have him for at least 10 years with the organization (barring a trade). At the end of the day, we have a decent amount of wingers in the organization and Virtanen can deal with Tkachuk. It's a smart pick at 5.
  4. Yes, but I see ALOT of open ice with which he is afforded to let his shots go in. Ice which he will have to work for at the NHL level.
  5. Realistically, Lundquist is the only one who can catch Marty. As long as he plays til that age, he will. I have no doubt. It will be close though. I honestly believe Henrik will be the better by the end of it all. Marty had the benefit of all those Jersey teams with stifling defense. Henrik's teams are nowhere close. Lu will end his career top 3 and then be bumped down to 3 or 4 by the end of it.
  6. The only concern is about Virtanen getting gassed quickly. JB wants his fitness level to go up in the summer and that can be done. We don't want him to end up like Kassian where he ends up gassed and caught up ice when we need him to back check, a la Kassian.
  7. Wow...this Comets team is gonna grab the AHL by the throat and own them all!!!
  8. It's all in how the team values good goaltending. I believe both San Jose and Colorado value that position greatly. I mean neither made the playoffs and mostly because Niemi was spotty and Varly was injured. The best GMs are sales people. You have to show them the value in it. It's pretty easy to show said value when you look at how both teams did this season.
  9. Yeah, if Miller goes to make room for Marky to make the big club next year, it's likely San Jose or *maybe* Colorado for their prospective 1st rounders.
  10. You know, Bo is still young and won't be 20 until next year. If he goes back to junior, he can still do the World Juniors. They could really use him. And also, if the Nucks go past the 9 games, he could still be part of that tourney. Either way, it's good. Considering how the team is shaping up, letting him get better in junior might be the way to go. I think the big selling point on him making the team will be his defensive prowess. If he dominates on the dot in camp, it's quite possible he's in.
  11. Dat shot. All I have to say, haha!
  12. I could maybe see Iggy signed to a 2 or 3 year deal here and they agree if he doesn't like how the team is at the trade deadline, we trade him to a contender. At least he could have the security of a few years worth of contract. Maybe not many teams wanna take the risk on giving him term. They would change their tune at the deadline though if they need scoring punch. I bet he signs here. Good mentor for Kass. Great shot with the Sedins!
  13. Meh, maybe it's just because it may be a way to help the development curve of Lack. Instead of having him play 20 playing behind Miller, we may see him play 35 under Hiller. To me, it's a coin flip, but Hiller would no doubt be cheaper and allow the team more money to fix it's main problem. Scoring goals!!!
  14. How superstitious is he? Maybe his playing well here before will influence him...I mean if he believes in such things.
  15. I would take him and package Stanton, Tanev, and Hansen for a top 6 forward. We need the defense to skate the puck into the offensive zone again!!!
  16. Good question. A chance to fire home pucks with the twins would probably be the best answer to that. 1 year and he would get one last big pay day. 40 goals with the twins.
  17. Letting Lack play thru theveebuild...hmm, that's how Quick got so good!
  18. Exactly!!! The way I look at it is this trade would basically be giving them 3 future pieces to their core...for 1. Nope! 2 and a B prospect (Gaunce, Jensen) are doable. That's it. I say we just pick Virtanen, Ehlers, Nylander, or Ritchie. I am thinking Virtanen or Nylander the most. Both fill needs for this team. Really interested in Nylander, but thinking Virtanen will be the guy.
  19. I guess no one saw Craig Button's TSN draft list show then? Dale Tallon was on there and he said what he wanted. A good young player who can play now, a pick, and another good young player. So...not keen on the veterans. That sounds like Tanev, a top end prospect and a pick. Not worth it. Especially since Button also outlined how Reinhart could drop to 4th, which is quite possible, when you look at it. Let's talk to Edmonton. Get their pick instead.
  20. Fu(k, look at the joy and excitement in his eyes there!!! That youthful exuberance would help towards making it great for the team to come to the rink every day. This is what I see. Past the skill and and the energy, he's always smiling, always grateful for what he has, yet understands how good he is. I want this kid on the team!!! It needs more of this attitude. Not the same dogmatic attitude spouted off from every player you normally see since the dawn of time!!!
  21. Well if they trade up for #1, that's what they do. Their biggest need is defense, center, and veterans. Of course they want Ekblad. They need Ekblad. Hell, they need Reinhart, Draisaitl, or Bennett as well. They won't win games without a good defense though. That's their start. Tanev would help with that. Fleury would help with that eventually, and Gaunce is a big center who is NHL ready. More ready than Horvat, actually. Has an NHL shot, his defensive play is something the Oilers sorely need. He will eventually be a second line center in the ilk of a Mike Fisher and he's ready now. Not in a year or two. THAT is a fair trade. As fair as any!
  22. No. Try Tanev, Gaunce, and 6th overall. They need a big center who's close to NHL ready, they would get one defenseman and draft another. Fills all their needs. Pretty much perfect. Either way, any one of those 3 guys are on my radar. If we can get either of them, we take it.
  23. Bah, we all kind of know that would be coming anyhow. JB needs to get on the draft floor and have a chat with these guys. Thursday at the latest.
  24. Then why not trade for #3 and not lose Hunter instead? From the sounds of things, Reinhart, Bennett, and Draisaitl are basically a coin flip
  25. Actually, I wouldn't go above 2.7. That is what Nick Leddy is making and with all due respect to Tanev, he's better.
